MORE THAN EXIST by Bethany Lopez
Women’s Fiction / Contemporary title

Love can exit your life as quickly as it enters it, shattering your heart in the process.

It’s been a year since my husband was taken from me in a tragic accident. I thought it would kill me. Now, I think I’m ready to start healing.

My mother says my idea of taking a solo cross-country road trip is crazy, but I see it as my road to recovery. Along the way, I’ll have to deal with the poor choices I’ve made since Ricky died. I’ll have to overcome the terror that his death has caused me. I’ll have to find my balance again.

And once I meet Luke and his young son, I’ll have to decide if I can take the risk to do more than exist and learn to love again.

“Hi,” I said, putting on a brave face and descending the stairs to greet them. “I’m Belle, you must be Matty.”

“Hi, Belle,” Matty said with a sweet grin, instantly melting my fears away. “Are you named after Belle on Beauty and the Beast? Is California always sunny? Have you been to the ocean? I’ve never been to the ocean, but I want to build a sand castle. Did you know mares can be pregnant for up to three hundred and sixty days?”

I laughed, utterly charmed as Matty put his hand in mine and pulled me up the stairs and into the house. I turned back to look at Luke, who was smiling and shaking his head at his son.

“No, I didn’t know that,” I responded as we went into the kitchen. “Yes, I’ve been to the ocean. California isn’t always sunny, but it usually is, and no I wasn’t named after that Belle. My full name is Mirabelle, which was my great-grandmother’s name.”

“Oh,” Matty replied, then yelled, “Cookies!” and proceeded to shove one almost entirely in his mouth.

Blog Tour: 5 Stars for Honor: The Breaking Point by Jay Crownover!

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Jay Crownover returns with her most complicated hero yet, in the first book in the romantic suspense series The Breaking Point.

Don’t be fooled.

Don’t make excuses for me.

I am not a good man.

I’ve seen things no one should, done things no one should talk about. Honor and conscience have no place in my life. But I’ve fought and I’ve survived. I’ve had to.

The first time I saw her dancing on that seedy stage in that second rate club, I felt my heart pulse for the first time. Keelyn Foster was too young, too vibrant for this place, and I knew in an instant that I would make her mine. But first I had to climb my way to the top. I had to have something more to offer her.

I’m here now, money is no object and I have no equal. Except for her. She’s disappeared. But don’t worry, I will find her and claim her. She will be mine.

Like I said, don’t be fooled. I am not the devil in disguise… I’m the one standing front and center.

 My Review:

5/5 Stars!!!

This review is spoiler free!

Wow!  I knew Nassir was dark and dangerous, but I had no idea he was so complicated!  Jay Crownover has hit it out of the park with Honor!

In Honor, Jay Crownover takes us an insiders’ view of the man who controls The Point.  In the prologue, Crownover an honest and thorough review of Nassir’s past from his POV.  It was eye-opening insight and helps explain why he is the way he is.  However, in past appearances, Nassir has always appeared controlled and in charge.  In Honor, we see a more vulnerable and human Nassir, especially where Keelyn is concerned.

Keelyn is a tough cookie.  She comes from The Point and considers The Point her home.  After getting shot (in a previous book) in Nassir’s club, Honor saw Nassir’s vulnerability when it came to her and it scared her enough she took off to Denver.  There is a nice cameo featuring a beloved character from one of Crownover’s other series and mention of another character.  That was a nice surprise!  Keelyn returns to The Point on a mission to take her place in The Point and to figure out her role in Nassir’s life.

Keelyn and Nassir have a complicated past and things do not really get easier, but their relationship evolves.  These two are hot together.  They are quite perfect for each other.  Watching, or reading as it is, how things played out between them was satisfaction that has been a long time coming.

I warn you, this book is dark and brooding.  The romance is unconventional and complicated.  As with all of Crownover’s books, the writing is light on dialogue and heavy on internal monologues.  I admit, I sometimes wish for more dialogue, but I still enjoy everything she has ever written.  The Point books being my favorite series.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes dark, brooding and complicated anti-heroes and strong, complicated heroines with a side of mystery and suspense.

Another Crownover masterpiece!

