New Release ~ 4.5 Stars for The Hook-Up Experiment by Emma Hart!

1.Hate-screw my high school nemesis.

2.Remember to hate him.

3.Prove my brother wrong.

It should be easy.

It isn’t.

As the owner of Pick-A-Dick, New Orleans’ premier hook-up website, my job is simple. Connect two people for a no-strings, no-expectations hook-up. The plus for my clients is that I’m the one who gets to sift through the dick pics—except this time, they’re required.

My problem? My brother, co-owner of Pick-A-Dick’s sister dating site, doesn’t believe it’s possible to hook up with someone three times and not fall in love.

I disagree. I know it’s possible.

And my disagreement is exactly how I end up reconnected with my high school nemesis, Elliott Sloane. The guy who asked me to junior prom and then stood me up. Who egged my car when I rejected him, and convinced my senior homecoming date to ghost me.

It should be easy to hate-screw him. If only he was still that person, instead of a hot-as-hell single dad, working as a builder to make ends’ meet, fighting for custody of his daughter.

Not to mention packing in the pants department…

Three hook-ups.

One outcome.

My Review

4.5 Stars!!

Okay, okay… How could you go wrong with a book about a girl who runs a company called Pick-A-Dick? Well, there is nothing wrong with The Hook Up Experiment. This book is one of my favorite Emma Hart books! I absolutely loved Petyon and Elliott, particularly Elliott! Plus, there is a kiddo and nobody does book kids like Hart!

There is a $500 bet and three hearts on the line in this fun rom com. Stubborn Peyton hates Elliott for what he did to her in high school. Elliott isn’t a big Peyton fan either. When these two get hooked up unknowningly, sparks fly, swooning happens, panties melt and big old walls around hearts start coming down piece by piece.

A sexy, fun, slightly angsty rom com from Emma Hart! What else could you want?

“Is she okay with that juice?” Peyton watched her go.

I selected the Blu-ray from the cupboard and shot a smirk her way. “Sorry to break it to you, but you’re getting a juice box.”

“I can live with that.”

I turned away and hit the eject button on the player. “You didn’t have to say yes to her, you know.”

“Of course, I had to. Have you seen those eyes? How do you say no to her, ever?”

“I think of all the times she screams and swings her arms like a tiny terrorist, and it’s pretty easy.” I put the disk in and turned around.

Peyton had one eyebrow raised. “See, now, I’d think that’s reason to say no.”

“It depends on the day. Sometimes it results in her being put to bed to calm down, which means she ends up taking a rare afternoon nap, and I get some peace and quiet.”

“That’s a thing around her? She was talking to me for thirty minutes flat about what I did and didn’t like.”

“Only thirty minutes? Lucky you. She has about three hours of material of that.” I took a seat on the sofa, making sure to leave space between us for Bri. “Did she get started on hedgehogs yet?”

Peyton looked a little confused. “Hedgehogs?”

“YouTube is the devil.”

“That…was quite the jump in subject.”

I laughed as the main menu music hit on the TV. “I’m going to preface this by saying kids are weird.”

“Some get that from their parents.”

I blinked at her for a second. She wasn’t wrong if half these people who had a mini-career opening fucking toys on YouTube were parents.

“There are a bunch of stupid videos on YouTube, and apparently, watching people open toys is thrilling.”

Now, she looked really confused.

“And on one of those she watched, the person had a pet hedgehog who wasn’t having the nonsense of her opening a Hatchimal on camera, so it stole the egg.”

She blinked several times in quick succession. “I have no idea what you just said, and if I’m honest… Please don’t explain it.”

I laughed and hit play on the TV.

“Here’s your dooce-box,” Briony said, handing Peyton two. “And das mine. I can’t do the straws.”

“Oh. Right. Okay.” Peyton looked at the two juices that had been thrust at her.

Smiling, I took one from her. I pulled the straw off the back, out of the tiny plastic slip, and poked it through the foiled hole in the top. “There you go,” I said to Briony. “What do you want for dinner?”

She put the straw in her mouth and pursed her lips as she sucked the juice up. Peyton watched her, lips twitching, as she put her straw in place.

“Pizza!” Briony announced.

Oh no. I’d eaten too much pizza lately.

Was there such a thing as too much pizza?

Maybe if the toppings were changed up…

“Peydon, do you want pizza?” Bri asked, leaning right into her.

“I like pizza,” she replied, smiling sweetly down at her. “What’s your favorite?”

“I like spots and cheese.”

I coughed on my water. “Pepperoni,” I explained. “They look like spots on the pizza.”

Peyton’s eyes met mine for a minute. Silent laughter shone back at me. That really was toddler logic at its finest.

