New Release: 4 Stars for Lost Love by Kelly Elliott!

love amazon

Moving back home to my parents’ cattle ranch in Texas was the last thing I thought I’d be doing.

But, here I stand … in front of my high school girlfriend. A beautiful, confident woman has replaced the young girl I once knew and loved. Hell. I’m still in love with her.

Yep. Paxton Monroe was my first love and the one girl in town who now hated my guts. So much so, Paxton swore her revenge on me if it took her until the day she died. The last words she spoke to me were a vow to cut my dick off and shove it down my throat.

The fight between my heart, my head, and last, but certainly not least, my dick starts tonight. Because all I can think about is how I want to be buried so deep inside Paxton she won’t remember how I broke her heart, or how I left her when she needed me the most.

But who will win? My heart is too broken to listen to my head. And my dick, yeah it’s not listening to anything or anyone. Not until it gets what it wants and what it wants is Paxton Monroe.

Lost Love is book one in the Cowboys and Angels Series

My Review:

4 Stars!

Get your tissues ready, ladies and gentlemen. This book has all the feels!

This is a tale of second chance love. Steed and Pax were once so in love, but a tragedy torn them apart. Ten years later, they get a second chance, but the road to reunited love is not a smooth one.

This is the type of book you savor slowly. Amazing characters and a captivating story pull you in right away. There is joy and heartache and an amazing little girl you can’t help but love.

Kelly Elliott has written the perfect start to another series. I can’t wait for more of the Parker family!

Excerpt:

Slipping into the truck, she didn’t say a word.
The drive back to her house was silent. It took less than ten minutes, but it felt like a fucking eternity.
My heart was pounding as I pulled up and put the truck in park. Paxton sat with her hands folded in her lap. The weight of whatever she wanted to say was heavy in the truck. The only thing I knew to do was be patient. When it was clear she wasn’t about to, I opened my mouth to speak, but she beat me to it.
“Will you come in?”
Okay. That wasn’t what I thought she was going to say.
“Um.”
She closed her eyes and shook her head. “No. What I mean is, will you let me show you something.”
I wiggled my brows. Paxton let out a soft chuckle before reaching over and hitting me on the leg.
“That’s not what I meant.”
“Sure, I’d love to come in.”
I jumped out of the truck and jogged around to the passenger side where I reached my hand out and helped Paxton down. She smiled, and I led the way to her front door.
When we walked in, she tossed her keys into a small square bowl. My eyes about popped out of my head; it was the bowl I’d made her in eighth grade pottery class. I didn’t say anything as I continued to follow her. When she made her way over to the steps, I paused.
Paxton glared. “I don’t want to sleep with you, Steed. I only want to show you something.”
My ego took a serious hit, and I couldn’t help the look of disappointment on my face. Not because I realized I wasn’t going to have sex with Paxton, because trust me, I was fucking disappointed in that. But because she didn’t seem to want me. At all.
“Is it something naughty?” I teased while following her up the stairs.
“No,” she replied with a lighthearted laugh. I could tell she was a little tipsy with the way she was walking. I had to admit it was nice to have a bit of lighter banter between us.
“You feel okay, pumpkin?” I asked, watching her ass as she climbed the stairs.
“Yeah. I think I drank more than I thought I did. I feel a bit lightheaded.”
My breathing increased with the idea of being in Paxton’s bedroom. My dick was already thinking of what it wanted to do, and I adjusted myself. But the moment we walked into her room and she turned on the lights, I knew it was going to be a battle keeping my hard on at bay.
I scanned the master bedroom. It was done in different shades of gray. The touches of blue in the room made me smile. It was almost exactly how we’d talked about all those years ago.
Paxton sat down on the bench at the end of her bed and pulled her boots off. I stood there with my hands in my pocket still looking around the room.
“Um, Pax, is there a reason you brought me up to your bedroom or are you trying to make me fucking crazy?”
Her brows lifted and a small grin tugged at the corner of her mouth. “You’re going crazy being in here? Why?”
I stared at her like she was insane. “Do you want me to answer that honestly?”
She slowly nodded. “Always.”
My tongue ran over my lips, and I was suddenly parched. I needed water. My head was spinning.
Did I tell her the truth? What I was really thinking? Hoping?
Fuck it. What could it hurt?
“I’m going crazy because all I want to do is bury my cock inside you and stay there all night.”

