About UNKNOWN (Unknown Trilogy #1):
Amber Tate believes the worst thing she’ll suffer in life is dealing with the unrequited love she feels for her brother’s best friend, Rylen Fite. She also believes war is something unfortunate that happens places far, far away from her rural Nevada town. She’s wrong on both counts.
When an unknown organization meticulously bombs major cities in the United States and across the globe, a trickle-down effect spreads to remaining towns at an alarming speed—everything from food and water sources to technology and communications are compromised. Without leadership, the nation is split between paralysis and panic, but Amber isn’t one to hide or watch helplessly. She’s determined to put her nursing skills to use, despite the danger, even if it means working alongside the man she can never have.
In this first installment of NY Times bestselling author, Wendy Higgins’s debut New Adult series, a frighteningly realistic apocalyptic America is brought to life, entwined with searing romantic tension that will leave you eager for more.
My Review of Unknown
4.5 Stars!!
What happens when the world is attacked by an unknown enemy? For Amber and her family and friends, it means survival any way they can.
I got sucked into this book from the first chapter and read it in nearly one sitting. I went into this without reading the synopsis. I cracked open the book and was a thrown by the prologue (you’ll see why). Then, I started into the chapter one and I was hooked. The book is broken into two parts, before and after the attacks, essentially. Amber, the protagonist, is a young girl at the start of the book. We learn about her family and Rylen, the neighbor boy who quickly becomes her whole world. The first part of the book is all about Amber and her life as she grows up, her relationship with Rylen and who her feelings for him grow beyond brotherly. Then the attacks happen and everything changes.
I am so impressed with this book. Other than the alien aspect, the scarily-realistic response to the disaster was eerie. The writing is phenomenal as I’ve come to expect from Wendy Higgins. She takes care to put detail into her writing without overwhelming the reader. There is just enough given away within the story to fuel your curiosity and yet not enough to resolve the crisis. BUT, the real star of this book/series is the burgeoning feelings between Amber and Rylen. It is sweet and angsty with twists you won’t see coming and heartbreak that will squeeze that muscle in your chest.
The book ends on a cliffhanger as this is a trilogy and the end of the book is enough to make you want to throw the book or your ereader to the ground.
An amazing first book in a series that is sure to be a hit!

About UNREST (Unknown Trilogy #2):
Being on the run in the desert means food and sanctuary are hard to come by, but Amber Tate and her crew are not about to give up. Not after having so many of the things they love brutally ripped from them by an unknown enemy who sent their world into the apocalypse.
Survival takes precedence, but once safe shelter is found, their guards fall and the emotions they’ve been holding in are finally released. Anger, insecurities…lust. In their tight quarters, Amber, Rylen, Tater, and Remy can’t escape it. The past must be faced, and passions run even stronger in the darkest of times.
In the midst of unrest, their worlds are rocked again when they discover the truth about the war that’s ruined their lives. They thought finding out the enemy’s identity would give them the edge; instead it’s revealed terrifying dangers they never thought possible.
My Review of Unrest
4.5 Stars!
The second installment of the Unknown Trilogy is here and it is fire!
Picking up immediately after the cliff-hanger ending of book one, Unrest, our merry band of survivors begins the trek to DPG and hopeful safety. Their journey is not easy. They deal with danger, weather, sickness and lack of supplies. They finally make it in the knick of time and that’s where this book really begins.
After the survivors arrive at DPG, the book changes pace and deals with the interpersonal relationships among the survivors and the new group of people they encounter at DPG. Amber really starts to reach her full potential in her new role. The guys are allowed to be the soldiers they were trained to be. Remy blossoms. Relationships ebb and flow. The will they won’t they of Rylen and Amber reaches a resolution. And then…
CLIFFHANGER! GAH!
I loved the last chapter of this book. I won’t give it away in case you haven’t read it, but Higgins changes things up a bit and it works. I am hopeful this continues into the third book because the entire landscape of the series changed in an instant at the end of Unrest and a change up would be perfect. It isn’t all about Amber anymore.
An amazing installment in this NA sci fi series!

About UNDONE (Unknown Trilogy #3):
Amber Tate never dreamed their heart-wrenching escape from the enemy’s attack would lead them to the most beautiful place she’s ever seen. Like everywhere else in the world, Elmendorf military base in Alaska has been taken over, but it’s time to take it back—all of it—one base, one city at a time. After losing so much, Amber clings to the one precious person she has left, and vows to sacrifice everything to help save the Earth.
Remy Haines is a lover, not a fighter, so when she finds herself in enemy territory, expected to feign allegiance while gathering intel for the rebel cause, she’s never been more out of her element. Tensions only increase when her feelings for Jacob “Tater” Tate won’t go away, and the enemy’s leader takes an interest in her. She’s torn between what her heart wants, and what she knows she should do. As for what her body needs…well, it’s always had a mind of its own.
My Review of Undone
5 Stars!
It’s here and it is fantastic!
Book two left off with a killer cliff-hanger and Undone picks up right where Unrest left off. We find out what has become or Amber, Remy, Rylen and Tater and it is not good for any of them. The safety they were promised is no longer safe. With all of the merry gang of humans facing dangers, Undone is a suspenseful, heart-pounding ride.
Amber is even more bad a*# than before. She and Rylen burn hotter than before. I love those two! Tater is still an emotional mess, but getting stronger with a new found determination. The surprise of this book is Remy! She comes into her own. When faced with making tough choices, she finally pulls up her big girl panties and does what needs to be done. I love the emotional tension between Remy and Tater. They are unknowingly healing each other.
My favorite thing about the book was the ending. Finally seeing these people who have fought so hard get their lives back and get the HEA’s they so deserve!
Wendy Higgins, you are a queen! An amazing ending to this trilogy!