“You know,” she said, looking down at Peyton. “Spots are my favorite, too!”

Once again, Briony gasped. “Reawy?”

“Really, really. I love spots.”

Oh, Jesus.

It might have been a mistake introducing these two. Not only was my daughter becoming increasingly obsessed with someone who seemed to be a brunette, adult version of her…

No, that was the problem. Peyton was the brunette, adult version of Briony, attitude and all—and if there was anything my daughter didn’t need, it was someone who could teach her a thing or ten about sarcasm.

“I’ll order pizza,” I said, going to stand.

“Oh, you got it last time. I’ll go call them.” Peyton put her juice on the side table and tried to move, but Briony stopped her.

“No. Mimi told me that only gentlemen buy dinner. Princesses sit and look priddy.”

Peyton looked down at her. “Sit and look pretty? I like to buy my own pizza sometimes, and that’s okay.”

Without missing a beat, Briony said, “Princesses sit and look priddy so the mens buying dinner don’t know dat we can kick dere butts.”

My Review

4 Stars!

I can always count on a good read from R. C. Boldt and Tap That was no exception. A fun, enemies-to-lovers romance between co-workers, Callie and Reid. Callie is funny, a little bit sarcastic and has a big heart. Reid is more than he seems at first with a bit of a sad background and a big heart, as well. At first, Callie and Reid are enemies, she took his job, after all, but despite the job between them, they have a spark that is difficult to ignore. After Reid kisses Callie for the first time, they can’t seem to get enough.

Blackwood and Boldt make a great writing team. The book is laugh out loud funny with amazing characters. I like that both Callie and Reid were flawed and a bit vulnerable. It’s the flaws and vulnerability that add so much to the book. The funny moments and the sexy times are great, but the background stories added depth and emotion that I appreciated.

I highly recommend this read!

Hot New Release ~ 4 Stars for Man Flu by Shari J. Ryan!

Man Flu – A Stand-Alone Romantic Comedy

Shari J. Ryan

Now Available

I was trying to live every woman’s dream, except my reality has been nothing but a nightmare job and a divorce at the age of thirty-two. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, my ex-husband, Rick, moved in next door with his life-size Barbie doll. So, that’s been fun.

Then, life pitched me a curve-ball in the form of a retired major-league baseball player, Logan Grier. With his panty-dropping smile, he’s like an expertly photoshopped version of David Beckham, and he’s single. Could life be perfect after all? Of course not. As always, there had to be a catch. Logan had a secret, and I couldn’t help feeling like the truth was dangling right in front of my face.

With Rick’s daily agenda of torturing me, Logan has been an enticing distraction, despite the little fact that he’s my temporary employee. Plus, I didn’t exactly care that his flirty behavior may have been a plan to get in good with the boss. In any case, I was willing to toss a few balls with him, seeing as my playing field hadn’t had any action in over a year.

That’s when it happened…my two worlds collided. Hot temp met the ex, and a full-on bromance was born, but that’s only the beginning.

The “man flu” has come out of nowhere and hit both Logan and Rick with a virus they’re claiming to be worse than childbirth. In fact, they’re pretty sure their end is near.

Will the “man flu” be the kiss of death, or will it be my window for an opportunistic change?

My Review

4 Stars!

Hannah is my spirit animal! I am telling you now, if you are a mother who has ever doubted herself, read this book. Hannah is a hot mess and she will make you feel all kinds of better about yourself. The book will also make you wish you had a Logan for yourself, but hey, we can’t have everything.

This book is great! First of all, Shari J. Ryan’s writing style is perfect for this book – easy, conversational, flows well. Then there is the plot – single, divorced mom of one, working full time at a mom’s magazine run by men. She has a sassy assistant Brielle, who just says whatever whenever. Hannah’s daughter, Cora, is absolutely hysterical with her frank outburts and inability to not tell the honest, hard truth. Tiana is the new girlfriend of Hannah’s ex who is just dumb. Rick, the ex, is so smarmy and obnoxious he’s the guy you love to hate. Then, there is Logan. Oh my Logan! He is hot, sexy, sweet, says what’s on his mind and he does not give Hannah an inch when she goes all poor me.

Okay, so let’s get to the real fun! The ManFlu! Ladies and gents, the man flu portion of this book is pee your pants funny! Let me just warn you, Shari J. Ryan is not afraid of descriptively describing the bodily fluids that go along with the flu. So, if your stomach isn’t friends with this kind of thing, you can just read the dialogue on those pages and still get the gist of the story. Anywho, Ryan hit the man flu on the head. She also hit Hannah’s reaction to said man flu on the head.

Is it wrong of me to have a girl crush on Hannah? No? Yes? Who the heck cares? I totally do!!