Blog Tour: 4 Star review of Being Brooke by Emma Hart

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000035_00027]

My name is Brooke Barker…

And I’m a freaking disaster.

No, seriously. I’m a college drop-out working a dead-end job, my best friend Carly’s dog gets more action than I do, and I have more bad dates in my diary than there are movie remakes.

Not to mention I’m completely and utterly in love with Cain Elliott.

The problem? He’s in a relationship. With a girl who’s so plastic she makes Barbie cry herself to sleep with jealousy.

The second problem? He’s my best friend.

My shut-up-and-put-harry-potter, yes-this-is-your-shirt, help-I-have-no-power, crap-I’m-out-of-tampon, kinda best friend.

And that’s all he can be, right?

Right.

Being Brooke is a standalone romantic comedy. Hilarious, super-sexy, and possibly highly inappropriate at times, this is the perfect feel-good read!

Sara’s Review

4/5 Stars!!

Being Brooke is a hysterically funny, steamy romance with a heroine who is the definition of hot mess and a hero who loves her anyway.

Emma Hart is brilliant.  There is just no other way to put it.  She creates characters who are engaging, lovable and fun.  Then, she spins an entertaining yarn, taking familiar tropes and making them into something so much more.  Being Brooke is no exception and quite possibly my favorite of Hart’s books.

In the blurb, Brooke admits to being a hot mess and let me tell you, she is.  She has no college degree, a job she hates, a mother who rivals Kris Jenner, a female best friend who is constantly setting her up and whose dog hates her, and a male best friend who she has been in love with for nearly ten years.

Brooke’s male bestie, Cain, is sexy, sweet and oh so hot.  He will drop anything to help Brooke when she needs him, even if it is a silly, little thing. He also has a perfectly, plastic Barbie doll of a girlfriend, who Brooke happens to hate.

Here’s the thing.  These two are both in love with the other, but neither of them will admit it.  But, Cain is throwing out hints left and right and Brooke is her own worst enemy because she is all up inside her own head. Everyone can shed how they feel about each other, they just can’t or won’t see it themselves.

There is so much sexual tension, but it isn’t the angsty, tension—filled kind.  It is more about Brooke and her tendency to self-sabotage.  It was infuriating and awesome!

Hart writes another snark-filled, romantic funfest that will have you laughing out loud, swooning and cheering for even the tiniest baby steps Brooke and Cain take in the right direction!

This book will appeal to any romance reader.

Excerpt:

