Review Tour ~ 5 Stars for Blood Type by K. A. Linde!

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

My Review

5 Stars!!

Wow!!! This book was freaking amazing! Seriously. It was just so good!!! I have been a fan of K. A. Linde for some time, but she blew me away with this paranormal romance involving vampire no less!

Blood Type is a dystopian paranormal romance. The setting is that of a city after an economic collapse, a city of contrasts from the wealthy, vampire elite to the desperate humans who have next to nothing. Reyna comes from the warehouses, a district of working class people barely surviving. She is desperate to make a better life for herself and her brothers, so she takes a job with Visage, the company run by the vampires to match humans to vampires by blood type. She goes in intending to work for a month or two and then return to the warehouses. Instead, she ends up as a permenant match for Beckham Anderson, one of the most powerful vampires in the city. Beckham is alpha all the way. He is cold and disinterested, but yet he shows her a strange kindness.

The relationship between Reyna and Beckham adapts and grows. Beckham is hot and cold. Reyna is discovering things about herself and the cit. She becomes a sort of accidently heroine even though no one knows who she is. It doesn’t take long for the relationship between Reyna and Beckham to become something more than employee and employer, but it takes quite a bit of time before things become physical. There is plenty of angst, but it is not overdone. It just the perfect amount of slow burn and even when things do happen, you are sure if they are real or not. I kind of loved that. Then… then, there is the end. Holy buckets of blood! I have the love-hate relationship with cliff-hangers. They make me crazy, but on the flip side I love them because it just means more to the story. This one was particularly scream-inducing, but it will be all worth it when the next book comes out!

I am absolutely addicted to Reyna and Beckham’s story! The perfect amount of angst, a few twists and a cliffhanger that left me wanting more! A must read!

That was the moment Beckham appeared in the doorway like a storm cloud.

Reyna straightened in her seat at the expression on his face. He walked across the room like a tightly coiled spring ready to explode.

“Ah Beckham, there you are,” Harrington said.

“Excuse me, William. I need to speak with Reyna. Alone.”

She hastened out of her seat and followed him around the corner. He tugged her straight through the kitchens, out the back door, down a corridor, and into a dead end. Then her back was slammed against the brick wall. His fist connected with the wall behind her, and she felt the wall shudder. Debris floated onto her shoulders.

“You left,” he growled.

“I . . .”

“No.” He pressed his finger to her lips roughly. She stopped breathing and just stared up into his eyes as dark as night. Her body trembled under the feral stare. “You left without me.”

The silence was weighted. All she could do was sit with their bodies nearly touching. His finger on her mouth. Her mind wandering to hellacious places.

“You are my subject. Can you imagine what it was like when I found you missing? When you turned up with three of my kind?” She shook her head minutely. He bared his teeth to her, and she shrank back. “These are meant to drink your blood. To drink you dry until there is nothing left of your body but a dry corpse. We are killers. We don’t hesitate. Just because we’re wearing suits and seem more like you . . . does not mean we are like you. We are not like you. They especially are not like you. The only way you get to the top of Visage is to be fucking ruthless, Reyna. Do you understand?”

“You’re . . . scaring me,” she whispered.

“Good.”

A HORRIFIC RECURRING NIGHTMARE IS THREATENING TO STEAL HER SANITY…

Dr. Corinne Cabot is living the American dream. She’s a successful ER physician in Chicago who’s married to a handsome husband. Together they live in a charming house in the suburbs. But appearances can be deceiving—and what no one can see is Corinne’s dark past. Troubling gaps in her memory mean she recalls little about a haunting event in her life years ago that changed everything.

She remembers only being in the house the night two people were found murdered. Her father was there, too. Now her father is in prison; she hasn’t been in contact in years. Repressing that terrifying memory has caused Corinne moments of paranoia and panic. Sometimes she thinks she sees things that aren’t there, hears words that haven’t been spoken. Or have they? She fears she may be losing her mind, unable to determine what’s real and what’s not.

So when she senses her husband’s growing distance, she thinks she’s imagining things. She writes her suspicions off to fatigue, overwork, anything to explain what she can’t accept—that her life really isn’t what it seems.

Blog Tour ~ 5 Stars for Under A Storm-swept Sky by Beth Anne Miller

Today we have the blog tour for UNDER A STORM-SWEPT SKY by Beth Anne Miller! We are so excited to share this new title with you! Check it out and grab your copy today!

