Excerpt

Watching Robert gallivant through the trees to pester the Sheriff of Nottingham, while humorous, now made perfect sense. After today, she knew he was right. There was no other recourse for the poor souls wronged by Nottingham. They needed someone who would defend them and provide for them when they had been wronged. Nottingham was an unfair man, exactly like her father. And with King Richard fighting in the Crusade, Nottingham had no one overseeing him. What were the people to do in the face of Nottingham’s unchecked injustice?
But she also thought of Robert’s kiss, of his inclusion of her with his men, of his compliment that, in spite of her being of the fairer sex, she had done well and deserved a place on his council. It warmed her heart to know he recognized her ability and wasn’t threatened by it. And though he teased mercilessly and she sometimes wished to slap the smile off his face, she felt affection for him soften her. He was confusing, but trustworthy. He hadn’t lied to her. He had protected her. He respected her. She felt herself capitulating. Mayhap, just mayhap, she really could trust him.

Review Blitz: 5 Stars for Trust by Kylie Scott

Being young is all about the experiences: the first time you skip school, the first time you fall in love…the first time someone holds a gun to your head.

After being held hostage during a robbery at the local convenience store, seventeen year old Edie finds her attitude about life shattered. Unwilling to put up with the snobbery and bullying at her private school, she enrolls at the local public high school, crossing paths with John. The boy who risked his life to save hers.

While Edie’s beginning to run wild, however, John’s just starting to settle down. After years of partying and dealing drugs with his older brother, he’s going straight—getting to class on time, and thinking about the future.

An unlikely bond grows between the two as John keeps Edie out of trouble and helps her broaden her horizons. But when he helps her out with another first—losing her virginity—their friendship gets complicated.

Meanwhile, Edie and John are pulled back into the dangerous world they narrowly escaped. They were lucky to survive the first time, but this time they have more to lose—each other.

My Review:

5 Stars!

Dive into this amazing YA read!

Edie and John survive a harrowing experience that changes their lives and then go their separate ways. When they are unexpectedly reunited, they start a tentative friendship that slowly grows into more as they lean on each other to survive, to cope and to heal.

Kylie Scott has written a complicated story of healing, recovery and learning to trust again. Edie and John are complicated characters with so much depth. The story never rushes, instead moving along at a steady pace in a way that gives the reader the opportunity to feel and absorb and really care about the characters. Edie is insecure and tentative at the beginning, but as time progresses she really comes into her own. As she gives into the fear and uses it constructively to improve her life, you find yourself rooting for her to be okay, to let go. John is complex and brooding. His life was already complicated before the robbery, but after, he makes a concerted effort to change only to be met with resistance from others. No one believes John can be more than he was except Edie. Eventually, they rely on each other to heal and cope, because no one else an fully understand what they went through. Their road to recovery is not an easy one and Scott took the time to write honestly and carefully, never rushing and yet pushing the characters just enough. She lets their relationship develop and grow naturally culminating in a lovely partnership between two people who need and love each other.

This highly anticipated YA book from the amazing Kylie Scott is a 5 star read and one of my top reads of 2017!

“You were going to give it up to Duncan Dickerson?” he sneered. “Are you serious?”

I halted, staring at him. This was not good. “How do you know about that?”

“Anders overheard you and Hang talking.”

“Bastard.”

“Well?” he demanded, acting all authoritarian. Idiot.

“To be fair, I didn’t know his last name was Dickerson,” I said. “That’s unfortunate. Though, I wasn’t actually planning on marrying him, so . . .”

“Not funny.”

I shrugged.

“You barely know the guy.”

“Um, yeah. None of your concern. We’re not talking about this.” How mortifying! My face burned bright. People should just gather around and cook s’mores. “I appreciate that we’re friends. You mean a lot to me. But this is going to have to fall under definitely none of your damn business, so go away please.”

“We’re talking about it.” He advanced a step.

“No we are not.” And I retreated.

“You were going to let a complete stranger touch you.” Advance.

Retreat. “People do it all the time. You do it all the time.”

“But you don’t,” he said, taking the final step, backing me up against the side of his car and getting all in my face. “Edie, this is your first time we’re talking about. Isn’t it?”

“Yes, and it’s going to be messy and painful and probably horribly embarrassing and I just want it over and done with.” I tried to meet his eyes but failed, settling for a spot on his right shoulder. “You’re not a girl; you wouldn’t understand. Also, last time I checked, you’re not the gatekeeper of my hymen, John Cole. So back the fuck off.”

He said nothing.

Deep, calming breaths. “Look, someday I’ll meet someone I really like and we’ll have a deep and meaningful relationship and go at it like bunnies. But I don’t want to be the dumb virgin in that scenario.”

He slowly shook his head.

“Also, I do not want to die a virgin.”

“What? What the hell are you talking about?”

“Hey, you and I both know death can occur at any time.”

“This is crazy.”

“I’m seeing a therapist!” I told his shoulder. “I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m a little bit messed up these days. It’s hard for me to trust people. That’s not going to change anytime soon.”

He screwed up his face at me. “Wha—”

“I’m just trying to be practical.”

“Well, you’re being ridiculous. None of this makes sense.”

“It does to me.”

Again, he said nothing.

In fact, he said nothing for so long that I finally looked him in the eye. The anger had left him, replaced by an emotion I didn’t recognize. Worst of all, he still smelled like summer. A little sweat and the open night air, everything I loved. Liked. I meant liked.

“What?” I said, finally.

He let loose a breath. “I’ll do it.”