Cain’s phone begins to buzz on the table. The screen lights up, and the short name on the screen makes me have to fight a frown.
I know it’s Nina. It always is. It’s like she has a Brooke-dar. She can sense whenever Cain and I are alone and hanging out.
My heart sinks, slowly but heavily, and I school my expression into one of not caring. I refuse to look away from the TV now.
Cain hands me his pizza box, which I take, begrudgingly, then he leans forward and grabs his phone. He waits for the buzzing to stop, then unlocks it and turns it off vibrate.
Then? Then he shoves it under the table, screen down.
Ho. Lee. Shit.
I gape at him. I can’t help it.
A piece of pepperoni drops off the slice of pizza in my hand—the same one that’s frozen halfway to my mouth as I stare at him in total disbelief. Did he really just do it?
“What?” Cain shrugs and takes his box back, grabbing a piece of half-eaten, meaty pizza and shoving the end in his mouth. The crust crunches as he bites down.
I swallow and glance at the coffee table. “I don’t think you’ve ever not taken a call from her.” I can’t help the derogatory way I say ’her’. It’s not intentional—honest. It’s ingrained in me to be vicious to other women. I think it’s a female thing. Self-preservation and all that.
“I don’t think I ever haven’t either.” Cain tilts his head to the side and meets my gaze, a suspicious glint in his green eyes. “But the point is, we haven’t done this in weeks, and I’m having too much fun to leave. Besides, we have all this junk food. If I don’t help you eat it, you’ll eat it all, then it’ll be my fault when your pants don’t fit.”
Oh my god.
“Does she know you’re here?” I smirk slyly and raise my eyebrows.
He shifts uncomfortably. With a cough, he puts his pizza down and grabs his beer bottle to swig from it.
Oh. My. Shitty. Life.
“She doesn’t, does she?” I sit up straight, throwing my half-slice back into my box and shoving his shoulder. “Cain!”
“No,” he mumbles, scratching the back of his ear. “She doesn’t know.”
I laugh. I can’t help it. It’s totally immature of me to delight in the fact he hasn’t told the Prissy Princess where is he and he’s ignoring her calls, but I do. It’s hilarious.
And, okay. I’m smug. Totally smug. There’s only one reason he hasn’t told her, and that’s because she hates me too.
Bitchy Best Friend Mission: Level Up!
“And tell me.” I snicker, just about holding back the volcano of laughter threatening to erupt. “Where does Nina think you are?”
“She thinks I’m at Mom’s.” He looks at me, his lips flattening into a thin line. “Stop laughing, B. No, don’t shake your damn head. I fucking mean it. She’s a little insecure over my friendship with you and Carly, that’s all. Sometimes it’s easier to just tell a… little white lie.”
“A little white lie? She thinks you’re at your mom’s!” I laugh harder and wipe at my eyes because they feel a little too wet.
“I just want the best of both worlds right now, all right?”
“What is the best of both worlds? Pizza with me and blow jobs from her?”
“She chooses not to eat gluten. Until she finds a gluten-free recipe she likes, I can’t eat pizza when she’s around.”
Which is a lot.
I raise my eyebrows again. “Your girlfriend won’t eat gluten but she’ll happily put your dick in her mouth?”
“Brooke. Don’t be a bitch.” He chucks a piece of chicken from his pizza at me, his eyes narrowing.
I’m dying. I think this is it—this is how I die, laughing at Cain’s lame excuses for lying to his girlfriend about spending time with me.
“Oh my fuck. This is hilarious. Seriously. Someone call Comedy Central.”
“Brooke.” He says my name again, this time quieter.
I stop laughing. Just about.
“I’m sorry. I just think it’s funny. You want me to be nice to her but you lie to her about spending time with me.” I shrug a shoulder and peel a piece of pepperoni off my pizza. I’m not even that hungry anymore.
He sighs, putting the top down on his box, and sits back. “She thinks there’s something going on between us.”
I laugh even harder because I might cry if I don’t.
Hi, breaking heart. Grab the tissues, yo.
There’s an awkward silence hanging between us now. It’s not the first time someone has thought that, but given that the more time I spend with Cain, the more I seem to fall for him, it’s awkward. Especially since he’s lying to her just to hang out with me.
I clear my throat and look up at him. “That’s ridiculous. You’re my best friend. Like anything would ever happen between us. I can’t put up with your shit taste in music, for a start.”
“Exactly,” he replies in a quieter voice, scratching behind his ear again. “It’s fucking stupid. I can’t stand your taste in music either. Who the fuck likes Justin Bieber?”
“People who think Kanye West should retire.”

Blog Tour: 5 Stars for Managed by Kristen Callihan

managed-banner

managed-amazonIt started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big…ego.

I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.

That is until HE sat down next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He’s a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.

I thought I’d give him hell for one, long flight. I didn’t expect to like him. I didn’t expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn’t see coming.

If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can’t manage. But I’m tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.

Let the battle begin…

My Review:

5/5 Stars!!!

Spoiler Free Review

If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would!

