Blog Tour ~ 4.5 Stars for Two Wedding Crashers by Meghan Quinn!

I don’t know what love is anymore.

Well, that’s not entirely true, but I’m going to tell you a little secret: I’ve lost the spark.

You know the kind of spark I’m talking about?

Where butterflies take flight in your stomach from two hands innocently colliding. Or catching your breath when you first meet someone attractive. Yeah, that spark.

Except I haven’t felt that feeling in forever; there is nothing left inside of me.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem–but I’m a writer on a serious deadline, and my editor is breathing down my neck for a romantic, Nicholas Sparks type love story. No pressure, right?

That’s how I find myself flying across the country to crash a wedding in the name of research, dress and heels stuffed into my small suitcase.

It should be the easiest book research ever. Drinking some free champagne, basking in the love of two strangers, and tapping into my romantic side. That will be a breeze. I’m a pro. I can handle this.

Until I mistakenly end up in the wrong hotel room, naked as the day I was born, with the sexiest human I have ever met staring me down, wondering what I’m doing taking a shower in his bathroom. I don’t think calling it research will get me out of this pickle.

4.5 Stars!

You know, Meghan Quinn is a favorite of mine. I actually discovered her books on accident a few years ago when I won a giveaway. She sent me a signed copy of Repentance and the signature on the inside said “Love and Boobs, Meghan Quinn.” I remember laughing and thinking, “This chick just gets me.” I read Repentance in one sitting and, BOOM, I was addicted. Over the last two years, I have read nearly all of her books. I was right. She just gets me and we don’t even know each other. lol!

Anywho, fun story over.

Two Wedding Crashers… this one is up there in my top three favorite Meghan Quinn books (I’m not sure anything will top Dear Life for me.). I found TWC to be a refreshing change. Our heroine is in a rut, has lost her spark, has drifted from her center. She’s empty. She goes on this kind of crazy trip to find her mojo and she finds said mojo and more… a hot, hunky more. Hello, Spark. Nice to see you again! Spark has a name and it is Beck. Remember Beck? From Three Blind Dates? No? WTH? Put that one on your TBR, too. I liked Beck in Three Blind Dates. I LOVE Beck in TWC. Seriously, he is sexy, sweet, kind, spontaneous… pretty close to perfect. Beck and Rylee’s story is sizzling hot and full of feels, the good tingly kind.

Dear Meghan Quinn, thank you! Thank you for this book!

Chills scream their way down my arms and legs, my nipples pucker, and just like that, with one word, all humor vanishes from our little conversation and awareness of this all-consuming man wrapped around me hits me hard.

Gathering myself, I say, “Tell me something Chris and Justine know about you.”

“Hmm.” His thumbs hook under the waistband of my shorts, playing with the lower part of my hipbones. His touch spurs on my pelvis, needing to rock, begging for him to go lower. My toes curl in my sandals and my back slightly arches, reaching for more. “Something they know about me.”

His mouth doesn’t stray from its position against my ear, and his hips start to slowly move underneath me, his legs tangling with mine. Involuntarily, one of my hands hooks the back of his neck as I hold on tightly to him, feeling like I need support from the onslaught of sensation I’m feeling.

I hear him say something, but it doesn’t register in my brain, which has turned to mush as his thumbs stray from my hipbones to right above my pubic bone.

There is no denying how turned on I am, how wet I am from his mere touch, how much—despite my reservations—I want this man.

With each stroke, my head turns farther and farther to the side until our noses are touching, Beck’s head bends forward to meet me halfway. My eyes flutter shut for a brief moment before I open them and am captured by those flecks of green and gold.

The air stills around us, our breath mixing, swirling between us, our lips so close.

One swipe of this thumb.

Another one.

I can’t breathe.

I can’t focus.

Another swipe, my head leans even closer, my tongue wetting my lips.

One more swipe . . .

My heart hammers in my chest, my skin prickling with awareness.

Beck brings his mouth even closer, only a whisper away now, and he waits.

Holding still.

His breathing feeling erratic beneath me.

And I’m gone.

I bring my mouth to his, slowly parting my lips ever so slightly, just enough to maneuver my mouth across his.

A low, provocative moan escapes Beck as one of his hands snags the back of my head and holds me in place, almost as if he lets go, I’ll disappear.

Needing more, I shift on his lap so I’m straddling him once again, my hands on his bare chest, feeling the powerful sinew that holds him together.

Our lips press and mold, mingling, taking, begging . . .

Beck’s tongue runs against my bottom lip, eliciting a moan from deep within me, lighting a fire so hot, so wild, my hands start to travel up his neck to his cheeks where I grip him, positioning his head so when I open my mouth, I can expertly dive my tongue onto his.

He groans, his lap shifting against mine now, his hard-on pressing against my wet and throbbing center. I match his rocking, using my position on his lap to take advantage of his length I can feel through his board shorts.

This is exactly what I didn’t want to happen, but God, am I happy it has. Maybe I really should live in the moment, maybe I should take advantage of the opportunity, maybe I should…

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

TO THE FALL_Amazon_KOBO_iBooks (1)

You know the story.
Boy meets girl, they fall in love, two kids, white picket fence.
This isn’t that story.

This is more like . . .
Man meets woman. Man sleeps with woman.
Man meets another woman, sleeps with her.
And so on. You get the idea.