This book will make you laugh, swoon, cringe (a lot of cringing) and maybe even cry (happy tears, of course). I highly recommend it!

New Romantic Comedy ~ Sky’s the Limit by Alle Aycart

Tired of waiting for her big break in the fashion industry, Sky Gonzalez, eternal part-time student and overworked retail drone, quits her job, sublets her New York apartment, and embarks on a semester abroad study program in Paris. Paris! Time to throw caution to the winds and jump-start her dreams. What’s the worst that could happen?

How about getting sent to the wrong Paris? As in Paris-frigging-Minnesota?

Bye-bye career dreams. Bye-bye glamour and haute couture. Hello flannel shirts, mind-numbing cold, zero bars on the cell phone, and socially challenged mountain men with tons of unruly facial hair.

So yeah, let the truck barreling her way hit her, please. Less painful.

Logan should have dodged the little lost waif and kept on driving. Who in their right mind walked in the middle of the road, dressed in white from head to high heels, during a snowstorm? Clueless city girls, that’s who. Sky is all that Logan has gladly left behind: stylish, cosmopolitan, and a massive pain in the butt. He wouldn’t trade a single day in his quirky little corner of the woods for all the high-maintenance beauties the city can offer.

Too bad this beauty has been deemed a health hazard and quarantined in his house. Damn his doomsday-prepper neighbors and their paranoid emergency protocols. Now he has to keep Sky in and the pandemic squad out until the roads are clear. The question is, will that happen before or after Sky realizes she’s under house arrest?

Ah, the best-laid plans…

My Review

4 Stars!

I am in love with this sweet, oh so sexy, opposites attract romance!

Elle Aycart has written a quirky little town full of doomsday preppers. Sky’s the Limit is the first in this new series and features Sky and Logan. Sky is a sweet, fashion forward girl who shines with positivity. She was all set for an internship in Paris, France that would hopefully lead to a job in the Paris fashion houses. In a big mix up, Sky ends up on Paris, Minnesota, a far cry from Europe. She actually ends up stranded on the roadside just outside of NoName, Minnesota. NoName, Minnesota – land of the preppers. Sky is rescued by Logan, a chemist who is a handsome, dirty-talking chemist with a very peculiar job. The two are opposites, but the attraction is there from the beginning.

The town of NoName and its residents are the perfect backdrop for this fish out of water story. As quirky as they were, they were certainly endearing. Sky and Logan are a great couple and you root for them the whole way. The book isn’t all sunshine and roses and it isn’t all romcom. Aycart tackles a particularly difficult topic in the book and does it with such grace and care that I have to commend her. Fantastic job, Elle Aycart!

Sky’s the Limit provides LOL funny moments, steamy hot moments and swoonworthy moments that make this book a winner! I look forward to the next book

This was so not happening. “Are you serious?” Sky choked out.
“I’m afraid so. I’ll make it up to you later, I swear. Get dressed.” Logan reached for the keys, unlocked one cuff, freed her from the headboard, and jumped off the bed. “Dark clothes. Camo if you’ve got it.”
She snorted, sitting up. “You’re joking, right? The closest I’ve gotten to camo was watching—with contempt, I might add—an episode of Duck Dynasty.”
“Black sweatpants then.”
Sure, like she had packed that for Paris. The only sweatpants she had were gold and pink. Prada, spring collection.
“Where’s the key for the cuffs?” she asked, looking around.
“I left it on the bed,” Logan shouted from the closet.
Sky patted the bedsheets but no luck. “Can’t find it.”
Logan came back carrying a big rucksack. He left it on the floor and lifted the bedcovers. No key. “Maybe it fell on the floor?”
Sky pointed at the rucksack, ominously similar to the ones she’d seen the 10K participants carry. “Don’t tell me. Bug-out bag?”
“Bug-out bag. We need to hurry. They time these drills. If we mess up their schedule, we won’t ever live it down. Get ready. I’ll search for the key.”
Where had she gone wrong? She’d had a nice, comfortable city life. Friday meant cosmopolitans, sexy clothes, and a fancy date with dinner and dancing. Hot sex if she was lucky. Now? She was in the middle of nowhere, getting ready for an evacuation drill, her mascara down her chest, her hair a mess, and her clit hurting like a bitch from not coming. No dinner. No dancing.
She heard the front door opening and a woman yelling, “Logan! Move it! Where are you?”
“My sister got tired of waiting outside.”
“Forget the key and go meet her downstairs,” Sky urged him. “Before she gets in here. Or worse, before Arnie attacks her.”
“Fuck.” Logan grabbed the bag and dashed out of the room. “We’re coming! Go back to the car. Give us a minute.”
“You got thirty seconds,” was the annoyed reply.
Sky pulled the first long-sleeved-shirt she could find over herself, hoping to cover the cuffs hanging from one wrist. It was Logan’s, so it went down to her knees. Whatever. She ran to her room and put on the pink-and-gold sweatpants and the black-and-red rubber boots. Jesus Christ, talk about hillbillying it.
She dashed downstairs. Logan was holding the front door for her. Outside, the horn on a big, black truck was blaring.
“About time,” said the driver, a gruff man dressed in camo, as they jumped in the vehicle. A woman with pixie-cut hair, also wearing camo, was riding shotgun. Megan, Logan’s sister, Sky presumed.
“If you batshit wackos would schedule your damn drills at a more reasonable hour, or let us know beforehand, this wouldn’t happen,” Logan snapped back.
“It wouldn’t be much of an emergency evacuation drill if we gave notice beforehand, would it?” the pixie lady said.

