Title: Skeletons of Us
Series: Unquiet Mind #2
Author: Anne Malcom
Genre: New Adult/Rock Star Romance
Release Date: September 2, 2016
Love can be a beautiful thing.
It can fill up your life with the warmth of its embrace and spread to every corner of your mind.
It can quiet your soul.
But when that love turns wrong, it warps into something bitter and unrecognizable.
The pain of it promises unyielding noise in place of that half-remembered silence.
Lexie has lived with this pain for four years, pouring it into music that transformed Unquiet Mind into the most famous rock band in the world.
But fame can also turn ugly, twist into that bitter version of love and endanger everything Lexie holds dear.
The moment Lexie’s life is threatened, he comes back to ensure she stays breathing.
He’s not just back to save her life, he’s back to save her soul and to claim what’s his.
Problem is, someone else already considers Lexie his, and he’ll kill to make sure she stays that way.
Man, this book was quite a ride and what a perfect ride it was! I went through all the feels reading Skeletons of Us.
Note: This is book 2 in a series. While you don’t have to have read book 1, I would highly recommend it. It not only gives you better insight into Skeletons of Us, book 1 was perfection.
Lexie is a rock star. She and her three best friends, Sam, Wyatt and Noah, have a successful rock band and are living the life. Except, Lexie isn’t really happy. Something in her past has haunted her for the past 4 years. Now, she’s just a shell of her former self, going through the motions, except for the music. She is the music and the music is her. When she receives threatening messages, Killian, the only boy she loved and also the only boy to break her heart, comes to her rescue and vows to protect what’s his.
Lexie is a complicated character. I loved her at times and at other times she drove me nuts. She loves Killian one minute and the next she’s screaming at him and she gets pretty cruel. I get the guy broke her heart, but wow…just wow.
Killian is alpha male all the way. Member of an MC, MMA fighter, growls all his words. He is sex on a stick and I loved him. He was just as broken after the break up with Lexie and he knows he shattered her. He works every minute of this book to fix what he broke and reclaim what is his.
There is so much I loved about this book that I could write ten thousand words, but no one has time for that. I will say that there was one thing that bothered me and that was the mixing of genres (?). Not sure genres is the word I’m looking for, but whatever. This was a mash up of rock stars, MCs, and MMA fighters, and it was almost too much. But not so much that I didn’t love it.
I hope you choose to read this. It will not disappoint.