I own a small boutique hotel in New Orleans, the Kingston. I’ve seen men do some stupid stuff in the name of the woman they love, or at least the woman they love for the night.

That’s not me. I’m always in control. You’d be surprised how much you can get away with on just good manners and a smile. It’s the only way to keep my secrets safely locked away.

And my smile hides a lot. Until her.

She turns me down flat. Playing hard to get is my favorite game. It’s the thrill of the chase.

Only problem is, I think it’s me that’s getting caught.

My Review

4.5 Stars!

This one surprised me with how well I liked it. Don’t get me wrong. Going in I was excited to read it. I have enjoyed every Prescott Lane book I’ve read, but I read the blurb and was sure this would just be another manwhore reformed by a woman. Oh, it was, but it was more than that and what made the book was Pierce. Pierce is one of my favorite heroes! He is completely vain, unapologetic, nothing is ever his fault and when he meets Sutton it is like he loses it. She makes him want to change. She makes him want to be a better man. She challenges him at every turn. She protects her heart first and foremost, because chick has some big old baggage.

I loved that this was written entirely from Pierce’s POV. He is hysterically funny, shameless and you just know that under all that bravado is a huge heart just waiting to beat for someone.

Prescott Lane never disappoints me with her books. To the Fall is my favorite of all of her books thus far! I highly recommend.

Dr. Lorraine laughs and pulls out her prescription pad. Scribbling something, she turns it to me. The title reads: The sex diet.
I bust out laughing. “You’re writing me a sex prescription.”
“Sort of,” she says. “You ever gone on a diet before?”
“The thing with diets is, you usually start off strict.”
How did I know that?”
“No touching by either party, not even kissing.”
“Wait, not even a hand job?” I ask.
“You’ve got your own hands. Use them.”
She writes jerking off on her script pad, then puts a checkmark beside it. This is the craziest shit.
“Once a day as needed,” she says, writing that down.
“I’ll never make it.”
“How many times do you want?” she asks.
“At least twice, morning and before bed.”
She shakes her head. “Okay, twice a day,” she says and points her pencil at me. “That’s it.”
“I really don’t think I need . . .”
“You won’t be released from therapy until I’m satisfied you’ve completed this,” she says.
She has me by the balls, and she knows it. I can’t believe I’m being forced to agree to this, but what choice do I have? “I haven’t had sex in a couple days. Can I get credit for that?”
“No,” she laughs out. “Start fresh today.”
“What about it?”
“Can I use it?” I ask.
“You don’t have enough memories to sustain you?” she asks.
“Good point.”
She gets to her feet and sticks out her hand. “Good luck.”
Shaking her hand and smiling, I’m sure I’ve got this.
I bite the inside of my mouth, realizing the old lady has tricked me. It’s Thursday. I’m not seeing her again until Tuesday.
That’s five days! Shit, what have I done?

Blog Tour ~ 4 Stars for White Knight by CD Reiss!

White Knight an all-new romantic standalone from New York Times bestselling author CD Reiss is available NOW!

Catherine’s long-lost love is found.

Catherine Barrington is a rich girl. Chris Cartwright is a poor boy.

He left her to make something of himself. A man she could be proud of. A man she could bring home to her parents. A man she could marry.

On the trading floor he became the man he knew he could be. Now, it’s time to return.

Rich girl.

Poor boy.

She didn’t care about his money, but he didn’t believe her. Soon after he left, all the money was gone.

Her life is hell.

Now he’s back, and he’s different. Pristine. Gorgeous. Rich.

Rich boy.

Poor girl.

Money was never the barrier, until now.

White Knight is a standalone in the same world as King of Code, with its own beginning, middle, and end. You don’t need to read anything else to read White Knight.

I crossed the train tracks, looking both ways as if the freight ran on a thoroughfare. It was a few steps to the rows of mobile homes that defined that side of Barrington.

The playground was in a little clearing just west of the center of the trailers. My fingertips were cold, but the rest of my body thrummed and pulsed so hard that I made my own heat. I told myself I didn’t know what to expect from this meeting, but if I didn’t know what to expect, I knew what to hope, and they were pretty much the same thing.

“Catherine!” Chris wasn’t loud, but the excitement in his voice made him sound as if he were shouting.

“Chris?” I spun around, looking for him in the darkness.

And on a three-quarter turn, he crashed into me, all lips and hands, digging his fingertips into the muscles of my back as he pulled me close. I tasted the minty toothpaste in his mouth and thought he brushed his teeth for me. He kissed me as if he would never kiss me again. He kissed me as if this was the last kiss he would ever have in his life. As if he wanted to eat me alive. I’d given over my freedom and my choice to this thing with him, to this moment, to this stupid set of choices that would ruin me forever. As surely as the sun would rise, I was the designer of my own destruction.

I wanted to be destroyed by that kiss.

When Chris took my hand, I imagined I could feel the blood pulsing through the veins, the cells in his skin. I imagined that when my nerve endings vibrated at his touch, they connected to his somehow.

Everything felt new. I was discovering that my body had routes between one place and another that I never knew existed. I never knew that when a man touched my hand or kissed my nipples, I could feel it between my legs.

There was a click behind the tree line, and he stopped kissing me with a jerk. We froze long enough for him to smile.