New Release! 5 stars for Tonic by Staci Hart

Title: Tonic
Author: Staci Hart
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: October 13, 2016

Joel Anderson doesn’t take anything seriously. Not his relationships, which have been few and far between since his brutal divorce. Not the drama of working in a tattoo parlor, which seems to be around every corner. When things get him down, he smiles and cracks a joke. But he’s not the kind of man you cross, or you’ll find yourself at the wrong end of his fists.

Annika Belousov takes everything seriously.

Like her job as a reality television producer, given that she typically has something to prove. Or her love life, which is defined by a series of requirements — affluent, ambitious, accomplished, to name a few. Definitely her family, who worked their whole lives to afford her every opportunity, a sacrifice she doesn’t take lightly. When she’s tapped to produce a reality show at Joel’s shop, she doesn’t think twice, just goes in for the kill, as if there were any other way.

The second Annika walks into Joel’s shop, he makes it his mission to crack her open, but she’s not having it. He’s all wrong — too crass, too hairy, too un-serious. But it doesn’t take her long to find out there’s more to him than smirks and tattoos. And what she finds could put her career and his heart on the line.

Not that Joel cares. Because for the first time in a long time, he’s found his tonic.

My Review:

5/5 Stars!

This book was just beautiful! Beautiful perfection!

Annika is proud of her nickname as the Ice Queen. She keeps her cool mask in place while at work, because she has worked hard to get where she is. Then, she meets Joel and all that control starts to slip. He is business, a job. She doesn’t get involved with anyone. Except, all she can think about is Joel.

Joel has had a rough romantic history. After a cruel betrayal, he has closed off his heart to love and fulfills his needs with a string of one-night stands. Then he sees Annika and he feels something he hasn’t felt in a very long time…a connection, a desire, the need for someone.

This book pulls out all the feels. There were light moments, moments that made me laugh out loud, moments that made me angry and then there were these moments of pure book perfection, some of them happy, some of the not so much, but still perfect in the moment. I picked this book up and read the entire thing in one sitting.

Staci Hart brings us another emotion-filled story of finding love that you won’t want to miss!

Alexander’s Blood Bride

by Lorelei Moone
Vampires of London, #1
Publication Date: October 13, 2016
Genres: Adult, Paranormal Romance, Vampires, Novella, Romance

Alexander's Blood Bride Cover

Amazon (#FREE with #KindleUnlimited):
Synopsis: Cat has never been a social butterfly. The only reason she even agreed to go to the stupid Halloween party was because her friend and room mate Shelly wanted to attend. When she gets spooked upon almost falling into bed with the host, she’s convinced it was all a big mistake. And what’s worse, now people are stalking her wherever she goes!
Alexander Broderick has been hosting his annual Halloween parties for over a century. While his contemporaries use them as an excuse to engage in all kinds of debauchery, his own motives are more benign. He wants to converse, to get a feel for the times they live in through its people. But when Cat walks into his house, he forgets himself and is compelled to seduce her. There’s only one problem: she’s a so-called Blood Bride – a mortal woman whose blood smells so delicious that every vampire in town wants to drain her.
He knows he’s the only one wanting to keep her safe, but can’t act as long as she wants nothing to do with him. And then there’s his own growing hunger to contend with. Can he protect her from the rest of the vampire community, as well as his own lethal cravings?
It’s the ultimate forbidden romance; the love between a mortal and a vampire. What is it that makes flirting with death so utterly tempting? Read on and find out.

Alexander Broderick stood at the top of the curving stairwell in the center of his
Kensington residence, surveying his domain. The party had started at eight sharp, with more
guests arriving every few minutes.

His Halloween parties were an age old tradition, even if their grandeur and scale had
evolved significantly since the early days. A hundred years ago, he’d been content inviting a few
friends and acquaintances, all of them vampire like he was. Now, every year, the event had
grown bigger and better, featuring new faces from all walks of life.

Eternity was a very long time to spend in isolation. He craved the change in routine, no
matter how hard his maker had tried to discourage him from going overboard in the past. Of
course, ever since Julius had taken over the Council leadership, he had other things on his mind
than to monitor Alexander’s social life.