Title: UNDER A STORM SWEPT SKY

Author: Beth Anne Miller

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Under a Storm-Swept Sky:

An eighty-mile trek across the rugged, stunning beauty of Scotland’s Isle of Skye isn’t something I imagined myself doing. Ever. This isn’t a trail for beginners. And I’m not a hiker.
But I have to finish it, even if it kills me. I have no choice.
With the ever-changing weather and relentless terrain, I’m in over my head.

Rory Sutherland, my guide on this adventure, is not happy. We clash with every mile, but we recognize a shared pain. Not only is the journey a struggle, but the tension between us is taut with unsaid words. And hope.

He’s broken. I’m damaged. Together, we’re about to make the perfect storm.

My Review

5 Stars!!

This is one of the best books I’ve read this year! Beth Anne Miller takes the reader on a beautiful emotional journey of healing and forgiveness.

Amelia arrives in Scotland to hike the very difficult Skye Trail in honor of her best friend who was injured in an accident and remains in a coma. When Amelia arrives, she meets a supportive group of fellow hikers, friends and love. Along the way, she faces danger, injury and a mountain guilt. Rory is one of the guides on the hiking trip. He is buried under a moutain of his own guilt. He and Amelia do not get along at first, but when he steps in to help her in a seemingly impossible task, their animosity slowly turns to friendship and more.

I am in love with this book. Everything about it was just right. Miller’s writing is smooth, easy and emotional. I felt like I was on the hike with Amelia and Rory. I laughed, cried and swooned. I fell in love with Rory right along with Amelia. The story is sweet and complex, a true journey of healing.

This is my first book by Beth Anne Miller, but it is most definitely NOT my last!

My Review

5 Stars!

This book! This freaking book! I am completely enamored with Eric! This book gave me all the feels and then some.

I have to be honest here. I have never read a book where I have felt so much for a character. In the previous books in the Dive Bar series, Eric has been portrayed as the irresponsible playboy, which he was. There is no question about that. However, the loss of his unborn child affected him more than he let on. So, now, Eric gets is book and his story is told and my God it was so so so good!

So, I get that Eric is this playboy, all arrogant and irresponsible, but his friends and family’s lack of faith in him was cringeworthy. Seriously, Nell was a straight up B to him, about him and behind his back. I kind of wanted to punch her face. The entire book is told from Eric’s POV and being in his head is both difficult and amazing. He is complex and yet simple and I just felt for him so much.

This entire series has been great, but this book stands out as a shining star! I dare you not to fall in love with Eric!

Turning to the door, I smiled, ready to greet my late-evening customer, but faltered as the door closed behind him.

Cole Goodman was walking my way.

My belly dipped as I took him in. His aviator sunglasses were perched on top of his chocolate-brown hair. A black polo stretched across his broad shoulders and pulled tight across his muscled arms. His pale-blue jeans molded to his Herculean thighs before draping down to his black, square-toed boots. The leather belt on Cole’s trim waist held both a shining badge and a holstered gun.

Cole smiled and locked his light-green eyes on mine as he crossed the room.

His straight, white teeth made my breath hitch—something that had happened last night more times than I wanted to admit.

Molly, who had turned around from her seat to greet our customer, spun around so her back was to Cole. Her cheeks flushed as she whispered, “Wow.”

Wow was right.

Cole Goodman was—simply put—gorgeous.

He could give a woman a speeding ticket and get a thank-you in return. He inspired women to attempt push-ups in a karate class just for the chance to watch him sweat through his gi. Cole made grown women blush like teenagers and giggle in corners, like those girls at the dojo last night.

It was hate at first sight……

Affton

I hated Cable James McCaffrey.

He was entitled, spoiled, a user…and an addict.

He was out of control and didn’t bother trying to hide it.

He had everything anyone could want but still seemed miserable and lost.

Every move he made, every mistake he stumbled his way through, rubbed me the wrong way. However, I couldn’t stop myself from trying to save him from himself when no one else would. In the sweltering heat of the summer, Cable taught me that having it all means nothing if you can’t have the one thing you want more than anything else.

Cable

I was obsessed with Affton Reed.

She was rigid, uptight, and no fun. There was something about her innate goodness that called to me.

She acted like she was above all the normal faults and failures that clung to the rest of us like the scent of smoke after a fire.