Book Blurb:

His brother’s untimely death leaves him with an Earldom and a fiancée. Too bad he wants neither of them…

Theodora Lawton has no need of a husband. As an independent woman, she wants to own property, make investments and be the master of her destiny. Unfortunately, her father signed her life away in a marriage contract to the future Earl of Stonemere. But then the cad upped and died, leaving her fate in the hands of his brother, one of the renowned Lustful Lords.

Achilles Denton, the Earl of Stonemere, is far more prepared to be a soldier than a peer. Deeply scarred by his last tour of duty, he knows he will never be a proper, upstanding pillar of the empire. Balanced on the edge of madness, he finds respite by keeping a tight rein on his life, both in and out of the bedroom. His brother’s death has left him with responsibilities he never wanted and isn’t prepared to handle in the respectable manner expected of a peer.

Further complicating his new life is an unwanted fiancée who comes with his equally unwanted title. Saddled with a hand-me-down countess, he soon discovers the woman is a force unto herself. As he grapples with the burden of his new responsibilities, he discovers someone wants him dead. The question is, can he stay alive long enough to figure out who’s trying to kill him while he tries to tame his headstrong wife?

WOLF

by A.E. Fisher
Black Angels #2
Publication Date: July 7, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance, MC Romance, Biker Romance, Standalone

BUY:

SYNOPSIS:

ANNA

Three years, we’d been playing our little game. Pretending I was too quick to be caught and he was too slow to catch me. Pretending the tension between us wasn’t there. Pretending I wasn’t interested. He was a stubborn, misogynistic bastard.

And he fit me perfectly.

The only problem was that a man like Wolf wanted everything. Everything I didn’t want to give. We both had our past—pasts we weren’t ready to face, commitments we weren’t ready to make.

But we didn’t get to make that decision, because our pasts were alive, and when they came for us, I found that there was only one thing left for me to do.

It was time for me to face the wolf.

WOLF

From the second she strutted into my club, put a knife to my balls, and demanded I make her my lawyer, she got more than just a job. She got my balls handed to her on a silver platter. Because I knew I had to have her.

But shadows hung between us, and whenever I took one step closer, she took one step back. She was my prey, but every time I had her in my claws, she slipped out just in time, and I pretended it wasn’t my mistake.

But I was done letting her escape. My past taught me to protect what’s mine, and when shadows surfaced, threatening to destroy not just my club and principles but everything between us, I knew the game was over.
She was mine.

And it was about time I showed her.

My Review:

4 Stars!

I was kind of over the whole MC romance genre before I read Wolf. I hadn’t picked one out of that genre for nearly a year. Then, a last minute need for a review and I am hooked! I must go back and read the first book and I am looking forward to more in this series.

Wolf and Anna have been dancing around each other for three years. He chases. She runs away. Theirs is a bit of a love/hate relationship but man the sexual tension is THICK! These two share a complicated and dangerous past. When that dangerous past resurfaces, Wolf and Anna must rely on each other.

You won’t be able to help rooting for Wolf and Anna. Their chemistry is scorching hot and when Wolf pursues Anna, things crank up even more in intensity. The Black Angels MC is quite endearing making this story even better.

Jump on this amazing, sexy, emotional ride!

ABOUT A.E. FISHER

Writing books had been a big part of my life for many years; whether it was writing in secret notebooks during class, writing amateur novels or posting stories online, I surrounded myself with it.

Of course, it has its up and downs, but I’ve never once thought that writing wasn’t for me.

Because of that, I can share the worlds I discover in my head with the outside world, and although that might sound crazy to some, it’s fine by me. So long as I can do what I love, I’m happy.

And every person who’s happy as a result of my writing is a bonus for which, I’m forever grateful for.

A tear
escaped down her cheek. She dashed it away, and the anger replaced her sorrow.
“I don’t want your money, Michael.”
Hands
fisted at his side, he finally met her stare. “What is it then?” She approached
him and touched his arm.
He
flinched, but she refused to back away.
“I want to
know why? I need to know if you ever loved me. I demand to know if everything
you told me was a lie.” There, she’d said it. She dropped her hand away.
He was pale
and thin. Little of his robust figure shone through the robe. “I never lied to
you.”
“Then why?”
He turned
away again. “I would have thought your parents explained that to you already.”
She kicked at the rug, unsure of how to continue.
“Didn’t
your mother explain?” Anger rolled through his words like an army.
In all the
time they’d courted, she had never seen any signs of temper from Michael. He’d
always been kind and loving. Through her fear, her own anger pushed her on. She
stood toe-to- toe with a clearly dangerous man. “I was told that our engagement
was dissolved because you cannot father a child. I will admit it took my mother
quite a long time to get around to explaining that much, and I do not actually
think she knew any more. What I want to know is what that has to do with you
crying off?”
Then he
turned. “I did not cry off. You did.”  “I
did no such thing.” She stomped her foot. “Then your father did.” His tone had
gone flat.
“He had no
right. If you did not end our engagement, then why were we not married today?”
She tried to sound sophisticated, but tears pushed to the surface. His attitude
was so changed. She didn’t know him. Maybe she never had.
“Your
mother explained that.” He lumbered across the room and poured himself a rather
large brandy. The smooth glide that she always admired was gone from his step.
“So if we
had married, then we found that I was barren, you would have tossed me over?”
She was rather proud of how rational she sounded in spite of her sorrow and
raging temper.
“Don’t be
ridiculous.” He swallowed half the glass brandy. His shoulders slumped. “Then
why would you think that I would care?”
“You don’t
understand.” The second half went down in one swallow.
“Clearly.
Perhaps you can explain it to me.”