I read book one in the VIP series, Idol, and gave it 5 stars. It was one of my 2016 top reads and one of my favorite books by Kristen Callihan. Well, Managed just blew that out of the water. This IS my top read of 2016 and sits atop my favorite Kristen Callihan books as a shining example of what all books should look like.

No joke.

Scottie’s gotta book!!!

We were introduced to Scottie, Kill John’s no nonsense, growly manager with the permascowl in Idol. Now, we finally get a look inside the man and it is a fabulous view! I love opposites attract concept here. Scottie is all business and Sophie is all about fun. They might be opposites but they are perfect for each other. Sophie counterbalances Scottie. He only opens up with her. She manages him with finesse, like she was put on Earth just for him. It takes a while for him to let himself enjoy her. Callihan uses a unique approach to getting them together and I loved it.

I loved getting the inside story on Scottie and why he is who and how he is. He is a complicated man with a complicated past and his buttoned up persona is calculated and well-earned. But, when the man finally falters, oh is it a glorious fall.

Sophie is an entity all her own. She is fun and perky and takes no crap from Scottie. She really does manage him. But, she has a troubled past as well and that past is lurking in the shadows of the book. You know that moment is coming, the one that will ruin everything. I read much of the back half of the book with an edge-of-my-seat mentality thanks to little clues inserted here and there. I loved Sophie’s character, her inner workings so pure and full of love for the guys, for Libby and Julia and Brenna. I hurt for her when she hurt. I was happy for her when she was happy.

When you crack the spine or tap the edge of your read to start that first page, Managed will suck you in, take you on a great journey of love and trust, and send you sailing off into the sunset of happiness with the ending.

Another great Kristen Callihan read and a Quesarasera Book Blog Top Read of 2016!

managed-teaser-5

In all this time, I had yet to see Gabriel without a shirt. He hides his body like a pious Victorian, never letting me see anything other than him fully dressed and polished. Now I know why. Had he let me get a glimpse, I might never have been able to form a coherent thought around him.

This man’s chest is a work of art. It’s every fantasy I’ve had about a man’s body made real. I don’t even know how that’s possible, but I’m not about to complain. God, he looks touchable. Olive skin, tight little brownish nipples, a smattering of dark chest hair over the most incredibly honed—

“You’re staring.” His tone is dry.

“Yes, I am.” I drag my eyes up and find his expression bemused.

A thick brow lifts. I try to mimic the look and fail when both of my brows lift as one. His lips twitch in amusement.

He shifts his weight, causing his abs to clench. Good Lord. He’s not some overdeveloped gym worshiper, just solid and strong, that perfect balance between defined musculature and healthy male—

“You’re still staring, Sophie.”

“You think it’s easy looking away from all this splendor?” I ask his belly button, licking my lips when he huffs out a laugh and just a little bit more of his lower abs are revealed, slanting toward the thick bulge of his cock, which is lamentably hidden behind his slacks.

“You’re impossible,” he mutters, though there is humor in his voice. He strolls farther into the room and then practically kills me when he sits in one of the low-slung armchairs. That body, sprawled out on display, those thick, long thighs braced as if to take me in his lap—it’s too much.

I want to straddle him and lick my way from the hollow of his throat to the tip of his cock.

He eyes me as if he knows what I’m thinking, and the air thickens. So many things we left unsaid. I’m remembering his lips now, surprisingly soft, but strong with purpose.

From the way his lids lower, I wonder if he’s remembering things as well. But he doesn’t move. Tension glides over his body and snakes around the room. I feel it in my throat and down my spine. We’re closing up again, retreating.

Slowly, I toe off my shoes and set my gear down, never breaking eye contact. “I was being completely honest,” I tell him. “I see you like this and I want to stare forever.”

He snorts, shaking his head even as he rests his temple on his knuckles. “What do you mean ‘like this’?”

“Undone.”

He tenses. It does lovely things to that chest. I focus on his face, mainly to maintain some semblance of decorum.

“You think this is me undone?” he asks quietly.

“It’s a start.” I reach for my camera bag. “Will you let me photograph you?”