Alexander thrived on the attention these parties afforded him. On a night such as
tonight, he could step out of the shadows and into normality. Even if some guests noticed
strange things around the house, they’d accept it as part of the magic of Halloween. It also
helped that he kept the alcohol flowing generously throughout the night.

Tonight was the one night per year that the weird and wonderful became acceptable.
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. So many people. So many aromas.
His parties weren’t an excuse to feed as such; no, he could do that any time. But the
sheer variety of humankind at his feet was difficult to ignore.

Every vampire in attendance tonight would feel the same way. Alexander smiled as he
imagined the depravity that would occur within these walls.

Sex, blood, and rock ‘n’ roll. Alexander couldn’t suppress a chuckle.

They’d keep things clean enough, of course. Everyone here was keen to stretch the rules but
not break them. They wouldn’t take things so far as to attract suspicion.
They wouldn’t kill.

Alexander himself would join in the festivities as well. But first and foremost, he enjoyed
playing host.

He was especially fond of striking up conversations with first-time guests. First he’d
figure out how they’d come by an invitation, then he’d guide the conversation toward other topics
that interested him.

He was a connoisseur of sorts; like some immersed themselves in fine wines, politics, or
even sports, Alexander collected knowledge on the human psyche. Zeitgeist, as some
people called it; he loved to learn about that special set of thoughts and ideas that made
society tick. In gathering information about how people lived their fleeting lives, he sought to
find meaning for his own.

As he slowly started to walk down the stairs, he focused on acting normal; that meant
being a lot more clunky and obvious in his movements than his instincts dictated.

He was socializing, not stalking prey!

That was one of the first lessons he’d learned once he started inviting humans to his get-
togethers. If you approached them in too stealthy a fashion, they easily got spooked.
Halfway down, his friend Michael nodded a greeting as he passed him by. The much
younger vampire wasn’t one to waste time; he’d already found himself two willing females to
spend what he liked to call ‘quality time.’ Everyone had certain talents; seduction was his.
Alexander was about to continue down the steps when a presence caught him off guard.
He wasn’t sure what it was exactly. A quick scan around the room revealed that all the guests
were quite busy entertaining themselves; nobody was looking in his direction.

He sprinted back up the stairs, faster than a human eye could see, and gazed back down
to figure out what had affected him so.

The front door swung open and two women entered. One was quite ordinary, and he
could hardly tell her apart from the two Michael had just led upstairs. The other, though…

A radiant sight of womanhood.

Her floor length gown was very different from the skimpy outfits everyone else had
chosen to wear. Blood red—which in itself would have been enough to entice even the most
reclusive vampire among his company.

Raven hair halfway down her shoulder, which swayed with every step she took.

A face flawless, like that of a porcelain doll.

And curves. Her body exuded a richness that made every fiber in his body ache for her.
As different as they were, the two new guests couldn’t have been a day older than 25,
much younger than his usual choice of conversation partner.

He held on to the banister with both hands, then had to force himself to let go when the
wood groaned under his tight grip. A lot could be forgiven on All Hallows’ Eve, but destroying
the furnishing with his super-human strength would raise a few eyebrows.

Alexander focused his hearing on the two women who still stood indecisively in the hall.

One of his staff immediately approached them with a welcome drink.

“Thank you,” the dark haired beauty said. The voice of an angel.

The blond didn’t speak; instead, she just chugged the champagne and placed her empty
glass back onto the waiter’s tray. Alexander recognized her type. She gave the impression of a
hunter among humans; she knew what she was after, and was scouting the place for the right

Alexander stood frozen in place, waiting for the woman in the red gown to make a move.
The blonde had taken a few steps forward and spotted the dance floor in the reception

She waved at her companion to join her, who refused.

“You go ahead. I’ll hang back and get a feel for the place first,” the medieval angel said,
then took a small sip of champagne to make her point.

Alexander smiled and closed his eyes. Perhaps his senses were deceiving him tonight,
but he could swear that he could catch her scent all the way up here.

A hungry vampire could smell his prey from nearly a mile away. But Alexander wasn’t hungry.

At least not for nourishment.

