4 Stars!

What an expectedly fun read!

Angry Annie is more than just a romance. It is a book about self-discovery, finding the unexpected and, of course, finding love.

The characters in Angry Annie are a hoot, especially Annie. She is like a cactus – prickly on the outside but soft and sweet on the inside. She drives the entire book in every way possible. Even in ways you won’t understand until later on. Joslyn is a great main character. She is flawed, but you feel for her and can’t help but root for her. Rhode is sexy and a little shy, but all man when it counts. The secondary characters are perfect.

I loved this rom com to death!

Dear Reader:

STOP. Don’t waste your time going any further. This book sucks like a plunger in a toilet bowl. I don’t know what to say about this woman’s lack of talent. I’d like to call her an author, but just because you put a bunch of words on paper doesn’t make you a writer. Heck, my cousin’s five-year-old granddaughter wrote a three-sentence story about pizza that’s better than this. Dawn . . . what kind of ’70s hippie name is that, anyway? People name their kid Dawn when they’re too lazy to think of a real name. I’ve always preferred dusk to Dawn and she’s reminded me why. Go watch TV instead. Save your money. You’re welcome.

BLOG TOUR_FIXING HER

Fixing Her, an all-new friends to lovers romance from debut author Miranda Elaine is available NOW!

FixingHer_PB

When we were younger, Temperance Price was the quiet girl with dreamy eyes who hung on my every word. She was always beautiful, but I had plans to get out of Red Oak and make a life of my own.

Ten years later, a crushing tragedy has brought me home again—right back to her.

The innocent girl I left is gone, and in her place is a sassy single mom I can’t get out of my head. She’s hired me to fix her house, but I have other things in mind.

She thinks I’m just a handyman.

She thinks we’re only friends.

She thinks I’ve never noticed her.

I think what really needs to be fixed is her whole perspective.

Quesarasera Book Blog’s Review

4 Stars!!

This is a lovely debut novel from an author to watch!

This book is quite good. The writing is great and it reads quickly. The characters are all likable. There isn’t a “villan” so-to-speak, no other woman/other man drama and no cheating. The book is pretty tame as far as the sexy times go. The author takes care with the story, focusing on the characters and the plot and leaving out all the unnecessary fluff. Asher is great. He is nearly perfect, but at the right moment in the story you will detest him and his overreaction. Temperance is a bit different. She is likable, but at times I wanted to scream at her for her self-sabotage. There is a secret in the book and the author eludes to there being some kind of secret that Temperance is harboring. I figured out the secret, but I give the author props for not making it glaringly obvious.

A bit of a second chance romance vibe coupled with a single mom romance, Fixing Her is a delightful read with a perfect twist.

FIXING HER TEASER 1.jpg

Excerpt:

I’m nervous but excited. My gut says to run away, but the glass of wine I just finished off is telling me this is an excellent idea. Feeling brave, I hold the phone out at arm’s reach and take a selfie of me sitting on top of my unmade bed.

Times like these make me glad I’m not great about washing the small amount of makeup I wear off before bed. Typically, I just use a baby wipe right before I fall asleep to wipe off whatever bit of mascara survived the day.

Today’s makeup, though light, is still present. I’m spread across the bed in my tiny black shorts and my favorite red tank top with a shelf bra built in. Before logic can make its way into my brain I hit send.

I review the picture and instantly regret fills my stomach. I felt so brave thirty seconds ago. But staring at it now, I see the small rolls of my stomach, and my chest needs more support than the tank itself can provide. Those are not perky twenty-year-old breasts. Those are the breasts of a woman who’s edging toward thirty and has had a baby. I’m ashamed of the dark circles under my eyes.

Why did I send that pic?

Asher: Fuck

My heart sinks. He probably sees all my flaws, too. In a dimly lit house they might not have been noticeable in passing. But on a phone screen, where you can zoom in they’re just there for the seeing.

Asher: Wow. That’s an incredible sight.

I’m unable to conjure a complete thought, nothing sexy, witty, or interesting. I’m frozen, knowing he’s staring at a photo of me, in awe.