There is safety to be found with the camera between us. A way for both of us to hide until we’re comfortable around each other again.

“You’re serious?”

“You sound surprised.” Holding my camera, I sit in the sofa opposite him. “Don’t tell me no one has asked to take your picture before.”

“They’ve asked. I never saw the point.” He shrugs. “I’m not the story.”

You’re my story. You always were.

“This is just for me,” I say instead. “No one else.”

His shrewd gaze pins me. “Why do you want this?”

So I can have a bit of you forever. “Pictures capture moments in time. I want this one—when you finally let me see a sliver of the man behind the clothes.”

His nostrils flare on an indrawn breath, and he slowly lets it out. When he speaks, his voice is a rasp. “Take the pictures.”

Slow Grind

by Missy Johnson & Ashley Suzanne
Publication Date: October 24, 2016
Genres: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance

I’m the kind of guy who will do anything for a friend, so when my best mate, Max, gets sick I naturally want to help. He needs money for experimental treatment overseas and he needs it fast. So I round up the guys with an idea to raise the cash for him.

Stripping. Chicks love that shit, right?

At first the guys are skeptical, but we’re a good looking group of men who who’ve been known to bust out a dance move or two, so we decide to go for it.

When Max offers his kid sister up for chorography, I think, great. We can use all the help we can get. The last time I saw Aubrey she was a loudmouthed twelve year old who wouldn’t leave me alone. Now, she’s twenty and possibly the sexiest woman I’ve ever laid eyes on.

Max has made it clear that his sister is off limits to me, because apparently, I have a reputation. He says he has enough to worry about without me chasing his sister.

Fine, I can respect that.

But I’m not sure she can.

My Review:
4/5 Stars!!!!
Oh my!  This book has so many good things going on!  There is Aubrey who has had a long simmering unrequited thing for her older brother’s best friend, Drew.  Drew is one sexy beast, loyal to Max and his friends and really a good guy.  They don’t see each other for nearly ten years, but when Aubrey returns to Australia to support her brother, they are reunited and those feelings return.  The romance between Aubrey and Drew is almost secondary.  It is slow building and simmering before they finally give into their feelings.  This book is really more about loyalty and love to family and friends.

About Missy Johnson

Today we have Unthinkable by Nina Croft! Grab your copy of this fantastic scifi romance today, and check out Nina’s blog tour!

Unthinkable BT Ban

About Unthinkable:

Unthinkable-500

Jake Callahan, leader of the Tribe, has always believed he’s one of the good guys. Now, hunted by the government he used to work for, he’s taking a crash course in being bad. What he desperately needs is a bargaining tool, and that’s unfortunate for Christa Winters, daughter of Jake’s former boss.

Christa is a scientist, a total geek, and a good girl with a secret hankering for bad boys. Which turns out to be embarrassingly inconvenient when she’s kidnapped by a stunningly gorgeous—but obviously bad-to-the-bone—man intent on using her against the father she loves. A man with a seemingly uncanny ability to know exactly when she’s thinking about kissing him—which is most of the time.

But people are dying, and it becomes clear that the stakes are much higher than Jake ever imagined. Someone is out to obliterate the Tribe and everyone associated with it, including Christa. Only by working together to uncover the secrets behind the past, can they ever hope to have a future.

My Review:

4/5 Stars!

Action, paranormal, romance…what more could you ask for!

Unthinkable was great read!  Jake will do anything to protect his friends including kidnapping the Christa, the daughter of the baddie.  The chemistry between them is palpable, but they fight it.  I mean, the situation is a bit awkward, what with her being his captive and all.  Jake’s framily is loyal and I liked how he felt responsible for them.  Croft did a fantastic job of weaving the lore and background of the group into the story and not overwhelming the reader with one long explanation chapter.  It was also a clever move to develop the characters’ powers throughout the book.

A great science fiction read!

About Nina Croft:

Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.

Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home.

Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.