My Review

4 Stars!

I liked this book, but…

CD Reiss brings us a second chance romance with a reversal of fortune thrown in. Chris and Catherine were sweethearts long ago. She was the rich girl and he was the poor boy. The went their separate ways and now ten years later they are reunited and he is the rich one and she is poor. His past as the poor boy led him to be the wealthy man he is in the present. He has been about nothing but money for the past ten years. Now that he has wealth at his fingertips, it seems like he is unhappy. Catherine is selling off her possessions to survive. The one thing that never waivered over the years was their love for each other, even though they were apart.

I loved the story at its bones. Here comes the but. But…I am just not a fan of the alternating past and present chapters thing. For me it is distracting. I actually found that I liked the past better than the present. I think Chris was a bit cold and unfeeling as an adult. Granted that changed when he and Catherine reunited and I suppose that is how he was supposed to be portrayed to the reader; unfortunately, I was not really endeared to him like I would have preferred.

Overall, it’s a good read with a good story.

About the Author

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

My Review

4 Star!

You are going to love the Murphy Brothers! I love me an Irish hero and Connor Murphy is just that!

Vernon delves into the marriage of convenience trope with this story of Connor Murphy, the wayward brother who has been living life unashamedly in America and Fallon Smith, the mousy American who works for the Murphy family as Connor’s brother, Jack’s assistant. She has never met Connor in person, just had the pleasure of calling him out of a variety of women’s beds so he’s not late for conference calls. Connor is a playboy and loves his life. When the Murphy boys’ father dies, his will stipulates they must be married to get their inheritance and their portion of the business. When Connor comes to the office and meets Fallon in person, there is a definite connection and they hit it off. Suddenly, Connor sees the solution to his problem.

Despite Connor’s reputation, he is still very lovable. He is also stubborn and apparently blind. This is my only real bone of contention with this book. There was never any question that Fallon felt more than a business arrangement for Connor and I understood her hesitation. Connor, on the other hand, was pretty wishy-washy with his feelings. He waivered back and forth in every chapter and sometimes more than once a page. It gave me a bit of whiplash, even though I knew what Vernon was going for. Fallon was a pretty great character, but at times I wanted to just kick her and yell at her to stand up for herself with her ex. Connor and Fallon’s story is good. It elicits feels and doesn’t go too far into the left field. Besides Connor’s back and forth, the epilogue was not my favorite. Everything about the book was supposed to be short term (the relationship, the agreement, etc), but when the short term/temporary/whatever was resolved, I wanted an epilogue that featured the happy couple in the future, not hours after the wedding.

I enjoyed the book. It was sweet, sexy and the characters are pretty great. I want more of the Murphy brothers and am looking forward to Sean and Jack’s books.

Chapter One

The harsh morning light streamed in through the windows as if it were a switch that made the pounding in my head even worse.

The Irish sun I swore was worse than the American one, and so was the alcohol. Nothing in the world compared to Irish whiskey and it had been a while since I’d been back to my hometown of Dublin.

My phone vibrated against the nightstand and stared at the screen until my eyes adjusted to the light I saw not only the time but that Jack’s assistant was calling me.

“Shit,” I muttered, unlocking my phone and sliding it to my ear.

“Fallon, Mo Gra, tell me your calling with some good news.”I jumped up, searching for something to cover my naked arse and found my clothes from the night before strewn across a hardwood floor.

“Using cutesy Irish pet names for me has never worked in your favor, and it especially isn’t when your brothers are wondering where you are.” Her American accent flowed through the speakers with the clicking of a keyboard loud and clear in the background.

“What’s the fun in that? C’mon, now. We’ve been emailing and having this lovely phone calls for months now. We’re practically best mates,” I said, grabbing my boxers.

“Is everything okay, Connor?” A soft voice with a thicker accent than mine murmured.

I whirled around, covering up my junk and my lucky shamrock tattoos that graced each hip bone. On the bed was a pale redhead with a devious smirk and hair more messed up than a 1980s American metal band. I’d say I shagged that one pretty good, wish I remembered it. Been a while since I’d gotten that knackered and wound up in the bed of a hometown girl.

“Is there someone in the background? Are you seriously hooking up when you have a meeting in ten minutes?”

The girl on the bed’s eyes widened, Fallon’s words booming through the phone.

“Yeah. I thought I set the alarm on my phone and would be on time. But the alarm didn’t go off and now I can’t find my pants. Think I can just walk in wearing my boxers?” My blue eyes searched the floor until I found my crumpled jeans.

“Yeah, it went off twice, and you mumbled for me to snooze it. Is that your wife on the phone? Should I be worried? ” the bed girl said in a scratchy voice, raising her eyebrows.

I shook my head as much as I could and slid on my pants.

If I didn’t get my shit together, the meeting was going to start without me. Why did I need to drink that much last night? While my brothers went home early, I just had to see what I was missing in Dublin by studying and working in America. Better than facing the fact why I was back in the country, I guess.

Funerals are as good of an excuse as any to get knackered.

“It’s my brother’s assistant. Fallon, wanna say hello to this girl who is asking if you’re my wife?” I asked with a smile that caused the girl on the bed’s eyebrows to raise even higher on her head.

Fallon groaned. “Why do I even bother calling you? This feels like Deja Vu from when you almost missed your flight out of Boston.”

“Ah, but that one didn’t involve a girl. Just whiskey. And I made that flight, thank you very much.” I held the phone between my ear and shoulder, sliding on my shirt.

“Only because I saved you with pre-boarding.”