Asher: Ok, my turn.

I’m not in any way prepared for what he sends. I’ve seen him shirtless. Hell, I can’t believe I’ve seen him nearly naked in person, felt him in the palm of my hand. And still, I’m in shock at the sight of him stretched out on his bed in just a pair of thin gray sweats, his hand on top wrapped around the outline of his long, thick cock.

I stare for too long at that hand holding that cock firmly. I almost don’t even notice the smirk on his face. He knows how attracted I am to him. Just being around him makes me weak, and by the look on his face I’m guessing he knows how turned on this sight is making me.

My resolve weakens. It’s not even just his hard body or amazing face. It’s the patience he’s shown my daughter. It’s his willingness to spend his time and skills to help me. It’s how he came home to relieve his parents of the stress and pressure of losing a son and attempting to run a business. It’s everything I don’t deserve to hold so close to my heart.

He’s a remarkable man. A man that in a different life, at a different time, I would fight tooth and nail to make mine.

Asher: You still there? You’re starting to hurt my ego.

Me: Yeah. 🙂 Just setting your profile pic on my phone.

Asher: Better make sure it stays locked then.

Me: No worries. I cropped it a tad.

Asher: Just a tad?

I giggle. There ain’t nothing tad-like about that cock.

Me: Well . . . maybe more than a tad. 😉

New Release ~ 4 Stars for Want You by Jen Frederick!

WANT YOU
By
New York Times Bestselling Author Jen Frederick

Summary:

Bitsy

I might be only nineteen, but I know what I want. It’s Leka Moore. I don’t care that he took me in when he was barely more than a kid himself. I don’t care that he raised me. I don’t care everyone thinks being with him is wrong. I know we belong together, and the only person I need to convince is him.

Leka

I found her in the corner of a dark alley. If I hadn’t taken her with me, she would’ve died that night—or maybe worse. Before I knew it, she became the light in my dark life, the haven from the madness. I watched her grow up. I tried to teach her right from wrong. Now that she’s an adult, I’m feeling things that no good man should ever feel. But then…I’ve never been a good man. I have a chance at redemption by saving her from the greatest danger of all—me.

Quesarasera Book Blog Review

4 Stars!

Jen Frederick mixes it up with a slightly taboo, romantic suspense that was engrossing and amazing!

I don’t want to to give anything away, so this review will be brief, but know this… the blurb gives a good synopsis, but there is so much more to this story!

The book is written in two parts, which I feel was the perfect way to write this. The entire book takes place over the span of many years, which allows for the development of Leka and Bitsy’s relationship at the perfect pace. There is love and family and loyalty and danger in this book. It is not what it seems, yet exactly as it is. If that makes any sense at all.

I really enjoyed this read and if the prologue was foreshadowing, then I am crossing my fingers for more from Leka and Bitsy’s world!

Review Blitz ~ 4.5 stars for The Upside of Falling by Meghan Quinn!

Tucked away at the base of the Rocky Mountains lived a little boy with one singular dream: leave this broken and battered home and become someone.

Be somebody’s hero.

That boy was me—Colby Brooks. Except I’m not that same little boy anymore.

My dreams might still be the same, but my reality isn’t.

I’m smarter. Stronger. A man.

And I learned a long damn time ago, the only way to achieve my dreams was to avoid distractions—at any cost.

Focus. Resolve. Determination.

But all it took was one single night. One night and my entire life…changed.

One night had me colliding head first with the biggest distraction of my life; Rory Oaks.

Smart. Charming. Beautiful.

Rory changed everything.

Quickly, my one-track mind started to bend.

Each kiss faded decade-long dreams.

And with one single incident, I fly off course.

My Review

4.5 Stars!!

Oh dear Meghan Quinn! How I adore you! But, how could you have kept this beautiful book from us for so long?!

