Hot New Release ~ 4 Stars for Reed by Sawyer Bennett!

Reed (Cold Fury, Book #10)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: February 6, 2018

Synopsis:
Hockey season may be over, but in New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett’s new novel, a Carolina Cold Fury heartbreaker is heating things up off the ice and eager to score with the girl next door.

No one skates like Reed Olson. In the off-season, no one plays like him either. After back-to-back championships, Reed craves a different kind of action. Good thing there’s no shortage of women ready for a summer fling with a sports star. Reed has a specific type—blond, busty, not too bright—and a little black book full of options. But when his bed starts rocking, it’s his unexpectedly sexy neighbor who comes knocking. And the brainy beauty is impossible to ignore.

Josie Ives desperately needs something her celebrity neighbor obviously doesn’t: sleep. His headboard banging against the wall is keeping her up at night—not to mention inspiring some very naughty dreams. Reed is everything she imagined: a little too good-looking, with a body that puts Greek gods to shame. But he’s also funny and charming—a tempting combination. Josie’s the opposite of his type, yet the chemistry between them is undeniable. Their friendship certainly has its benefits, and it’s heating up to be so much more.

Sawyer Bennett’s New York Times bestselling Carolina Cold Fury series can be read together or separately.

4 Stars!

Hello again, hot hockey player! How I’ve missed you!

Sawyer Bennett’s newest book in the Cold Fury series is here and this time it is Reed’s story! We first met Reed in Van’s book when he asks out Simoine. He was sweet and funny, a real nice guy. However, that is not how Reed is initially portrayed in the prologue and opening chapters of the book. In fact, he is quite the manwhore who has a very obvious type. When his neighbor comes a knockin’ in the middle of the night, things between Josie and Reed start off a bit awkard and a whole lot hilarious!

Reed was a pleasure to read. Bennett’s smart writing style leads the way to a good flow, great characters and a sweet story; although, I felt this one to be a little bit clinical and not quite as feels-inducing as previous books in the series. There is some OM drama, but it is light and resolves quickly. Not as much interaction with other characters as in some of the previous books, but it worked here allowing for the focus to be mostly on Reed and Josie. BUT, there is a MAJOR tease to the next book in the late chapters and I have to tell you it has me all kinds of salivating for the next book.

Another great addition to one of my favorite series ever!

Hot New Release from Sawyer Bennett ~ 4.5 Stars for Van (Cold Fury #9)

Van (Cold Fury, Book #9)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: November 28, 2017

Synopsis:

Score one for the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team as a stone-cold badass melts for a woman who makes his blood run hot.

As one of the league’s toughest enforcers, Van Turner is ruthless on the ice. He plays hard because it’s the only way to channel the rage boiling inside, and a reputation as an A-hole is better than everyone knowing the truth. Van has spent his entire life running from a secret that’s kept him from getting involved in relationships—or accepting lucrative deals with East Coast teams. Then the Carolina Cold Fury makes him an offer he can’t refuse . . . and Van meets a woman he can’t resist.

Simone Fournier is the stubborn one in her family—and that’s saying something, considering her brothers are two of the Cold Fury’s biggest stars. Simone gets what she wants, and what she wants is Van. Still, there’s a part of him Simone can’t reach, no matter how hard she tries. In private, he’s all fire and passion. In public, he freezes her out. Van may want to push her away, but Simone won’t let him go that easily. Because this time, she’s playing for keeps.

My Review

4.5 Stars!

Van will steal your heart with his grumpy ways and his heart of gold!

Van is complicated guy with a dark backstory. He’s a jerk. Standoffish. He’s sexy as sin! Lucas’s bold little sister, Simone, wants Van and she will do whatever it takes to get him.

I think this is one of the best books in this series. Sawyer Bennett went a little bit darker with this one, but balanced it out nicely with a sweet, slow-burning love story. Van is more intense than his previous hockey brothers but it works perfectly with his dark backstory. Where Van is dark night, Simone is the sunshine. She is persistent and yet patient with him. She stands by him when he needs her the most. The climax to the story was held off until hearly 90%. Normally, I don’t like that. However, here I think it worked nicely. It allowed the relationship between Van and Simone to move along at a perfect pace. If Bennett had rushed them together, it would not have been as good a book.

