do you do when being apart is unbearable…but being together is impossible?
Advanced Physical Chemistry is the
third in a series of standalone rom-coms featuring geeky heroines who work in
A fun, very sweet, friends-to-friends-with-benefits romance with a quirky heroine and a swoonworthy hero.
Penny has been described by a lot of other reviewers as nerdy or geeky. I didn’t read her that way. I read her as quirky, sure; but just because she was in a STEM field, I didn’t automatically assume she was a geek. However, in the beginning, she was definitely awkward, but then again, aren’t we all some times? Caleb was the hunky barista. His development was less than Penny’s, but his character didn’t really need it. The book is a romance, but it is also more. It is Penny’s awakening or transition, if you will, to self-awareness and self-sufficiency when it comes to her relationships. Of course, when you pose a no strings attached relationship, there is bound to be trouble.
All in all, I enjoyed the book and will read more from Nix.

hum of the refrigerator case at the end of the hall.

course not, I—”
I’m trying to understand why you’d do something like that and then run off and

Either. Why are you being so weird about all of it?”

end of the evening. She couldn’t even picture the smiling part, much less the
rest of it.

he’d given her. Deadly serious.