“ Maybe when you’re done with work; you can come back. Or we can meet up tonight,” girl on the bed murmured.I combed my fingers through my hair, hoping it didn’t look as bad as hers did.

“Did she seriously ask you to come back? While you’re on the phone with me even?” Fallon’s laughter carried through the phone.

“Not now, Erin,” I said, brushing her hand off my shoulder while I tried to shimmy on my socks, not looking to see the girl’s reaction. If I hurried, I could still make the meeting on time and maybe even find a breath mint or two on someone’s desk on the way there.

“Don’t worry; I’m on my way, so you don’t need to get jealous. You’re the only girl who can bother me at all hours of the night.” I stood up and stepped into my shoes.

“Erin?” the bed girl asked with a huff.

I turned and looked at her steely glare and arms crossed over her bare chest.

“Not Erin?”

“Not even close,” she growled.

Fallon’s laugh carried through the speaker. “Oh, this is classic.”

I frowned even though Fallon couldn’t see it.

“Well, sorry Not Erin, but thanks for the sex I can’t remember. Hope it was better than mediocre for you,” I said with my hand on the door.

Never said I wasn’t an arsehole.

This caused a gasp from both Fallon and the bed girl. I quickly ran out the door, closing it before the thud of something hard hit the wall behind me. Could have been worse, I could have been cold-clocked by a shoe.

“Did you make it out of there alive after that comment?” Fallon asked.

When I stepped outside, I looked around, realizing I was only a few blocks from the office and the pubs I probably stumbled to this girl’s place from. “Ah, and the luck of the Irish is on my side, Mo Gra because I’m not far from the office.”

This wasn’t the first time I’d run to the office after a less than savory encounter with a bird. It’s how my life had been since I started Uni in America and then graduated three years ago.

“You do know this is a will reading, right? Not just you and Jack in a phone conference talking numbers?” she questioned.

“I’m very aware of what this meeting is for,” I grumbled.

I still had at least a few minutes before I was considered past fashionably late and onto acting the maggot. Running down the brick-paved streets of my childhood, I dodged the flower sellers and the older gentlemen who liked to walk for no reason at all.I wanted to come back to Ireland on better terms and not for my Da’s funeral.

Lung disease was one of the top killers in Dublin, and it hit him hard and fast. I didn’t know how bad it was until Fallon called and told me Da was in the hospital. She booked me a flight back home for the next day, but he was already gone before I even crossed the Atlantic.

“Sorry. That came out wrong.” Voices echoed in the background, and I wondered where she was in the building.

I’d seen the girl’s work photo icon in emails and breezed past her desk a few times, but never really saw her. Funny that she was someone I’d talked to almost as much as my brothers these past six months and I hadn’t formally met her.

“Where are you right now? Are you waiting for me outside the meeting room door? Hoping since Not Erin didn’t get a round two that maybe we can officially meet and hit it off?” I joked and breezed through the wrought iron gates of the Murphy Family Pub headquarters, past the secretary and front lobby, covered in photos of generations of Murphy’s who had run the company.

My family owned a distillery for years and used to brew the whiskey in downtown Dublin. The brand expanded, and my father went into the pub franchise business. Now we had hundreds of pubs all over the world, and the original distillery was currently used for a museum and pub on the first floor with corporate offices on the second.

Mam passed away soon after my youngest brother, Sean, was born. Da raised us all while building his empire and now with his sudden passing, my brothers Jack, Sean, and I were set to inherit the company. This meeting was just a formality to settle the estate, giving us our shares in the business. I figured Jack would take Da’s position as CEO with me as CFO and Sean as president or something if he wanted it.

“Your flirting isn’t cute, Mr. Murphy.”

I stopped at a mirror in one of the hallways, noticing my hair stuck up every which way and I tried to lay it down flat with one hand, holding my phone with the other. “What’s this Mr. Murphy nonsense? We’re practically family, Fal.”

She huffed. “Are you almost here? I’m almost to the conference room, and I don’t want to have to tell your brother you’re still not available.”. I started jogging, and just as I turned the corner, instead of breezing into the conference room, I ran chest first into a petite blonde who was holding a tray of coffees that had now spilled all down the front of her dress.

“Aw, I’m sorry ma’am. I didn’t mean to do a number on ya,” I said, staring at her wide blue eyes, circled by red framed glasses. She looked between me and her dress.

I expected to hear a laugh or some quip from Fallon on my phone, but instead I listened to my voice echoing through the pink dressed girl’s phone.

Recognition dawned on me as my eyes roamed over her from the top of her blonde ponytail down the soaked through dress and cardigan, showing off the curvy frame she hid under the nerdy little ensemble. Her photos and glances at her did not do her justice. She was beautiful in a natural way which made her not need the fancy clothes or too much makeup.

“Fallon. We finally get to meet. I feel like I should hug you. Or maybe undress you. You know get you out of that pink number and into something not stained.” I stepped closer, putting my arms out. I may have said the words jokingly, but the thought of her dropping the dress and taking her against the paneled wall was on the forefront of my mind.

“Are you serious right now? You need to go. You’re going to be late,” she hissed

I glanced at my watch again. Shit, the meeting probably already started. I didn’t have time to sweet talk or other things. Pulling out my wallet from my back pocket, I grabbed a few notes. “Let me at least buy you a new dress and replace the coffees.”