From the moment she’d entered, the quality of the air seemed to have changed.
He knew he had to have her before anyone else. He would get to know this young
woman, learn all he could about her. Take her to his chambers and bed her. He would taste her
very essence. He had to. His instincts gave him no choice.

Before he opened his eyes, he knew she still stood in the same place; he could sense it.
When he looked down at her, he noticed that it wasn’t just him who had noticed her.
A half dozen sets of eyes had shifted in her direction.

Could they smell her too?

Alexander rushed down the stairs again, almost forgetting to follow the usual tricks to appear
more human. So far so good: the other vampires had spotted her, but stayed back for now. He
would reach her first. If her arrival had made this much of an impact, he would have to take it
upon himself to ensure her safety here.

This was his house after all. His party.

He’d never been one to lose his tongue in company, but the closer he got to the woman, the
more uncertain he grew. She wasn’t just any other human to him; she was a whole lot more
special than that.

“I hope you’re enjoying yourself?” he said as he reached her side.

She looked up at him, her eyebrows pulled together in surprise. “Who, me?”

“Yes, Miss…”

“Uh… my name’s Cat.”

“Short for Catherine?” Alexander asked, mesmerized by her pale green eyes as she continued to
look up at him.

She looked so vulnerable. He could hear her heartbeat, and the rush of her blood as it
was pumped through her body. Being so near to her tested his patience like nothing ever had.
If he’d been starving and faced with a first meal in weeks, he would have found it easier to walk
away than he did now. There was something very different about this woman, though he had
no idea what it was.

“I suppose, yes. Short for Catherine,” she stammered.

He wasn’t trying to hypnotize her, at least not on purpose. Was she under his control

How was that even possible?

“I said I hope you’re enjoying yourself,” he said, repeating his first question.

“Oh, yes.” Catherine raised her glass and smiled briefly. “And what a beautiful house this is. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

That gave Alexander his opening, a chance to get her away from all the hungry stares
from every vampire in the room.

“Perhaps you’d like to see more of it?” he asked, smiling subtly to avoid exposing his
sharp canines.

Catherine didn’t answer straight away, instead continuing to stare at him. Hopefully, she
wasn’t actually hypnotized. Alexander was looking forward to having a natural conversation
with this woman. Not a forced interrogation while she was under his influence.
“Don’t tell me this is your place?” she asked at last.

Was she just nervous? Could that be?

Alexander winked at her in an attempt to break the tension and gain her trust. “Okay, I won’t
tell you that it is.”

“Holy shit.” Catherine immediately covered her mouth with her hand as she looked
around the entrance hall again. “I’m sorry.”

“You have nothing to be sorry about. My offer still stands by the way. If you want a
tour…” Alexander said.

She looked into his eyes and there it was again, that strange feeling that had overcome
him from the moment she’d entered his home. He had to have her, discover all there was to
learn about her. Intellectually, physically, even spiritually, if that even made sense.
“I’m sorry, I just didn’t expect to end up here chatting with the host of the party

Yes. I’d love a tour,” Cat said while straightening her shoulders.

So she had just been nervous.

He wasn’t sure why, but that pleased him. Probably because he’d been a little nervous at first too.
It was silly. He’d walked this earth for centuries and seduced plenty of beautiful ladies in
his day.

As delicious as this woman smelled, what did he have to be nervous about? He offered her his
arm, which she reluctantly accepted. Her touch seemed to burn through his tuxedo right into
his skin, almost painfully.

“We’ll start with the downstairs,” he said.

As Alexander led her past some of his immortal guests into the reception room, he felt
their eyes on the two of them. There was no emotion as powerful to the senses as jealousy.
Perhaps his nerves had been trying to tell him something. This party wasn’t like every previous
one. This time, he was playing with fire.