I was infatuated with her, but that didn’t stop me from acting like she didn’t exist.

In the scorching heat of summer, Affton taught me that there is always a way back from the brink of despair. She showed me that the trick to having it all was realizing that it was already there, in my hands. All I had to do was hold onto it.M

The road to recovery is full of twists and turns no matter who is in the driver’s seat.

My Review

5 Stars!!

I am in love with this amazing, emotional romance that is Jay Crownover’s best work yet!

The first thing that struck me was the note from Jay Crownover at the beginning of the book. I will only say that this book is based loosely on her personal experiences, but is fiction. However, I can imagine this must not have been easy to write. I appreciated that she told this story and added a much needed grit to it.

In true Crownover tradition, the character names are unique. Affton and Cable were never friends. In fact, Affton hated Cable and yet she stepped in to try and help him when no one else recognized he needed help. Afton has her reasons for helping. Cable has his reasons for being the way he is. They are thrown together into an unwanted situation that neither can get out of without losing so much. Their animosity slowly, very slowly becomes a tentative frienship. Friendship eventually morphs into something a little more. The book has a happily ever after that is satisfying and realistic.

The book is not a quick read. It is engaging and pulls you in from the start. There is little dialogue, which is par for the course for Crownover, whose books tend to be prose heavy. I think that worked very well for this book. The book was told from dual POVs allowing us, the readers, to really be a part of the characters’ internal turmoil.

Recovered is a little bit sad. It is a little bit deep. At its heart, Recovered is a love story, but there are no hearts and flowers here. The road to love is bumpy and filled with anger, mistakes, disappointment and always hope.

EXCERPT:

I took another swallow of cinnamon-flavored booze and made a face as it burned down my throat. Maybe I could breathe fire. I needed to be able to if I was going to make it through the summer with Affton Reed looking over my shoulder. She had some of the strongest shields I’d ever seen. If my fire wasn’t hot enough, it would bounce off her and burn me to a crisp.

The sun was down, and I was pretty much sitting in the water now. I thought about lying down and letting it lift me up and carry me wherever it wanted. I wasn’t drifting anywhere good on my own. I heard splashing and felt the air behind me stir. No longer alone. No longer left to my own devices and bad choices.

I took another swig from the bottle, draining it, and looked over my shoulder at the girl making her way toward me. Her hair looked silver in the darkening light, and there was no mistaking the annoyance on her unmade-up face. She looked at me then shifted her gaze to the empty bottle in my hand. Her lips pulled into a frown, and her eyebrows tugged down into an angry V over the top of her nose.

“You aren’t going to make anything about this summer easy, are you, Cable?”

I had a thing for her voice. It was a little bit husky and a lot sweet with that slow, southern Texas twang in it. The way my name sounded when she said it, all exasperated and frustrated, was fucking sexy. It made me wonder what it would sound like when she whispered it in the dark while I was inside of her. I’d imagined that more times than I could count over the last eighteen months.

“I don’t really do easy, Reed.” I looked at the empty bottle in my hand and contemplated tossing it into the Gulf. Knowing my luck, I’d hit some endangered marine life and give the judge one more reason to add months onto my sentence. Instead, I reached up and handed it to the leggy blonde who was now standing next to me, the water well above her ankles.

“Jesus. Did you drink this whole thing?” She sounded incensed, and when I rolled my eyes up to look at her, it was clear she was contemplating hitting me over the head with the very weapon I’d just handed to her.

I shrugged. “Pretty much.” The bubbly teen girls barely had the chance to put a dent in it before I swooped in and snagged their stash.

She sighed from where she was hovering above me. I jolted in shock when she suddenly lowered herself to the wet sand next to me, the water immediately soaking into her frayed cutoffs and swirling around her ankles and hips as she copied my pose, my empty bottle caught between her feet. She leaned forward, rested her cheek on her knee, and gazed at me steadily out of those mesmerizing eyes. “I tried to tell your mother this was hopeless. I warned her there is no helping someone who doesn’t want to be helped. I don’t want to be here, Cable.” Her voice was hard, and I was surprised that her admission hurt a little bit. I didn’t want to be around me most of the time, but I was used to other people flocking to me, vying for my attention. “I don’t want to be here, but I have to be, so that means you’re stuck with me no matter how difficult you decide to make the next couple of months. I don’t have a choice.”