“What? No. Just go. I’ll take care of this.” She narrowed her eyes and slightly shook her head.

“Are you sure?” I raised my eyebrows, still holding the money toward her.

The clock near the conference room chimed, alerting me it was at the top of the hour.

“We can chat more about this later,” I said, putting my money back in my wallet. “Nice officially meeting you, Pinky. Let’s do this again real soon, ” I said with a grin, patting her shoulder before I scooted toward the conference room and shut the door behind me.

Three sets of eyes looked up from the conference table they sat around.

My brothers were in crisp blue suits with their light brown hair perfectly gelled, making me look even more like a fool than I felt with my wrinkled clothes which smelled like sex and whiskey. This wasn’t the way to honor, Da, but at least I was there and I was going to be there for his company, no matter what it took.

“Mornin’,” I said, taking my seat across from the estate solicitor, Thomas O’Malley, who looked like a real-life leprechaun with his short stature, bright red beard, and reading glasses perched on his nose.

“Glad you could grace us with your presence, Connor,” Thomas said, shuffling the papers in his hands.

“Happy to have made it,” I said, folding my hands on the table and smiling, even though my brothers audibly groaned next to me. If there was one thing I learned from Da, it was that you never showed weakness.

“Okay, let’s get started with the reading,” Thomas said, clearing his throat.

Then flipped to a new sheet. “Whereupon my death, my three sons, Jack, Connor, and Sean will each inherit their equal share of thirty-three and a half-percent of the family franchise upon the day all three of their marriage certificates are certified by a priest and again by my solicitor Thomas O’Malley, six months after the day of their nuptials. If all three of them are not married within a year of my death, none will be able to get controlling interests, and the board may offer each son’s ownership stake to the highest bidder.”

Every hair on the back of my neck stood on end. Marriage? Thre three of us? Within a year? All of that to get the company? That couldn’t be right. Da never said anything about that. Sure, he was a loyal family man, who never married or even dated after Mam died, but I didn’t think he would do something like this.Especially when the board was a bunch of crotchety old men who smoked too many cigars and were probably half the reason Da got sick in the first place.

My oldest brother Jack leaned forward in his seat. “Thomas. I could be wrong here, but is this stating that each of us has to be married and not just married, but married for six months? And this all has to happen within the year? That can’t be right. Da never even re-married or had a serious girlfriend. He used to say the pub was his only wife after Mam.”

Thomas sighed, pushing his glasses up. “You young men have done a fine job in your positions in the company, but your father also knew you were still sowing your wild oats. He wanted to make sure you settled down a bit, so the company didn’t suffer. This was his way of seeing to that.”

There has to be a clause that can get us out of this, right? I don’t even have a girlfriend, let alone a girl I’d want to marry by the end of the year.” Sean said.

I wanted to ask Sean what he even had to do with this company since he hadn’t taken an interest in anything but rugby. I know Jack had brought up more than once about eventually buying out his portion and now with us all having to be married, or none of us got the company, which put a damper on that one. Before I could ask any more questions, Thomas cleared his throat.

“Boys, I’d like to say there’s another option, but that’s what it states in the will,” he said, standing up and placing the papers in his briefcase. “You can try and get your own solicitors or a judge to dispute this, but I’ve been doing this for longer than you’ve been alive. Once this will is set and notarized, it’s legally binding.”

“Does the board know about this?” Jack asked.

Thomas nodded solemnly. “Ah, they’re aware of the clause, not all of the details, but some have already made comments about a buyout for a third of the company.”

I clenched my fists without even thinking, my gut twisting at the thought of someone else taking over the business. The one Da had built from the ground up, but Jack and I had worked to keep it a well-oiled machine on both sides of the pond. A bunch of old men with one foot in the grave would just run the franchise into the ground along with all our hard work.

Da put a lot of hard work into the enterprise. What he built. What he wanted our family to have. That wasn’t just going to disappear because of some marriage clause, I couldn’t let it.

“Can’t we just find some girl, see if she wants to get married for a few months, then divorce with a nice little settlement? Isn’t that what they do on those American reality shows for publicity?” Sean asked, staring between all of us.

Thomas shrugged. “I guess there’s nothing in the will that says you can’t, but how do you think the board would take that? Moreover, your Da would probably roll in his grave if he heard you married a girl just to get the company. Your mother was the love of his life and the reason he was able to make this company what it is today. He just wants the same thing for you boys. Not some random fling.”

“I’m sure there are worse things we could do,” Sean muttered, buttoning and unbuttoning his suit jacket.

“If we have nothing else to discuss, then I best be heading back to the office. You’ll call if you need anything and let me know as soon as I get to meet the future Murphy girls,” Thomas said with a tight-lipped smile.

We walked him toward the door, but none of us left the room.

Jack was the first to speak as soon as Thomas rounded the corner and was out of sight. “What the hell are we going to do?”

Sean shook his head. “I don’t know. This wasn’t at all what I was expecting. Hell, I guess I’d better get on a dating app or something.”

“This isn’t a joke,” Jack growled.

I put my hand on his shoulder, trying to calm the beast a little, but his nostril’s flared. “Calm down, Jack. We’ll figure this out. We always do.”

His dark blue eyes didn’t move from the empty hallway. “This isn’t about deciding where to put a new pub in America or marketing expenditures. This is marriage. This is our company. Our future.”