New Release! 4 Stars for Tease Me by Roxy Sloane

Title: Tease Me
Series: The Temptation Duet #2
Author: Roxy Sloane
Genre: Contemporary/Erotic Romance
 Release Date: October 13, 2016

USA Today bestselling author Roxy Sloane brings you the sizzling, filthy conclusion to the Temptation duet!A woman’s mouth will tell you anything, but her body never lies.
That’s how I like it. I don’t get caught up in any drama, and I sure as hell don’t get attached.
Until her: Chloe Archer.
She started as a job, but now she’s more than that. And now I know how it feels to claim her, I don’t want anyone but her. On her knees. Spread wide on my bed. Up against the wall and screaming my name. I’m not fussy. I’ll take it all, a hundred times over, and still crave one more taste.
There’s just one problem: this time, I’m the one who’s lied. I guess what they say is true. Karma can be a real bitch sometimes.
But karma’s got nothing on me. I’m not giving Chloe up without a fight, and you better believe, I play dirty.
That girl doesn’t stand a chance. My body doesn’t lie either, and I’m going to show her just what the truth feels like.
Every inch. Every thrust.
All the way to the fucking hilt.
Yeah, Chloe belongs to me now. She just doesn’t know it yet.

My Review:
4/5 Stars!!
Book Two in the Temptation series is the conclusion of Chloe and Jase’s story. It picks up right where Tempt Me ended.

This is a good follow up and resolution to the story started in Tempt Me with heartbreak, revenge and a HEA. We get the real story of Chloe’s background and we finally get to see a softer side of Jase. The revenge plan is quite clever and a little bit shocking when secrets finally come to light.

The first time I tasted Whiskey, I fell flat on my face.
I was drunk from the very first sip, and I guess that should have been my sign to stay away.
Jenna and I were running the trail around the lake near her house, sweat dripping into our eyes from the intense South Florida heat. It was early September, but in South Florida, it might as well have been July. There was no “boots and scarves” season, unless you counted the approximately six weeks in January and February where the temperature dropped below eighty degrees.
As it was, we were battling ninety-plus degrees, me trying to be a show off and prove I could keep up with Jenna’s cheerleading training program. She had finally made the varsity squad, and with that privilege came ridiculous standards she had to uphold. I hated running — absolutelyloathed it. I would much rather have been on my surf board that day. But fortunately for Jenna, she had a competitive best friend who never turned down a challenge. So when she asked me to train with her, I’d agreed eagerly, even knowing I’d have screaming ribs and calves by the end of the day.
I saw him first.
I was just a few steps ahead of Jenna, and I’d been staring down at my hot pink sneakers as they hit the concrete. When I looked up, he was about fifty feet away, and even from that distance I could tell I was in trouble. He seemed sort of average at first — brown hair, lean build, soaked white running shirt — but the closer he got, the more I realized just how edible he was. I noticed the shift in the muscles of his legs as he ran, the way his hair bounced slightly, how he pressed his lips together in concentration as he neared us.
I looked over my shoulder, attempting to waggle my eyebrows at Jenna and give her the secret best friend code for “hot guy up ahead”, but she had stopped to tie her shoes. And when I turned back around, it was too late.
I smacked into him — hard — and fell to the pavement, rolling a bit to soften the fall. He cursed and I groaned, more from embarrassment than pain. I wish I could say I gracefully picked myself up, smiled radiantly, and asked him for his number, but the truth is I lost the ability to do anything the minute I looked up at him.
It was an unfamiliar, warm ache that spread through my chest as I used my hand to shield the sun streaming in behind his silhouette, just how you’d expect the first sip of whiskey to feel. He was bent over, hand outstretched, saying something that wasn’t registering because I had somehow managed to slip my hand into his and just that one touch had set my skin on fire.
Handsome wasn’t the right word to describe him, but it was all I kept thinking as I traced his features. His hair was a sort of mocha color, damp at the roots, falling onto his forehead just slightly. His eyes were wide — almost too round — and a mixture of gold, green, and the deepest brown. I didn’t coin the nickname Whiskey until much later, but it was that moment that I saw it for the first time — those were whiskey eyes. The kind of eyes you get lost in. The kind that drink you in. He had the longest lashes and a firm, square jaw. It was so hard, the edges so clean that I would have sworn he was angry with me if it weren’t for the smile on his face.He was still talking as my eyes fell over his broad chest before snapping back up to his sideways grin.
“Oh my God, are you fucking blind?!” Jenna’s voice snapped me from my haze as she shoved Whiskey out of the way and latched onto my hand, ripping me back to standing position. I’d barely caught my balance before she whipped around to continue her scolding. “How about you brush that long ass hair out of your eyes and watch where you’re going, huh champ?”
Oh no.
I didn’t even have time to call dibs, I couldn’t even think the word, let alone say it, before it was too late. I watched it, in slow motion, as Whiskey fell for my best friend before I even had the chance to say a single word to him.
Jenna was standing tall, arms crossed, one hip popped in her usual fashion as she waited for him to defend himself. This was her protocol — it was one of the reasons we got along. We were both what you’d call “spitfires”, but Jenna had the distinct advantage of being cripplingly gorgeous on top of having an attitude. She flipped her long, wavy blonde ponytail behind her and cocked a brow.
And then he did, too.
His smile grew wider as he met her eyes, and it was the same look I’d watched fall
over guy after countless guy. Jenna was a unicorn, and men were enamored by her. As they should have been — she had platinum blonde hair, crystal blue eyes, legs for days and a personality to boot. Now, before you go thinking that I was the insecure best friend – I had it going on, too. I worked hard, I was talented – just not at the things traditional high school boys valued.
But we’ll get to that.
“Hi,” Whiskey finally said, extending his hand to Jenna this time. His eyes were warm, smile inviting — if I had to pick the right word for him, just one, I’d say charming. He just oozed charm. “I’m Jamie.”
“Well, Jamie, maybe you should make an appointment with the eye doctor before you run over another innocent jogger. And you owe Brecks an apology.” She nodded to me then and I cringed at my name, wondering why she felt the need to spill it at all. She always called me B — everyone did — so why did she choose the moment I was face to face with the first boy to ever make my heart accelerate to use my full name?
Jamie was still grinning, eying Jenna, trying to figure her out, but he turned to me after a moment with that same crooked smile. “I’m sorry, I should have been watching where I was going.” He said the words with conviction, but lifted his brows on that last line because he and I both knew who wasn’t paying attention to the trail, and he wasn’t the guilty party.
“It’s fine,” I murmured, because for some reason I was still having a difficult time finding my voice. Jamie tilted his head just a fraction, his eyes hard on me this time, and I felt naked beneath his gaze. I’d never had anyone look at me that way — completely zeroed in. It was unnerving and exhilarating, too.
But before I could latch onto the feeling, he turned back to Jenna, their eyes meeting as slow smiles spread on both of their faces. I’d seen it a million times, but this was the first time I felt sick watching it happen.
I saw him first, but it didn’t matter.
Because he saw her.

Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.

Blog Tour: 5 Stars for Sugar Free (Sugar Bowl #3) by Sawyer Bennett

sugarfreetourbannerSugar Free (Sugar Bowl, Book #3) Sawyer Bennett Release Date: October 11, 2016

Synopsis: Sela and Beck’s deliciously sinful tale of sex, lies, and vengeance reaches its explosive conclusion in the final chapter of Sawyer Bennett’s Sugar Bowl trilogy, which began with the novels Sugar Daddy and Sugar Rush. For years Sela Halstead dreamed of revenge, but the quest for payback has been anything but sweet. Now, once again, she finds herself at the mercy of Jonathon Townsend, his hands crushing the very breath from her body. And even though she escapes with her life, Sela fears she may never recover. In desperate need of shelter and comfort, she runs to the one man she can trust. Beckett North has stood by Sela since the beginning. But can he handle the brutal truth? Beck will do anything to protect what is his—and make no mistake, Sela belongs to him, heart and soul. The passion between them runs hot, even as their world begins to unravel. With the legacy of his ruthless business partner hanging in the balance, Beck stands to lose everything: his fortune, his family, his freedom. But each touch of Sela’s mouth on his skin, her nails down his back, makes it harder to let her go—and it might not even be his choice to make.

My Review:

5/5 Stars!

Sugar Free is the perfect conclusion to the Sugar Bowl trilogy! It’s intense.. It’s hot. It will make you scream and cry!

Sugar Free is full of twists, turns and surprises that you’ll never see coming! Everything is at risk for Sela and Beck as Bennett races us to the conclusion. I warn you…once you pick this up, you WILL NOT be able to put it down. I thought I knew what was going on only to be completely wrong! Sela and Beck are perfection!

A phenomenal conclusion to a fantastic series!
