4 Star Review of Ghost by A. Zavarelli

Ghost (Boston Underworld #3)

Author:  A. Zavarelli

Genre:  Dark romance, Romantic Suspense

I have always been a bird. Caged by one prison or another when the only thing I ever wanted was to fly away.
Sold. Beaten. Starved. Drugged.
Nothing scares me anymore.
Until him.
He makes the numbness go away.
He is hazardous to me. It has nothing to do with his mafia lifestyle, and everything to do with what he offers.
A gilded prison.
A retreat from everything that I once knew. The reality I have no desire to return to.
He thinks he’s caged me, but soon…
I’m going to fly.

I live by a code. The Vory code.
In this mafiya world, there are traditions.
She does not care for these things. She does not care about anything.
She thinks she has me fooled with her haunted eyes.
What she can’t know is that I see her better than most.
She wants to fly.
But I’m going to clip her wings.
And make her my wife.

**This is a DARK mafia romance. A full-length standalone novel with HEA and no cheating.**

My Review:

4/5 Stars!!!

Deliciously dark, this story of two very broken people who find what they need in each other. Ghost is a dark tale of love and trust in a most unconventional way.

Talia has been sold into slavery and she is clinging to her last bit of hope when she is unexpectedly “rescued” by Alexei, a high-ranking member of the Russian mafia. His rescue is not as it seems and life is only minimally better for Talia.

Talia and Alexei are very complex characters with miserable pasts. Alexei is powerful, but is bound by a secret that could destroy him. He is dark and angry and controlling, but he is gentle with Talia. He does not trust, though. Talia is broken both mentally and physically. She also cannot trust. They push and fight and goad each other, but under the surface, this palpable current of emotion slowly meanders along like a quiet hum.

A. Zavarelli has woven a dark tale that will keep you in suspense, pull at your emotions and have you rooting for these two to find the love they so deserve with each other. A page turner and a must read!