Meghan Quinn is amazing! The Upside of Falling is like nothing she has ever written (in my opinion) and this book completely consumed me from the very start! It was hard-hitting emotion from page one. I felt for Colby. His life wasn’t easy making him rigid and regimented, closed off to feelings and love. Rory swept in like a tornado, full of emotion and need. She didn’t really give Colby a chance to back away. She patiently waited while pushing just enough.

This is a duet, so there is a pretty hefty cliffhanger. Like kind of soul-wrecking, if you ask me. I dropped my ereader and just stared at it like it had burned me, which it sort of did. Well, not the ereader, but my dear Meghan Quinn. I am dying for the next book. I must have my HEA!!

Head turned down, pushing the sleeves of his white Henley up his arms, he swaggers toward me. His jeans hang low on his hips, held up by the same brown belt he wore the other night. His narrow waist directs my eyes to the center of his jeans, and I can’t help wonder what might be behind the crotch of his pants.

And then there is his chest. Barrel like, broad and prominent. His thick biceps showcase his strength, and the fabric of his shirt stretches over his shoulders and forearms. Having spent a lot of time at the gym, I’ve seen every body type, but Colby’s is different. He’s strong, built, but not like a body builder. His body seems to suggest the only kind of weight he’s been lifting is his own body, pushup after pushup. I can’t imagine there being barbells in his workouts, but I can imagine logs, cadets, and heavy machinery. He has working muscles, the kind you earn from hard, dedicated work on the field. In a word? Impressive.

Walking up to Stryder, he grips his friend’s shoulder and says something into his ear. A smirk crosses Stryder’s face before he moves over to our side of the bowling alley and takes Colby’s place.

Is he leaving? Already?

Might as well at this point. It’s not like he’s going to talk to me, not after my pathetic attempt at a bet. I should have known I was going to hang out in the gutter all night. It’s where I usually am when I’m bowling. I blame the ball. The thing has a vendetta against me.

Sighing, I prop my chin in my hand and watch Stryder expertly toss his ball down the lane, getting a strike . . . once again. And just like every other strike, he pumps his arm up in the air and celebrates. We get it, you’re good, no need to—

“Hey.”

That voice . . .

Stunned, eyes wide, not able to move, not wanting to scare him away, I keep my eyes trained forward, soaking in that beautifully deep voice of his for a brief moment before saying, “Hey.”

“Can I sit here?”

Still keeping my eyes trained forward, I say, “Sure.”

My body tingles with awareness of how close he is to me, that fresh laundry scent invading my senses, prickling the little hairs on my arm. My body leans toward his, wanting a little more, searching for anything else he might give me. I don’t know why he’s choosing to engage me in conversation, but I’m sure as hell not moving while he does.

“Sorry about tonight,” he says and he actually sounds sincere.

“Why are you sorry?” I mumble.

Reaching around, he takes my cheek in his hand. The callouses on his palm rubbing against my skin is a welcome sensation. As I’m turned toward him, I steady my breathing. I’m having a hard time slowing my heart rate because of his close proximity, and the unexpected touch shooting a wave of heat through my veins.

“I’m sorry you didn’t get to ask me any questions. I didn’t think you were going to suck that bad.” A playful smile tugs at his lips, and my heart sinks to the floor. Oh God, he’s so gorgeous, especially when he smiles.

Matching his smirk, I say, “I didn’t think I was going to suck that bad either.”

“I feel bad.”

“You should.” That garners a laugh, deep and throaty, the sound cloaking me like a shield, protecting me from the outside world, bringing me into a little bubble where we are the only two that exist.

“Ask me a question.”

Shocked, I swallow hard and say, “Really?”

He nods and holds up his fingers. “You get three.”

“Oh, three? Wow, I feel like you just gave me the key to your soul.”

Rolling his eyes, he adjusts his stance on the barstool and leans back, giving us some space, our knees still knocking into each other. “Easy killer; it’s just three questions.”

“Yeah, three questions I didn’t have before.” Tapping my chin, I try to think of good questions, but now that I have him willing and waiting, nothing comes to mind. I wasn’t prepared for this, he caught me off-guard, and now I feel I can’t be strategic about my probing. “Hmm . . . what do you like to do on the weekends?”