I nodded solemnly. We all knew what was at stake here and the only way to solve our problems was with a wedding. Something I never even thought I would be thinking about. Now I had no choice. I was going to be a married man by the end of the year, and so were my brothers, no matter what it took.

Falling in love with your best friend’s sister is never a good idea. Getting caught kissing her, that’s even worse.

I watched Lizzie Donovan grow up – from pigtails and scraped knees to pouty lips and lush curves.

It wasn’t until one night nine years ago in the front seat of her car, with her lips on mine, that I realized what I was feeling was far more than friendship.

Of course, I felt her brother’s wicked left hook shortly after.

One promise was all it took to push her away.

Not anymore.

This is my chance.

I have three months to convince her that she’s the song in my heart and we’re more than just forbidden lyrics.

My Review

4 Stars!

This is a sweet romance between Brecken and Myles’s little sister, Lizzie. They both have harbored secret feelings for the other after sharing a kiss many years ago. But, you know the score, Myles saw, was pissed and he threatened Brecken. It affected their relationship, thus all the tension between them. It develops at a perfect pace and Larson adds just the right amount of tension and angst to draw out the drama. The interaction between Lizzie and Brecken are sexy and smart, the emotions palpable. I enjoy this series and I think Larson has written a pretty great story for Brecken and Lizzie. I also slightly enjoyed the fact that Myles got taken down a peg. 😉

The house lights dim, leaving the whole place practically in darkness. A hush falls over the crowd as if the lack of light was in control of their voices. Pretty sure we’re the only table that knows what’s about to happen.

The steady beat of a drum, counting out a punishing rhythm break through the silence. A bass guitar joins in, followed closely by two more guitars. It’s a pattern I’ve heard all my life. Each instrument getting its turn to take the spotlight before coming together as a whole.

A spotlight cuts through the darkness and every girl in the room loses their mind before rushing the stage. Flashes from cell phones compete against the swirling lights illuminating the dance floor. The four of them stand there, perfectly comfortable in their surroundings, taking command of the area. Kade winds at the girls in front while Myles struts his stuff along the right side of the stage. You can barely see Pax’s head above the drum set, but every once in a while, you sneak a glimpse of his smile.

But that’s not what I’m focusing on. No, I’m drawn to the one standing off to the side, keeping a constant rhythm and not drawing as much attention to himself. Damn. If I thought Breck looked good sitting on a bar stool, he looks a million times better with a spotlight shining directly on him.

Don’t miss the other LIGHTNING STRIKES books!

No one should have their life planned out at the age of three. Yet that’s exactly what happened to Adrienne Carmichael. Paving the way as the “piano prodigy” was all her parents wanted…Only she didn’t.

All she wished for was to be normal, to be a regular teenager and everything that came with it—including the decisions that would shape her life.

Wish granted.

Ten years later, scarred and broken, she knows that being alone isn’t everything she imagined. The piano is finally everything, except nobody will ever hear her play again.

All that changes when a sexy-as-sin rock god blows into her life. Tall and tattooed with jet-black hair and a dangerous bad boy smile…he’s every girl’s fantasy.

To her, he’s a distraction, yet Kade Evans is everything she shouldn’t want.

Instinct tells her to run, but she can’t get him out of her mind.

But may, just maybe he can be the one to pull her from the shadows before the darkness swallows her…for good.

I love women.

And it’s easy to see why. Being the lead guitarist for the country’s hottest band, Lightning Strikes, has them practically jumping into my bed and walking out the door just as quick. Which is perfect for me. Emotions complicate things, and I don’t do complicated.

Not anymore.

Sure, I was in love once, and it was great. Then it was gone. That’s when I vowed never again. Life is better without empty, broken promises.

After five years of hard work, sacrifices, and determination, everything I’ve ever wanted is in my grasp: a successful career, touring city after city and being accountable to no one.

Then she starts appearing in the crowds. The girl I once loved, and who walked away.

Only, Tatum Mitchell wasn’t just any girl; she was my girl.

Will she be the wedge that drives the last part of my heart away, or will she break down the walls I’ve built. We’re connected through the lyrics of our heart and the notes of our past, but is that enough?

Her eyes came up, a flash of recognition there. “Yes?”

“Are you going to sign the contract or do you have more questions?”

She picked up the pen sitting on top of the contracts that would bind the two of them together for the next six months. They would reevaluate the relationship at that point in time, but for the next six months, she was his. His bodyguard. His submissive.

Bought and properly paid for. He would take care of her and she would give him what he needed.

She signed with a flourish and sat back, a gleam of curiosity in her eyes.

He was curious, too, and there was zero reason to not satisfy their curiosity. Hard and soft limits had been gone over. They would find their communication style as they went along. But first she should understand that he was in control.

“Come sit on my lap.”

She didn’t hesitate. She stood and turned, shifting so she could maneuver her way onto his lap.

Her weight came down on him and he wrapped an arm around her waist. Damn but she made him feel big. He’d seen her take out a man twice her size, but sitting here in his lap she felt small and vulnerable, and fuck but that did it for him.

He slid a hand along her knee, letting himself indulge in the silky-smooth feel of her skin against his palm. “Did you do as I asked?”

He was well aware his voice had gone husky, deeper than normal.

“Yes, Joshua.” She squirmed the tiniest bit, as though trying to find a comfortable position. It might be difficult for her because she was sitting right on his cock, and it was harder and thicker than he could ever remember it being.