A little word of warning, if you have not read Lucas and you want to, you might want to read it first before starting Van. The story runs concurrenlty to Lucas’s story and there are some spoilers.

Another great edition to the Cold Fury series and a sexy, romantic read!

New Sports Romance from Sawyer Bennet! 4 Stars for Lucas (Cold Fury #8)!!

Lucas (Cold Fury, Book #8)
Sawyer Bennett

Synopsis:
The Carolina Cold Fury hockey team is stacked with hotshots. But when a new player joins their ranks, he learns that even superstars can’t go it alone when it comes to love.

Lucas Fournier is only serious about one thing: hockey. The league’s fun-loving charmer, Luc is always up for a good prank or a great lay, and he has no intention of settling down. But being traded to the Carolina Cold Fury—and to play alongside his big brother, Max—is no joke. With another title in sight, the last thing Luc wants is to let his new teammates down. To succeed, Luc will need to keep his head in the game and the most . . . er, demanding member of his anatomy in check. But when temptation hits, Luc hits back harder.

Museum curator Stephanie Frazier has always put business before pleasure, which just about explains her nonexistent sex life. But when Stephanie meets Luc at a champagne-fueled gala, she finds herself flirting like crazy—and going home with the uninhibited athlete. For one night, she learns what passion is all about. She just never counted on the little surprise Luc leaves behind. And that’s when things really start to get . . . interesting.

Sawyer Bennett’s New York Times bestselling Carolina Cold Fury series can be read together or separately.

My Review:

4 Stars!

Sawyer Bennett brings us the next installment in the Carolina Cold Fury series, this time featuring Lucas Fournier.

Lucas Fournier, the younger brother of Max Fournier, is a passionate, loyal, sexy beast! Stephanie Fraizer is a outgoing and independent but her emotions are guarded better than Fort Knox. The two have a one night stand and start a very tentative relationship. You know friends with benefits never works, right? Of course, someone catches feelings. Feelings are hurt. Things are said.

I am a huge fan of Sawyer Bennett and her books, especially this series. While this was not my favorite of the series, I did enjoy the book. Stephanie was a bit hard to take, by design I imagine. I think I was supposed to feel badly for her because of her situation. I did, but it wasn’t enough to overpower the fact that annoyance I felt toward her at time. The plot itself was good with all the perfect elements of a great romance. I was very excited with the set up for the next book.

A sport romance that will appeal to everyone, especially Bennett fans!

Blurb:
New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett steams up the ice all over again as the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team’s hottest bad boy gets his first taste of something good.

In a league full of troublemakers, Cold Fury defenseman Roman Sýkora stands out—at least when it comes to negative publicity. When he’s not chilling in the penalty box, the sizzling Czech skate demon is racking up tabloid headlines for his scandalous behavior with the ladies. But now Roman’s feeling the burn from management to clean up his act, or else. Luckily he’s got an enticing distraction: a fun-loving barista who plays the ukulele and brings out a side of Roman he didn’t know he had.

Lexi Robertson came to Raleigh, North Carolina, to finally meet her father, Brian Brannon, and her half sister, Gray, both of whom work in the Cold Fury’s front office. That’s where she first meets sexy, intimidating Roman—who’s really a big softie at heart. As one relationship takes off, another begins: Brian seems to be clicking with Lexi’s boss at the coffee shop. But when the friction between Roman and her new family heats up, Lexi wonders whether she’s a pawn in their game. Feeling hurt and foolish, Lexi’s ready to quit while she’s ahead. Trouble is, Roman’s not ready to quit on her.

My Review:

4.5 Stars!

Well, Sawyer Bennett, you have nearly done it. Roman almost knocked Garrett of his pedestal at the top of my Sawyer Bennett Hockey Book Boyfriends. It was soooo close!