Title: Songbird
Author: Sydney Logan
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: October 2015

Blurb
Callie Franklin doesn’t do one night stands.Ever.

She’s far too responsible and focused on her career to ever let herself give in to temptation. But, on the eve of her best friend’s wedding, she meets that temptation . . .

And his name is Devin McAllister.

Devin, on the other hand, has no problem with meaningless hookups. The very last thing he needs—or wants—is a relationship.

Relationships come with strings.

Relationships come with heartbreak.

A late-night encounter in the hotel’s piano bar finds the two unable to resist each other. With her angelic voice and bright blue eyes, Devin’s sure he’s never met anyone as beautiful as his Songbird.

Six weeks later, when two pink lines confirm Callie’s worst fears, she and Devin have to face the consequences of their wild weekend.

And they have to deal with each other—whether they like it or not.

With a love story that’s far from traditional, Callie and Devin begin to wonder if their one-night stand could turn into something neither of them anticipated.

A happily ever after.

My Review:

5/5 Stars!

I am in love with this book! Seriously in love.

Callie has a one night stand the night before her best friend’s wedding. The guy leaves in the middle of the night without a goodbye, but he did leave her a pretty impressive hickey. The next morning, said one night stand walks into the bridal sweet. Oops! Turns out the one night stand is Devin, Nashville’s playboy manslut and one of the groomsman. Except, there is an undeniable attraction between them. She fights it, but gives in the night of the wedding. One night turns into two. This time he leaves a goodbye. Flash forward six weeks…yep, you guessed it, Callie is pregnant.

I love a good unplanned pregnancy story. I read them all the time. This one is just so good and sweet and Devin is super sexy and swoonworthy! He’s real and I think that makes him more lovable. There are secrets and forces at work, all of which is expected in a romance. Nothing Earth-shatteringly different. What made this one so great is Callie and Devin and their relationship.

Trust me. You are going to want to read this one! Sydney Logan has a new fan for life!

Excerpt
Traffic’s insane, but I finally make it to Callie’s apartment just after two. I anxiously knock on the door, ridiculously eager to get my hands on her. Maybe she’ll be wearing some flimsy lingerie. Maybe she’ll be naked. My mind’s busy conjuring all the possibilities when she opens the door . . . wearing a sweatshirt and jeans.“Hey,” she says softly, stepping aside to let me in.

“Hey. You okay?”

She looks pale as a ghost. Is she sick? She looks sick. Maybe I should call an ambulance. Or my dad.

“I’m okay.” Callie leads me over to the sofa. “Look, Devin, I know you probably have some plans for us for tonight, but that won’t be happening.”

“Oh.” Disappointment floods me, but if the nauseated look on her face is any indication, it’s probably best. Besides, there’s the next night. And the next.

“But we need to talk, so I’m glad you’re here. I have something I need to tell you.” She abruptly jumps to her feet and walks toward her kitchen. “Would you like something to drink?”

I can’t tell if she’s being a good hostess or simply stalling, but I ask for a beer. It looks like I’m gonna need it. I hadn’t pegged her for the kind of woman who needs to talk about her feelings.

When she returns to the living room, Callie hands me a bottle and sits down next to me. I notice she only brought one.

“You’re not drinking?”

She curls her feet beneath her. “Unfortunately, no. I won’t be drinking for a long time.”

I’ve had it with the riddles.

“All right, what’s going on? My brother and his girlfriend threatened to murder me if I make you cry. Something’s obviously up with you because you just want to talk.”

Her forehead creases. “Don’t you ever just talk to a woman?”

“Not if I can help it.”

“Why not? The girls you usually date don’t have enough sense to carry on an intelligent conversation?”

“I don’t date, Callie.”

“I see. You just sleep with them.”

“Sometimes. Is there something wrong with that?”

“And are you careful?”

“Careful?”

“Safe,” she says softly. “We didn’t use protection. I just wondered if that’s typical for you.”

Oh. It’d be easy to blame the alcohol, but honestly, using protection was the very last thing on my mind that night.