“Jump,” he answers.

Searching his eyes, lips quirked, I say, “Uh, you’re going to have to be more specific than that. What kind of jumping are we talking here? Like jump roping? Because that seems kind of weird to do on the weekends, and if you tell me you’re in some kind of jump-roping club at the academy, I’m not going to believe you.”

His lips curve up as he scratches the side of his jaw. “Jump out of airplanes.”

Oh.

Oh.

That’s . . .

Uh, that’s really hot.

“So you just casually jump out of airplanes?”

“I’m part of the Wings of Blue, the academy’s parachute team. We jump every day, at least two to three times a day after class and before dinner, depending on wind and ceiling limits. On the weekends, some of the guys, including Stryder and me, go to Springs East Airport and do civilian jumps. The more jumps we get in, the higher the chance we’ll be considered for big demonstrations, like parachuting into football games and major sporting events for the Rockies and Broncos.” Ummmm. Did anyone else just hear how many words he gifted me? And seriously? Does the man have no clue how incredibly sexy he is when he talks about something he loves? The expression on his face . . .

“Wow, that’s . . . that’s really hot.” I chuckle. “Sorry, I don’t mean to fangirl over your parachuting, but I guess I wasn’t expecting that answer. You just jump out of planes?”

He slowly nods. “Every day.”

“Anything to get you up in the clouds, huh?”

“Yeah,” he answers shyly, rubbing his jaw. “Okay, next question.”

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Title: COUNTERFEIT BOYFRIEND

Author: Cindi Madsen

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Counterfeit Boyfriend:

My twin brother’s talked me into a lot of crazy things, but taking his place on a road trip with his girlfriend so he can party with his friends is a whole new level of insanity. What’s even more insane is I somehow find myself agreeing to it—thanks, alcohol, guilt, and bribery. I’m determined to undo the arrangement, but then I meet Gwen, this sexy redheaded hurricane of energy and brains.

And then she kisses me. Just like that, I’m driving her up the coast, on our way to a wedding with a mess of complications. With each hour and each stop, I’m falling harder and harder for a woman who doesn’t know my actual name.

I’m trying to do the right thing. Or the lesser of the wrong things. All my life I’ve had to clean up my brother’s messes, but for the first time ever, I’ve landed the upper hand in one of our switcheroo schemes. Now I’ve just got to come clean and convince Gwen that I’m the brother she should be with.

My Review

4.5 Stars!

I loved this book! It was unexpected, fun, sexy and full of feels! There is nothing fake about Counterfeit Boyfriend!

Counterfeit Boyfriend is part fake boyfriend, part twin switch, part road trip romance and it is all great! Gwen is dating Evan, who may not want to date Gwen anymore, so he sends his twin brother, Ethan, in his place to accompany Gwen to her best friend’s wedding in her hometown. Sparks fly, but Gwen thinks they are with Evan, even though she has noticed differences.

I loved this! It was clever and fun. Ethan is an amazing book hero. He is kind and passionate and yet he was torn about what he was doing, but he just couldn’t stop himself. The feelings between Gwen and Ethan develop quickly. There is some serious chemisty jumping off the pages and I appreciate that Madsen didn’t moves things too quickly.

This is a really great new book from Cindi Madsen! I highly recommend!

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story begins in Blood Type and continues in Blood Cure.

My Review

5 Stars!

Gah! This series! This is by far my favorite vampire series! K. A. Linde has written a masterpiece paranormal romance series that just slated me.

Blood Match picks right up where Blood Type left off and it doesn’t slow down. Reyna is in grave danger and fights tooth and nail to get back to her beloved vampire, Beck.

The thing that makes his stand out is the story. Reyna and Beck are an amazing couple, fated lovers with an unbreakable bond. Linde poured so much into these two and it is so evident in every word. It makes me invested and feel.

Don’t miss this series!

“Please.” She wasn’t above begging. “I’ve waited so long.”

“I won’t bite you,” he said, his face sliding down between her legs. A fang nipped at the sensitive artery in her inner thigh. “But I bloody well want to.”