I wanted a cigarette. I needed something to occupy my hands and my mouth. I’d left the smokes and m y t-shirt on the steps of the deck off dad’s house. The steps led to the beach, just a few feet from the water. It was a beautiful house on a prime piece of property. With Affton here, it was nothing more than an expensive jail cell.

I knew exactly what means my mother had gone to in order to get Affton to agree to this madness. She told me outright she was blackmailing my former classmate, I think in a thinly veiled attempt to make me care about someone else’s future if I wouldn’t care about my own. I knew if I drove Affton away, her father would lose his job. It wasn’t fair, but my mom had been nothing short of ruthless in her pursuit of my sobriety. “My mom can be very convincing when she puts her mind to it.” She could also be tough as nails and immovable when she wanted something.

Affton snorted and shifted so her chin was resting on her knee instead of her cheek. She looked out over the endless landscape of water and sky, and I shivered even though it wasn’t cold. I lifted a hand to run it through my hair. My unease lived inside of me, crawled all around my bones and under my skin. I wasn’t used to it making its way to the surface because of someone else. There was a lot unsaid between me and this girl. The few words we’d exchanged were powerful, important ones that hung heavy between us. It was so much easier when I looked at her, and she refused to look back.

“I don’t think convincing is the word I would use…more like conniving. Either way, she tied my hands, so succeed or fail, you are stuck with me until the end of summer. Let’s get you into the house so you can sleep this bottle off and pray you don’t get popped for a piss test tomorrow.” She grabbed the bottle from where she had plunked the base in the sand and lifted a pale eyebrow at me. “You should have picked something…” she trailed off and gave me a shrug. “Less wussy to enjoy your last binge with. This stuff tastes like toothpaste.”

She offered me her free hand, and for a second all I could picture was grabbing it and pulling her under with me, letting the water cover us both and take us somewhere we would both rather be. I didn’t. I took her hand and struggled to my feet. Months of forced sobriety tumbled away under the wash of cinnamon whiskey. I wobbled and almost went back down, but before I could nose dive into the shallow water, Affton was there, arm around my waist, empty bottle pressed into my side, a chilly reminder that I’d already fucked this up and it was only the first day.

I had no idea how either one of us was going to survive the summer, and if we did, I had no idea how I was supposed to survive beyond that when I was once again left to my own devious and duplicitous devices.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About DevilSide:

Unable to continue living on the path her father created for her, Gigi Moretti does something she’s never done before.

She takes a risk.

When musician Maxwell Mitchell waltzes into an old diner in the early morning up to his elbows in secrets, he offers Gigi the perfect escape from the future she’s never wanted.

It takes an over the top demand from her father and a shocking revelation from her fake fiancé to get her to pack her bags and ride shotgun on Max’s spontaneous tour across the country.

As she and Max grow closer, Gigi learns what it’s like to throw out her overbearing workload and be an actual 21-year-old. She quits her job, eats too many Cheetos, tosses out her pink wardrobe, and takes a job as Max’s manager.

She’s finally free, living her life free of her dad’s grip and falling in deep with the musician whose songs hold stories no one will ever uncover and whose past includes a secret hero named Aiden he credits for his survival.

The more time they spend together, the deeper they fall and the closer she gets to the truth. Despite the unknown, she’s happy. She has a job she enjoys, she’s making plans for a future she’s actually excited about, and she’s living with a boyfriend who adores her.

Everything is perfect.

And then she meets Aiden.

And it all changes.

MY REVIEW

Top Read of 2018!

Wow! This book was amazing!

I went into this book honestly not knowing what to expect. The blurb intrigued me and I had several thoughts on who Aiden was, but I can honestly say I was not expecting Aiden to be who he was. Dailey reveals the secret of Aiden early on. I loved that. As a reader, I felt omniscient and a little bit powerful. Despite knowing about Aiden, most of the characters did not. It was pretty fantastic.

Gigi has lived under her father’s oppressive thumb her entire life. She wants out and she wants to make her own choices. Max is a carefree musician with a sexy smile and an unmatched zest for life. When Gigi accepts an invitation to join Max on a summer-long road trip, they grow closer and slowly fall for one another. But Max is hiding something big that could threaten their happiness.

I am enamored with this book and the characters. The first few chapters, I wasn’t too sure, but it grew on me quickly and became a page turner I had trouble putting down. The author takes great care with her characters, developing them in measured increments just big enough to keep us hooked. I wanted to jump ahead, but I just couldn’t. I had a searing need to experience it all.