“No, that’s not typical. I’m sorry about that.”

“So am I.”

Callie seems far more relaxed after my apology. Maybe this night won’t be an epic failure after all. I slide closer to her, but she raises her hand in warning.

“We’re not finished.”

I groan and lean back against the couch.

“Devin, I need you to listen. Something happened that weekend. I’m almost positive you won’t want to sleep with me after you hear what I’m about to say.”

“I seriously doubt that.”

“I don’t.” Callie sits up a little straighter and squares her shoulders. “I want you to know I expect nothing from you. Our weekend together was a mistake, and I’ll deal with the consequences of it. I don’t know exactly what I’m going to do at this point, but I thought you should at least know what’s going on.”

“What’s going on?”

Her eyes flood with tears.

“Devin, I’m pregnant.”

Pregnant.

Pregnant?

I stare at her. She stares at me. I watch her closely, hoping that at any moment she’s going to burst out laughing.

But she’s not laughing. She’s crying.

I hear Lorie’s voice in my suddenly throbbing head.

Don’t make her cry.

“Why . . . why are you telling me?”

She wipes her eyes. “What do you mean?”

“You’re assuming it’s mine?”

“Of course it’s yours!”

I snort. “Really? How can you be so sure? Maybe it was that bartender in the hotel’s piano bar. Or maybe it was the guy who sat with you at the reception. Or maybe—just maybe—it was the photographer you were with tonight. You two seem pretty close.”

Even as the bitter words drip off my tongue, I know better. Her face is just too furious . . . her eyes too heartbroken.

Suddenly, Callie stops crying. Her eyes flash with fury just seconds before she slaps me across the face.

Despite the ringing in my ears, I can hear my brother’s warning.

Don’t be an asshole tonight.

Too late.

Synopsis:       A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint…

Playing dirty can be the best kind of fun…

Chloe Franklin wouldn’t call herself a commitment-phobe, so much as she’s allergic to anything long term. She loves the sexy, sweaty, and intensely hot hours of the night that come before the sun rises, though. Especially when those nights are spent with Search-and-Rescuer Gage McGraw…

Gage loves his job, but there is one thing he’s starting to like more than the rush of a mission—a stacked blonde with a mouth that haunts his dreams. Every time he steps foot in the sleepy town of Beaufort, he hooks up with Chloe. But he’s tired of hooks-ups. He wants more.

Just the sight of Gage gets Chloe’s blood going. Hot, bothered, and finally naked, she’s ready for their night to start. But before he takes her, he whispers what his intentions really are…and then the games really begin.

Review:   Tell Me You Need Me is a steamy hot read from Joya Ryan.  Chloe and Gage hook up whenever he is in town, but he wants more.  Her…not so much.  The back and forth between the two characters was laugh out loud funny.  This is a short read at just 132 pages, but those pages are filled with fun, romance, and some serious hotness.

New Release review: A Friendly Arrangement by Christine Warner

Title: A Friendly Arrangement

Series: Friends First book 2

Author: Christine Warner
Publication Date: October 27, 2015

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Rating:3/5 stars
Synopsis: when your plus one becomes “the one”?

Holly Haggerty and Roth Esterly are two besties with everything in common–they’re neighbors, career-driven, and commitment-phobes. Tired of always being set up on dates by well-meaning friends and family, they take matters into their own hands: they will be the other’s plus one–a little friendly arrangement between friends.
Easy…until a steamy night where they cross the line. But that’s okay, they’ll add an addendum–one that includes a little action between the sheets…on top of the sheets…and without the sheets. But there are rules. Dating and sex are exclusive until one of them decides to terminate the agreement. No slumber parties. And if either party becomes emotionally involved they will break things off with no hard feelings.
When unexpected news changes their plans and turns their fun arrangement into something more serious, Holly and Roth must come to terms with what’s more important–what they thought they wanted, or what they really need.