“How can I trust you?” This was all part of the game he loved. Here he could let go and play out the darker of his impulses—to control, to take, to possess.

See. Want. Have.

“You’ll have to check,” she replied. “Though shouldn’t we go inside?”

He reached out and picked up his cell with his free hand, pushing one number and connecting to the security room. He put them on speaker. She needed to understand what she was up against in order for the game to be fair. “Landon?”

“This is Burke,” the deep voice replied. “Shane’s on patrol. What can I do for you?”

“Burke, I would like to fuck my submissive on the third-floor balcony. Is anyone watching us? Can you see any cameras pointed our way?”

A low, masculine chuckle came across the line. “No, Mr. Hunt. And given the angle relative to the beach, you should enjoy your evening without worry. The only peepers I would worry about would be your next-door neighbor, and Jared is out for the night.”

“I wouldn’t care if he wasn’t. Keep up the good work.” He hung up and his hand tightened. “I would prefer when we’re playing that you don’t question me like that. I know where I want to fuck you. I know when I want to fuck you, and I’m in charge. If I want you in the middle of a crowded freeway, your only response is a yes or a no. Not to question me.”

She seemed to relax back against him, as though she was giving up the struggle and choosing to submit. “Yes, Joshua. Yes, I understand, and yes to the sex. Please.”

He liked the breathy please and loved how she squirmed. Still, he wasn’t absolutely sure she’d obeyed him, and he was a man who required proof. He slid his hand up her thigh. “Spread your legs for me.”

Her knees fell apart, and he could feel the heat from her core. He slipped a hand up until he made contact with her softest skin. No panties. Nothing but wet heat waiting for him, and it was obvious the play had cranked her up, too. His free hand eased one button on her shirt free, and then another and another until he could move in like a soldier conquering territory. No bra. Her breasts were like the rest of her. Soft and delicate. One nipple rolled against his palm, hardening then and there.

“I can see you’ve been an obedient sub,” he said, his mouth against her ear. “You need to stay that way or there will be punishment. I’m not a sadist, Kayla. I truly don’t get off on your pain, but I will give it to you if you need it. I am a disciplinarian. I gain satisfaction from your obedience. In exchange, I’ll show you how good it can be to obey me.”

Blog Tour ~ 3.5 Stars for Sweet Revenge by Natalie Wrye!

Men. Manuscripts. And Manolos…

I was failing at two of the three.

Dating life aside, when you’re an agent for a successful publishing press, climbing the corporate ladder isn’t your biggest problem… Staying there is.

So, when the biggest football star in the world wants to write a tell-all about his life and career, I put my bid in right at the top.

My only issue?

Mr. Playboy Pro is none other than Colton Evans, my CEO’s step-brother.

A walking wet dream with dark features and an even darker past, I find that behind the fan-favorite smile is an arrogant bastard.

The worst part? I think I like it.

But when getting to the truth of Colton’s sordid story takes an unexpected turn to trouble, everything I love will be on the line, including my job… and my heart.

My Review

3.5 Stars!

I think this one had a ton of potential, but I just couldn’t like the hero, Colton.

Colton grew up poor, while his half-brother grew up rich. His father didn’t acknowledge him. His mother was his father’s mistress and he paid her to go away. Apparently, that gives you license to grow up to be a giant douche canoe. Colton is a rich, football player and wants for nothing. He takes whatever he wants consequences be damned. He sleeps around… a LOT! So, forgive me if I found him a bit too over the top. Oh, and everything single thing he thinks or says is aggressive. In my head, the guy just went around shouting everything.

Ana is Colton’s object of desire and she just so happens to be his hated brother’s sister-in-law, a fact he is well aware of. She, on the other hand, has no idea he is the long lost brother. She’s a literary agent and he has a tell-all book that needs to be promoted. A book that exposes her brother-in-law and sister’s family. Ruh roh, Shaggy.

The writing is really good. It is fast-paced (maybe a little too much at times, but not so much it detracts from the story), clever and witty. While I didn’t like Colton, I did like the witty banter between him and Ana. Ana is pretty sarcastic herself, so sometimes it is a bit overwhelming, but overall I liked their back and forth. The revenge plot was soapy and campy and I loved that. The book sort of steamrolls along but you do get a satisfying HEA in the end, so it’s all worth it.

Not my favorite of Natalie Wrye’s books, but if you can get past Colton’s obnoxiousness then you should find a pretty entertaining read.

Love is the strongest emotion in the world…next to hate.

I knew hate. Had known it since I was seventeen. For me, it was love turned on its head, a product of hurt and fear—twisted, tied up…and placed on the sculpted shoulders of Ethan Riske.

Dayton, Tennessee.

Home to the best cow-tipping in the world, the biggest hot dogs, and the lousiest sex.

Or so I’d heard…

They were right about the first two. Ethan Riske proved them wrong about the third and at seventeen, he and I spent a summer under the stars, squeezing our way out of trouble, sweating and panting among the haystacks.

Until he left.

Nine years later, when a huge publishing house tries to buy my small press, I storm into the office of the CEO to find him.

Same cocky grin. Different name.

And suddenly all I can think about is exacting revenge on Ethan Riske for breaking his contract…and my heart.

But there’s someone who wants revenge even more than I do. As I begin to fall for the new Ethan, will the sins of the old one come back to haunt us?

Blog Tour ~ 4 Stare for Baby Maker by P. Dangelico!

