Title: Wicked Games
Series: Queen of the Damned #2
Author: Kel Carpenter
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: April 20, 2018
So…as it turns out, I really am Lucifer’s Daughter. Hell’s Heir. And—you guessed it—the next Queen of the Damned.
But what if I don’t want to rule?
With the imp in hiding, and Josh gone from this world, I still wasn’t safe. Not by a long shot. Dear ol’ Dad didn’t just pass on his legacy and mark. He also passed on all of Hell’s problems, and that means his enemies, are now mine.
Fortunately for me, I have the Four Horsemen, my banshee best friend, and a pissed off raccoon on my side.
But now I have the beast to contend with. My psychotic, possessive, and downright scary alter-ego was dead set on having the Horsemen, not only at my back, but in my bed. As if learning to control the flames of Hell wasn’t a hard enough job by itself.
Would it have been too hard for Lucifer to write a handbook before he died?
Wicked Games picks up where Lucifer’s Daughter left off, with Ruby in danger. The action picks up but the romance slows down. After reading the first book, I was having a hard time finding the whole reverse harem thing (which I’m not a fan of, by the way), but it is more than evident in Wicked Games. However, it’s a bit angsty and, while hot, it is slow to develop. The Four Horsemen protect Ruby and there are definite feelings of some kind burning between them, but there is no resolution in this book. We’ll have to wait for the next book for more.
The writing is very good. The story is unique and interesting, not something I’ve read over and over like some paranormal romances. Again, I’m not a huge fan of the whole reverse harem thing, but I can admit it works in this situation.
I am looking forward to reading the next book and highly recommend this series as a whole. (This is not a standalone)