Review: Well, this book was just okay for me. I enjoy friends-to-lovers romances, but this one wasn’t my favorite. The feels were there some of the time, but I just didn’t feel it when reading the most important parts of the story. The characters are likable, but at times I found myself irritated with Roth’s immaturity. I also found I had to stretch my imagination to make their long time friendship believable. There was just something missing here. The steamy scenes were pretty great and it had a satisfying HEA.

New release book review: Dirty English by Ilsa Madden-Mills

Title: Dirty English

Series: Standalone

Author: Ilsa Madden-Mills
Publication Date: October 10, 2015

Genre: New Adult Romance
Rating: 4/5 stars!
Synopsis: THE BRITISH ARE COMING! THE BRITISH ARE COMING! ARE YOU READY?
From New York Times best-selling author Ilsa Madden-Mills comes a new stand alone romance…
A scarred fighter.

A girl with rules.

One night of unbridled passion.
There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Bennett: she’s smart as a whip, always in control, and lives by a set of carefully crafted rules. She’s learned the hard way that people you love the most always hurt you in the end.

But then she meets Declan Blay, the new neighbor at her apartment complex.

A tattooed British street fighter, he’s the campus bad boy she’s supposed to avoid, but when he saves her from a frat party gone bad, all her rules about sex and love fly out the window.

She gives him one night of unbridled passion, but he longs for more.

With only a cardboard-thin wall separating their bedrooms, he dreams of possessing the vulnerable girl next door forever.
One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.

Review: There is a lot going on in this book. As I read, I almost thought it was too much and I worried Madden-Mills wouldn’t be able to tie up loose ends, but she did and it was all worth it.

So what do you get? You get a broken heroine who doesn’t trust and uses sex to remain in control. You get a hot, sexy, British street fighter who loves like he fights. Their attraction is undeniable, but they fight their attraction until they can’t fight anymore. You also get danger, conniving exes and a hysterical twin (who desperately deserves his own book). You won’t regret this British Invasion.

Book review: Dirty Lies (The Burke Brothers #3) by Emma Hart

Title: Dirty Lies

Series: The Burke Brothers #3

Author: Emma Hart

Publication Date: October 12, 2015

Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Rating: 5/5 rockin’ stars!!!!
Synopsis: Bad boy drummer Aidan Burke of Dirty B takes center stage in New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart’s hotly anticipated follow-up to Dirty Past and Dirty Secret!
Aidan Burke is the perfect rebound guy for Jessie Law after she catches her asshole ex-boyfriend with his hands down some other girl’s pants. The world-famous drummer of Dirty B isn’t shy about his preference for no-strings-attached relationships, so when she meets him on a night out, she takes him up on his simple proposal: One night of fun. Hot sex. Zero expectations.
But Dirty B’s tour is over, and they’re back in South Carolina—which means running into Aidan more often than Jessie would like.
When Aidan saves Jessie from her ex-boyfriend by insisting the two are dating, the band’s manager convinces them to keep up the charade in the hopes of re-inventing Dirty B’s image as lovable bad boys, as opposed to d-bags. Now all Aidan and Jessie have to do is put on a very obvious, very public show to convince everyone their affection is real.
But pretending to be in a relationship is harder than it seems. Aidan’s hordes of jealous fans have no problem bombarding Jessie with threatening messages online—and worse. And things only get more complicated when Jessie realizes her feelings for Aidan may not be so fake after all. Can Jessie live with the risks? And is Aidan willing to let her?
Review: So every time I read a Burke Brothers book, I say it’s my favorite. I loved Connor. I loved Tate. I LOVE Aidan. Oh how I love him and his manwhore self. So cocky and self-assured, but when the boy finally loves, he loves hard…it just takes loads of denial and some serious jealousy to finally get there. Oh, and he has to convince Jessie to get on board, because the boy messed up in a big way.

So, what do you get with this gem of a book? Denial, attraction, hot rocker boys, meddling family, a sassy girl who needs convincing, a hot boy in some serious denial and a sweet little girl who is going to be richer than all of them. Mix it all together and you get one fantastic read.