Did she even care if he bit her? It would be a relief after what she’d endured. A relief to feel that connection so acutely. But she wouldn’t press him this time. She remembered how they’d gotten carried away. He’d taken too much, drank too deeply, and she could have died. They needed to take it slow.

The blood. Not the sex. She needed that right now.

His finger slicked through her wetness and began to massage her clit. She vibrated from the sensation. She didn’t know if she’d be able to hold out before he was inside of her.

Then his eyes found hers again. His boxers disappeared and then his cock was in his hand. He massaged the length of himself as he watched her walk on a tightrope. Any second she was going to fall off and into oblivion. Nothing and no one had ever made her feel so good. No. No one had ever made her feel.

“So . . . close,” she ground out.

One powerful thrust seated him to the hilt within her. She cried out as he stretched her to the max. No warning or preamble just his cock inside of her, filling her to completion.

Her walls clenched around him. She was so close, but instinctively, she knew he wasn’t going to let her release without him.

Then he started moving. A slow pull out and a quick drive inward. Once, twice, three times.

“Not yet,” he said, his eyes commanding.

She tried to hold back. She could wait. Oh God, she could wait.

Then he started up the rhythm again. Setting his own course, owning and claiming her body. Reclaiming everything that he’d lost in that one moment of stupidity on her part. In his one moment of weakness.

She could see in his eyes the weight that loss had cost him. The toll it had taken on him for giving into his urges, for finally relinquishing his hold on himself. His eyes said he’d never do it again. His eyes were a promise.

“Becks, come with me,” she cried, clutching the sheets.

He grasped her hips and owned her body where he refused to own her blood. Taking everything she would give him, but not everything he wanted. Not everything she wanted.

She was so close. She looked in his eyes and knew they would finish together.

Reyna woke up screaming.

She jolted upright in her overly plush king-sized bed with its too many pillows and too much softness. Her hair was plastered to her face. Sweat coated her body, soaking through the thin white shirt she’d worn to bed.

Her eyes adjusted to the dim lighting and she looked around the small room. Everything was in place. Nothing had changed. Not a damn thing.

Beckham wasn’t here.

It had been a dream. A sick dream. A desperate horrible dream.

Her hand moved to her cotton panties and found the slicked wetness still there. The ache still building in her lower half from lack of release. The aftereffects of the dream. It had felt so real. So very real.

She had felt him moving inside of her. She had seen the love in his eyes. She had known his remorse.

But none of that was real.

That was her imagination at work. Conjuring his face just to torture herself with his absence. Remembering the feel of his body and the love in his eyes, only to know that he hadn’t found her. Aching for one more view of him.

It had been fifty-five days since she’d last seen his face.

Reyna made a mark in the notebook next to the bed.

Fifty-six.

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

New Release ~ 4 Stars for Chasing Him by Kennedy Fox!

John Bishop isn’t your typical single dad.

Reserved, impatient, and utterly clueless.

Running the family’s bed and breakfast has many perks. Working long hours, picking up after the guests, and hearing couples going at it all night long aren’t any of them. Hooking up with girls who come to the ranch for horseback riding lessons? Best perk of them all.

That is until a baby shows up at his doorstep with a note claiming it’s his. Growing up on a ranch was anything but easy, but raising a newborn is proving to be the hardest task he’ll ever tackle. Leaving the bachelor life behind, his only priority is to hire a nanny who can teach him a thing or two about parenting—except he doesn’t anticipate her being gorgeous and quirky with an unhealthy football obsession.

Mila Carmichael has many talents—making balloon animals, creating origami art, and remaining in the friend zone. Often seen as one of the guys, she’s struck out more times than a rookie baseball player.

Seeking a new adventure, she flies to Texas to visit family and is offered a position she can’t refuse. Helping out a new dad should come easy to her, considering her past experience, but what she doesn’t anticipate is him being an attractive Southern temptation.

But that’s only the beginning.