Baby Maker by P. Dangelico
Publication Date: February 20th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Stella Donovan’s biological clock is a ticking time bomb.

The successful financial manager has spent her adult life building a career and neglecting her personal life. Problem is, she doesn’t believe in marriage. Not after watching her mother be treated like garbage by her father. Nope, marriage is not for her. All she wants is a baby. All she needs is a man to agree to her terms.

Dane Wylder, recently retired NFL tight end and future Hall of Famer, wants a baby.

Naturally, marriage is off the table. He’s not the marrying type. Women are great––as long as they’re trying to get into his bed and not his heart. But after years of living only for himself, he’s ready to be a father.

Sparks fly when a successful financial manager and a legendary football player enter into a legal agreement to have a kid together. They planned on everything––they just didn’t plan on each other.

My Review

4 Stars!!

P. Dangelico is back with a doozy of a romance!

So, we have two characters who don’t believe in love, Dane and Stella, but both want a baby. When they are hooked up by a mutual friend, they decide to create a legal agreement to co-parent a child, no feelings involved.

We all know how that turns out…

So, it isn’t as simple as they meet, say “hey, I want a kid, but love blows. Let’s have a baby together and co-parent.” No, definitely not that easy. In the beginning of this book, I kept thinking to myself time and time again that I have never read two more stiff characters. No, seriously. Stella is uptight, boring and a workaholic. All, I could think in the beginning was this chick should not be a mother, the poor child would just be another item she bought because it was the thing to do. She was all work, work, work, sex is blah and unnecessary (say what?!) and gee, I have an expensive Italian couch and Armani suits. Yawn… Dane was just as obnoxious on the other end of the spectrum. He was brash, obnoxious, and kind of rude. However, Dane had a softer side underneath his brash exterior that made him a guy you wanted to sympathize with. This two were something else to the point that I felt sorry for their future kid.

Then, about 25-30% of the way through, things do a big, fat 180 and FINALLY Stella becomes a human. There is a LOT of back and forth banter between Stella and Dane and some of will make you want to slap some people upside the head. Communication is NOT their strong point.

Once the turnaround happens, the books sped by and I found myself turning page after page with no intention of stopping until the end.

One of the things I love about P. Dangelico is her writing. It is easy, fun and she adds just the right amount of snark without being too overbearing or taking away from the romance of things. I do wish she would have included the birth of the baby, but I get it, that wasn’t really what the book was about. It’s just that I love that moment when the big, strong dude goes all soft over the baby. lol!

Honestly, I would read anything Dangelico writes. She has a knack for putting the right amount of everything needed into a book and turning out something you can’t put down! Baby Maker is pretty, darn great!

Grabbing the pot of freshly brewed coffee from the coffee maker, he stares into the pot then drinks from it. I don’t bother to tell him it’s decaf. Throat working as he swallows, he holds up his index finger.

I’ve got a finger for him, the middle one.

“I don’t know what’s gotten into you but I’ve had enough.” He continues drinking. “And word of caution, if you come back to New York and continue to treat me like I’m cattle, a possession, you will damage this friendship beyond repair.”

He places the pot down, his eyes downcast as he leans on the counter for support. “I’m sorry…I was a real asshole last night and––”

“Last night?!” I shout. “How about for the past week.”

“Well you’re not helpin’ the situation!” he shouts back, his eyes sparking, then winces again.

My jaw hangs in disbelief. He can’t be serious. Is he really blaming me?

“The hell are you talking about? You’re blaming me? Me?! You’ve been unbearable––when you’ve been around, that is. Usually you’re running in the opposite direction. But somehow in your twisted little male peanut sized brain, it’s my fault?!”

“Yes, goddamit! Dancin’––smilin’ at that fucking cowboy!” His hand slashes through the air as if he’s indicating to someone in the corner. The veins near his temple pop up. Eyes impossibly wide, he advances on me, stopping a mere foot away. “You never smile at me like that!”

Huh? “What does that have to do with anything?!”

“Because I’m jealous! Okay! And you’ve made it very clear you’re not attracted to me but all I can think about is this!”

He’s on me before I can blink, arms crushing me to him, kissing me like I hold the last breath of air on the planet and he means to steal it.

A beat later he stops. His lips against mine he murmurs, “Kiss me back…please kiss me back.”

My Review

4.5 Stars!

This book is just fun all around! A sassy, witty heroine who puts the hero in his place right from the start. A hero who is undeniably sexy and infuriating, but man he talks a good game! The spark is ignited and the flame burns bright people! Harper Kincaid’s writing is fun, flirty and effortless. The story is sweet with just the right amount of unexpectedness that you won’t be able to put it down!

Born in California and raised in South Florida, Harper Kincaid has moved around like a gypsy with a bounty on her head ever since. For years, she was a jill of all trades and a master of none, but is now tickled hot pink to pen stories that break and mend people’s hearts for a living. Kincaid believes seduction occurs from the neck up, which is why her characters are smart, sexy, and slightly quirky – and definitely worthy to be your next hard-core book crush.

When not writing, she adores listening to indie, lo-fi, complaint rock played on vinyl, the theater, well-informed optimism, happy endings (both kinds), and making those close to her laugh ’til they snort. She is a self-admitted change junkie, loving new experiences and places, but has now happily settled in the cutest lil’ town, Vienna, Virginia.