The book builds nicely, developing the characters of Max and Gigi and their relationship at the perfect pace. It all leads to a big climax at approximately 75%. Many books I’ve read reach this point and then rush to the finish line. There was no rush here, but it wasn’t a leisurely stroll either. The final fourth of the book was yet another example of Lacey Dailey’s writing. We are treated to resolutions and discoveries. Loose ends are tied up. Relationships change. It was a perfectly satisfying and sweet HEA with a really a nice epilogue that just made me so happy!

I am so thrilled to have discovered this new to me author and to have read this amazing book!

New Release ~ 5 Stars for Switch Hitter by Sara Ney!

I knew something was wrong the second she walked in the door tonight; I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was.

Same hair color.

Same legs.

Same face.

Except…I look harder.

At the small dimple beneath her lip that wasn’t there the last time we went out. And her laugh—that laugh isn’t as loud.

This isn’t the girl I’ve gone out with the past few weeks.

It’s her twin sister, and they’ve switched places on me.

Only I’m not quite ready to let them switch back.

My Review

5 Stars!

Switch Hitter is a quick, fun read from Sara Ney. It was previously part of an anthology, but not it is available to everyone and you’re going to love it!

Lucy and Amelia are identical twins, but that is where their similarities end. Lucy schedules two dates for the same night, so instead of coming clean to one of the dates, she asks Amelia to go in her place. Dante “Dash” Amado is sexy as hell and not as dumb as Lucy thinks.

This was a fast read at novella length. It is also a brief introduction to characters you will see in Ney’s upcoming new series. The plot was fun. Ney’s great, easy-to-read writing style shone through. Amelia and Dante, and even Lucy were great! Despite being a quick read, there was plenty of character and plot development.

I loved it and I know you will, too!

5 Stars!

A Top Read of 2018!

I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this book is! The writing, the story, the characters, the climax… that HEA! All of it amazing! This is one of my favorite re-tellings of the Snow White/Little Snow fairytale I have ever read!

I won’t give a lot of story details, because spoilers super suck! What I will tell you is that it has all the elements of the Grimm fairy tale with a little Disney thrown in and Myers has thrown the perfect contemporary twist on it, weaving the theme of snow so perfectly through the book in more ways than one.

Neve (Snow White) is a great character. She is flawed, honest, caring and real. She is a character you can fall into. Charm (Prince Charming) is certainly not like the fair-haired, royal prince. In my opinion, he was better. He was still written to be her rescuer, but he wasn’t perfect, by any means. He didn’t ride in on his steed (or motorcycle as it may be) and rescue her. The seven men (or Seven Dwarfs) are a ragtag bunch of bikers that you can’t help but love. At times, they are the stars of the book.

The most impressive part of this re-telling, in my opinion, was Myers ability to weave this complex backstory that gradually revealed itself through the book in bits and pieces as journal entries. They were kept to the minimum and only used as plot drivers at the appropriate places throughout the book. It was perfectly done. I am not much for flashbacks, especially when they are overused or seem forced. That was not the case here, so kudos Ms. Myers!

Honestly, I can’t find one thing I didn’t like. The book was well-paced, a good length and there were no pesky plot holes. Heck, she even managed to keep the true bad guy under wraps until the perfect moment.

An amazing fairy-tale retelling. An amazing read!