While growing close to his family and falling madly in love with the baby girl who’s stealing their hearts, things are bound to get complicated. Everyone knows not to mix business with pleasure. That means no late movie nights, no stolen glances, and definitely no kissing behind closed doors. Too bad the universe has other plans—one that’ll threaten taking away the main thing that binds them together.

My Review

4 Stars!

Gah! I’ve been waiting for this book! I knew that John’s book was going to be great, but this was more than I expected. It was an unexpectedly fresh take on the single dad/surprise baby storyline. John is a typical Bishop. He’s sexy, but stubborn. Sweet, but an idiot. Mila was the perfect match for him. She was sweet, but sassy. She was tired of being friend-zoned and stood her ground when it was most important.

John and Mila had quite a few obstacles in their path, but their path to their HEA makes for an entertaining read!

John’s POV

As soon as I walk into the living room, I see Mila in tight blue jeans and a low cut shirt that shows way too much cleavage.

“Nope.” Resting my hands on my hips, I look at her, trying not to stare at her chest. It doesn’t help that her nipples are hard as a damn rock either. Fuck. Eyes up.

“Nope, what?” she asks, furrowing her brows in confusion as she grabs Maize out of the swing.

“You can’t wear that shirt. Actually, we should probably set some ground rules since you’ll be staying here around the clock.”

Mila rolls her eyes and kneels down in front of the carseat. She’s dressed Maize in an outfit that says something about Grandma being her favorite, and I know Mama is going to love it. “Is that what you do ‘round here? Make rules for everyone?” She arches an eyebrow with a cocky smirk on her face.

Tilting my head, I narrow my eyes and study her. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Ask Jackson.” She carefully places Maize in the car seat and straps her in. I suck in a deep breath remembering the nanny rules I’d given Jackson, the ones she wasn’t supposed to hear.

“Jackson needs rules. He has zero boundaries. And it’s not like he listens to anyone anyway. Trust me. It’s an open invitation to flirting and ridiculous comments from him. So you can’t be wearing shirts like that around him.”

“…or I can’t be wearing shirts like this around you?” she quips, not paying any attention to how frustrated I’m becoming. “I think I can handle Jackson, so stop worrying yourself.”

“Whatever, Mila.”

She straightens up and looks me dead in the eyes. “You’re my boss and you can make any crazy rules you want when it comes to your baby, but you don’t get to tell me what I can and can’t wear, unless you’re instating a dress code for me and if that’s the case, I want a raise and a clothes allowance then.”

I scoff, crossing my arms over my chest that’s rising and falling rapidly. “How much for you to wear baggy overalls and turtlenecks every day?”

“You’ve got jokes, do you?” she mutters, not amused. “Why not just put a chastity belt on me too while you’re at it?”

I grunt, thinking that’s not a bad idea actually.

New Release ~ 4 stars for Eternity’s Awakening by Anne Malcolm!

Anne Malcom is stopping by today for the release of ETERNITY’S AWAKENING, book 3 in The Vein Chronicles! Check it out and grab your copy now!

Title: ETERNITY’S AWAKENING

Author: Anne Malcom

Genre: Paranormal Romance

About Eternity’s Awakening:

Heartbeats had a pesky way of complicating things.

They almost always came with the nasty side effect of humanity and finally… death.

Since Thorne came into my life, I’d been plagued with both.

Heartbeats and humanity.

Both of these things were going to be the death of me.

One way or another.

And the death of everyone I knew and loved, a list growing longer with every beat of my newly repaired—and irritating—heart.

That pesky humanity was almost as toxic as the most debilitating illness on this hunk of rock, killing more humans than any vampire could.

Love.

And there I was, attached to a slayer who I couldn’t be undead without.

Friends who I was becoming increasingly attached to.

All things—people—he would take away from me.

Then he’d take me too.

But if it came to that, I’d yank out my beating heart and crush it in my hands before he could touch me.

It was lost anyway. If he won, my eternity would come to an end. As it happened, so would the world.

That only meant I couldn’t lose.