FYI – I am not giving a darn thing away, because I just don’t do that. So, if you’re looking for a spoiler or a long drawn out review…look elsewhere.

Roman Sykora is the Cold Fury’s bad boy on and off the ice. He is on thin ice with Gray Brannon, his position with the team possibly in jeopardy. Lexi is the cute girl he sees in the waiting area of the Cold Fury offices. They have a thing, there are complications, things work themselves out.

That’s it. That’s all you get.

I should, however, tell you that this book involves a third character who gets his/her own chapters. At first, I was like, what???, but then, I saw the purpose and actually enjoyed this person’s chapters a lot.

Another great hockey romance from Sawyer Bennett. Roman Sykora is one sexy bad boy with a side I didn’t see coming. The writing and story are what we have come to expect from Bennett, but with a little added extra. You are going to love this!

4.5/5 star review for Ryker: A Cold Fury Hockey Novel by Sawyer Bennett

51QSRIFKiyL._SS300_

Title:  Ryker: A Cold Fury Hockey Novel

Series: Carolina Cold Fury Hockey – Book 4

Author: Sawyer Bennett

Publisher: Loveswept

Publication Date: September 8, 2015

Genre:  Sports Romance

Pages:  249 pages

Rating:  4.5/5 stars

Synopsis:  The rugged men of the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team are winning hearts once again in another scorching novel from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett.

The stakes have never been higher for Carolina Cold Fury goalie Ryker Evans. With his contract running out, he’s got a year left to prove he’s still at the top of his game. And since his wife left him, Ryker has been balancing life as a pro-hockey star and a single parent to two daughters. Management is waiting for him to screw up. The fans are ready to pounce. Everybody’s taking dirty shots—except for the fiery redhead whose faith in Ryker gives him a fresh start.

As the league’s only female general manager, Gray Brannon has learned not to mix business with pleasure. And yet even this tough, talented career woman can’t help breaking her own rules as she gives Ryker everything she’s got. She hopes their hot streak will last forever, but with Ryker’s conniving ex plotting to reclaim her man, the pressure’s on Gray to step up and save a tender new love before it’s too late.

Review:   Ryker: A Cold Fury Hockey Novel by Sawyer Bennett is an adult contemporary sport romance that is book four in the Carolina Cold Fury Hockey series.  If you have not read any of the previous books, this series centers on the super-hot players on the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team.

Ryker Evans is the current goalie for Carolina Cold Fury.  Gray Brannon is the new GM for the Cold Fury and the first woman named to the GM position in the league.  Gray is trying to prove herself as capable in the position despite being a woman.  Ryker is trying to prove he should remain the starting goalie after a missed goal in the playoffs the previous year that knocked the Cold Fury out of the playoffs.  Ryker and Gray give in to their attraction even though they have to see each other in secret for a number of reasons.  The book is about their growing affection and the challenges they face in their budding relationship.

My only real critique is that while I found Gray to be a great female role model, I had a difficult time connecting with her on an emotional level.  I think that this may be purposeful on the part of Sawyer Bennett due to the nature of Gray’s personality (you will likely be able to see this, too, when you read the book), but even with that in mind, I liked the theme of the Gray character, but not necessarily the character herself.

For those of you who have read all or some of the previous Carolina Cold Fury novels, you will find this one to be a bit different.  The hockey player finds a woman, falls in love and they have to deal with drama along the way—that is all the same.  The difference is the main characters—Ryker and Gray—they are both in their early thirties, more mature, settled.  This is a change from the other Cold Fury novels and I think this is a good thing.  If you are expecting an alpha male chasing after the weaker female, you will be disappointed.  That is not what this one is about.  There is romance, sex (although not nearly as descriptive as the previous books), falling in love, interference and even danger.  We also get to catch up with our favorite characters from the previous books.

This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.  The book is written in alternating POVs.  There is a HEA.

Recommended for readers 17+ due to sexual situations, alcohol/drug use and violence