“Will Clint be in a good mood when he comes home tonight?” I whispered the words as I shook the black orb in my hand.
‘Don’t count on it’ appeared within the blue triangle and I let out a small sigh of disappointment.
So much for a peaceful evening.
Maybe relying on a Magic 8 ball to solve my problems wasn’t the best use of my time, but I had nowhere else to be. I’d become what my parents had feared most—an unemployed nobody, shacked up with her loser boyfriend.
I certainly never saw it working out like that.
“You either need to buy something or leave.” The store owner glared at me from the other side of the counter and I immediately felt guilty—as if I’d been doing something wrong.
“I was just browsing—” I said calmly before he interrupted.
“I know what you’re doing—you’re either casing the place or looking to shoplift. I don’t tolerate either; so get out.”
I opened my mouth to protest when he pointed to the sign hanging on the door.
‘We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.’
I tossed my purse over my shoulder and held my head high as I walked out. I guess novelty stores were cracking down on the types of customers they allowed.
The bell chimed over the door as it swung shut behind me and I turned around with a smirk, middle finger in the air. That smirk faded the minute I caught my reflection in the glass.
Is that what I looked like?
No wonder he threw me out.
My hair hung in unwashed clumps around my shoulders. My eyes were sunken in, cheeks concave. A fading yellow bruise was the only color on my ghost white skin.
I lowered my hand and turned away. I couldn’t bear to stare at myself any longer. It was like staring at a stranger. The shopping center was almost empty, save for a handful of cars. Everyone was off enjoying their fourth of July weekend. I bet the Res was packed.
The Boulder Reservoir was a popular hangout spot and this weekend would be no different. In another life, I would’ve been out there with friends.
A lone desk chair rolled aimlessly across the parking lot as the breeze caught it and I found myself mesmerized by the sight of it.
How had something like that ended up here?
It was a great metaphor for my life. That chair and I had a lot in common. I should’ve graduated a couple of months ago. Instead, I was here, watching my life roll past.
What goes up must come down though.
I’d convinced myself that because Clint had personal feelings for me, he’d never let me get addicted. I had this crazy idea that he somehow had my best interests at heart.
I was wrong.
Clint was no longer Clint.
In his place was a temperamental monster. The insidiousness was subtle and his skill at hiding it was better than the mob. Once I’d sobered up enough to see how bad things had gotten, it was too late. The man I loved had been taken over by addiction.
So, I made excuses for him—I said I’d never put up with abuse; then again, I also said I’d never do drugs. It was a bit like a lobster in a pot of water that was slowly getting hotter. By the time the lobster realized that something was wrong, it was too late—the damn thing had been boiled alive.
There weren’t any shades of gray when it came to my relationship with Clint either. I’d seen enough over the years to know that I was firmly ensconced in ‘accomplice territory.’
If the cops ever caught on to his illegal activities, I was going down as well.
I noticed the owner of the shop watching me suspiciously, so I moved over a few buildings before sinking down onto the sidewalk.
The breeze picked up again and the chair rolled a few feet to the left before coming to a stop. I’d never wanted to be an inanimate object more than I did in that exact moment.
A drop of crimson hit the sidewalk between my legs, quickly followed by another. I stared at it in confusion until I realized it was coming from my nose. Again. I wiped at it with the back of my hand. Instead of being concerned, it just made me crave another hit.
This had to be rock bottom. My life had become a vicious circle of white snow and blood red reminders that I needed a fix. I was headed nowhere—scratch that. I was headed toward my imminent death, yet I was too far gone to stop now.
My mind no longer raced with thoughts of ‘coulda, woulda, shoulda.’ It was wholly occupied only with thoughts of the next bump.
The most pathetic part was that I was friggin’ content to continue living like this. At some point over the last few weeks, I’d reached acceptance. I was just like that chair, letting outside circumstances move me any which way they pleased.
It’d been so long since I’d made up my own mind on anything—so long since I wasn’t under the influence of either cocaine or Clint.
I told myself I was smarter than the drug; convinced myself that I could handle it. Instead, I was completely powerless against it all.
I stood up and pinched my nostrils closed in a poor attempt to stop the bleeding. I inhaled through my mouth and immediately began coughing as the blood ran down the back of my throat.
The chair continued its path across the parking lot, not even stopping to say goodbye.
Lucky chair.

Shannon is a born and raised Texan. She grew up inventing clever stories, usually to get herself out of trouble. Her mother was not amused. In junior high, she began writing fractured fairy tales from the villain’s point of view and that was the moment she knew that she was going to use her powers for evil instead of good.

In 2003, she moved to Denver and met the love of her life. After some relentless stalking and a few well-timed sarcastic remarks, the man eventually gave in to her charms and wifed her so hard. They welcomed a son in 2007 that they named after their favorite Marvel superhero, Spiderman.

Sick of seeing beautiful mountains through their window every day, the three escaped back to the desolate landscape of the west Texas desert in 2009. She welcomed her second son not long after and soon realized that being surrounded by three men was nothing at all like she’d imagined in her fantasies.

After an unplanned surgery in 2014 and a long pity party, she decided to pen a novel about the worst thing that could happen to a person in order to cheer herself up. She’s twisted like that. Thus, From This Day Forward was born and the rest, as they say, is history.

Not only does Shannon enjoy stalking people, she also has a fondness for being stalked.