Isla and her complicated undead life are back in book three of The Vein Chronicles only her life is infinitely more complicated. She and Thorne continued to scortch pages with their smoldering selves. Isla is opening up to friendships and it leads to some pretty great interactions and glimpses at Isla’s softer side. There are suprises that will… well, surprise you.

One of my favorite paranormal series, Eternity’s Awakening continues the saga!

“We need to talk about him,” Thorne said, his voice tight.

“Who?” I asked, swiping my face with blush and pretending to be innocent.

It didn’t work well, despite me being an excellent actress. Someone as fucked up as me couldn’t even feign innocence; they could only ruin it.

Plus, I knew who he was talking about. I could sense it in his very words. We hadn’t uttered his name since we left the compound, and the all-night sexathon did not warrant such conversation.

Thorne’s quicksilver gaze bored into my reflection. “Your fucking husband.”

I paused for a sliver of a second before I resumed applying my makeup. “I’d say that our marriage is considered null and void after he faked his own death and then tried to kill us both, don’t you?” It was a considerable effort to keep my voice tight with sarcasm and nothing else, but I did it.

“He was something to you, Isla. You told me as much when you told me the story of his death.” He paused. “He was something to you, and now he wants you back. And he’s made it quite clear that he’s going to kill every single person who gets in his way. I didn’t miss your reaction when Alexus said those words.”

I put the brush down, laying my palms flat on the marble counter, glaring at his reflection. “No, he was something to the human I used to be,” I corrected, my voice rising slightly. “He’s nothing to the vampire I am now. Nothing but another target to take out in the middle of this war.” The lie sounded weak even to my ears.

Thorne stepped forward, face tight and blank, his energy swirling around me. “You may be able to lie to yourself about that, but you can’t lie to me. There’s still something there. He still has something over you,” he rasped, coming to stand behind me but not touching me.

I pretended I didn’t care, that I didn’t crave his touch, that I didn’t need it to chase away the sickness that carried Jonathan’s memories. “He doesn’t. Videos weren’t invented five hundred years ago, so he can’t show everyone how dreadfully dense I was,” I retorted. “Nor can he broadcast my equally dreadful fashion sense, so I’m good.”

Abruptly, Thorne’s fist shattered my reflection. Glass rained down around us, and the fragrance of his blood filled the air, mingling with his hot and wild fury.

“Stop it!” he roared, snatching my shoulders to painfully twist me around.

The pop of my shoulder dislocating echoed through the room.

I gaped at his fury-filled eyes. They were so far gone he hadn’t even noticed injuring me in the midst of it.

“Stop with the jokes, with the sarcasm,” he hissed, voice a blade. “I watched it. I watched you fucking freeze and turn into some kind of robot in the middle of the battle at your parents’ house. Watched you walk toward him. Nothing has control over you. Or I’d thought that until I saw him. He has control over you, Isla.” It was an accusation, but it was something else too, something more than jealousy.

Something like dread. A sickening premonition of the visceral fear he’d feel when we were faced with Jonathan again.

But I wasn’t about to inspect it, because it would mean that I had to recognize whatever feelings had been dredged up from the grave along with Jonathan. “No one has control over me, Thorne,” I lied. “Not even me.” My voice was pure ice. “And especially not you.”

I wrenched myself out of his grip and stormed from the room.

He didn’t follow me.

New Release ~ 4 Stars for Just One Touch by C. A. Harms!

Title: Just One Touch
Series: Oh Tequila Series #3
Author: C.A. Harms
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: June 19, 2018
Publisher: Limitless Publishing
I should have known this would happen…

Nothing about my fraternity was ever simple. Parties, tequila – tons of tequila – and wild souvenirs from our kind of crazy.

Never, and I do mean never, did I expect my brother’s girl to target me in a midnight prank. A prank that backfired and left me squealing in pain.

Have you ever seen those shows, the ones that say the “dirty deed” sent you to the ER? Well, I went to the ER, and yes, my manhood was involved. Let me just say I gained absolutely no pleasure from it. Unless, of course, you consider that sweet nurse who treated me.
The problem? She hated me…and I had no idea why, but I wasn’t willing to let her walk away until I figured it out.
Emelie was feisty, and I’d never felt the type of excitement I did after spending only five seconds in her line of fire. I was gonna enjoy this…way more than I should, and I knew it.

She saw, she conquered, and I was defeated.
All it took was just one touch, and oh, what a ride it was.

My Review

4 Stars!

Just One Touch is my favorite of the Oh, Tequila series!

A college party boy plus a single mom student makes for one great story. There was so much emotion in this book. Harms took Clay and Emeilie and wrote a heartfelt story of a single mom who finds her match in the guy she thought was her nemesis. There is humor, romance, misunderstandings and, of course, sexy times. The secondary characters are great, some of them familiar faces from previous books in the series. The books moved along quickly but not so quickly it feels rushed, but Clay and Emelie do fall for each other pretty quickly. I wouldn’t call it insta-love, just a rapidly progressing relationship. 😉

This is a definite read!

C.A. Harms is like any other addicted reader. She enjoys happy endings and HEA love stories. She hasn’t always been a lover of Romance and had once been addicted to a good Mystery. Just recently she has taken on a new liking and now is a full blown Romance novel addict.

She lives in Illinois and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. You will always find her with her kindle or paperback in hand as it is her favorite pass time.

Blog Tour ~ 3.5 Stars for Overcome by A. K. Evans

Today we have the blog tour of A.K. Evans’ OVERCOME! We are so excited to share this fantastic new release with you!

Title: Overcome

Author: A.K. Evans

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Overcome:

It only took a matter of moments for Lexi Townsend’s life to change. Her power was taken, her trust lost. Her bubbly personality was smothered by the depressing weight of shame and guilt.

Four years later, Lexi yearns to get back to the former version of herself. A stronger version. One who is no longer afraid to share her story, her body, and her trust. When Private Investigator Cruz Cunningham comes into her life, he proves he’s a man that’s deserving of her trust.

When multiple women in Windsor go missing, it launches Cruz and the Cunningham Security team into action. As Cruz digs deeper into the investigation, he’s torn between finding the missing women and protecting the woman he loves. Putting her faith in Cruz, Lexi never imagines that this case could destroy everything she’s worked so hard to overcome.

WARNING: This novel contains references to rape and sexual assault and may trigger discomfort in some readers.

My Review

3.5 Stars!

Trigger warning – if you are triggered by stories about rape and sexual assault, than this may not be for you.

I had very mixed feelings about this book. I appreciate A. K. Evans willingness to write about a difficult topic, but I had a hard time with Lexi herself. I just didn’t connect with her character. Cruz was a good hero with his patience and understanding for Lexi’s situation. What made this book good for me was the mystery aspect. Who was responsible for the missing women in Windsor? I had my suspicions from the start and I was pleased that while the culprit wasn’t a surprise, Evans did a good job of keeping the identity of the culprit nicely under wraps until the right moment.

I wasn’t a fan of the writing, it was a bit frenetic and lacked flow, but the story itself was good enough to keep my interest.

About the Author:

A.K. Evans is a married mother of two boys residing in a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania. After graduating from Lafayette College in 2004 with two degrees (one in English and one in Economics & Business), she pursued a career in the insurance and financial services industry. Not long after, Evans realized the career was not for her. She went on to manage her husband’s performance automotive business and drive the shop race cars for the next thirteen years. While the business afforded her freedoms she wouldn’t necessarily have had in a typical 9-5 job, after eleven years she was no longer receiving personal fulfillment from her chosen career path. Following many discussions, lots of thought, and tons of encouragement, Andrea decided to pursue her dream of becoming a writer.

Between her day job, writing, and homeschooling her two boys, Evans is left with very little free time. When she finds scraps of spare time, she enjoys reading, doing yoga, watching NY Rangers hockey, dancing, and vacationing with her family. Andrea, her husband, and her children are currently working on taking road trips to visit all 50 states (though, Alaska and Hawaii might require flights).