After a colorful array of jobs all over Europe ranging from translator to chocolatier to travel agent to sushi chef to flight dispatcher, Elle Aycart is certain of one thing and one thing only: aside from writing romances, she has abso-frigging-lutely no clue what she wants to do when she grows up. Not that it stops her from trying all sorts of crazy stuff. While she is probably now thinking of a new profession, her head never stops churning new plots for her romances. She lives currently in Barcelona, Spain, with her husband and two daughters, although who knows, in no time she could be living at the Arctic Circle in Finland, breeding reindeer.Elle loves to hear from readers!

About the Author:

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

New Rom-Com ~ Three Blind Dates by Meghan Quinn!

“Good Morning Malibu, it’s another beautiful day on the west coast! I’m Noely Clark, your host: and I’m in the market for love…”

When the publicity team of the new local restaurant, Going in Blind, began their search for a hot, local celebrity to promote the wildly popular eatery, they couldn’t have found a better person than me.

Outgoing? Check.
Single? Check.
Open to finding love? Check.

I signed up immediately.

A hopeless romantic with an exceedingly demanding schedule, I’ve found it impossible to find the man of my dreams—so Going in Blind seems too good to be true! That’s until they start setting me up on dates—three very different, very attractive, very distinct blind dates—and only one thing is for certain . . .

I’m in big trouble.

Good Morning Malibu,
I’m Noely Clark, and I have a choice to make.
The question is who will I choose; the suit, the rebel, or the jock

With both hands, I grip the tumbler and pour it back in my mouth like I’m trying to get the crumbs out of an almost-empty chip bag. The liquid burns my throat once again, but I welcome it. I welcome the shudders, loving how I can feel my body starting to float. I have one more glass, because why not? Yes, this was a good idea. A very good idea. I just need to loosen up, find my groove, feel the blind date—

I spin around in my chair, probably a little too fast, given I need to grip the back of my chair to steady myself.

“IceBiscuit?” My eyes don’t meet his. Instead, I’m at nipple level, taking in his very broad and muscular chest. Wow. Heat rises to the back of my neck, and I know it’s not the whiskey; it’s the powerful chest right in front of me, and are those . . . are those his pecs? They’re all defined and large and yummy and . . . sigh. Curiosity pops out of me before I can stop myself, and I poke his chest. When I’m greeted with a firm bounce, I giggle to myself. “Pecs,” I mutter under my breath. Yep, yummy indeed. IceBiscuit is putting the work in at the gym and not shoving cheesesteaks down his throat. Hand on his chest, my fingers diddling his shirt, I look up to find a very confused but familiar face.

Oh God.

Have you ever felt all the blood in your face leech out of you, as if every last piece of color drains from your features and falls to the floor from total and utter embarrassment?

Try not only diddling your date’s chest, but diddling the one and only Hayden Holmes’s chest.

Shaking my hand away, as if he’s burned me. I stand from my chair but stumble forward. Clearly, heels and whiskey don’t mix. I fall to my knees and curse under my breath. I pop up quickly, my legs feeling like a newborn calf’s, and throw my arms up in the air like a gymnast on her dismount. To add to the embarrassment, I say, “Nine point five, not a perfect ten, but I’ll get there.” I laugh nervously and right my shirt, while lowering my arms. “They don’t score like that anymore, but who’s really going to say fourteen-point-two-six-seven? I mean, especially when the viewers don’t know the degree of difficulty. You know?” Hayden just stares at me, so to put that final nail in my coffin, I punch his arm and say, “Gymnastics, am I right?”

Exposed and embarrassed, I glance at Danny, who’s watching from a distance with a look that says, I told you so. In my head, I shout back at him, “Shut up, Danny!”

Hayden reaches behind his neck and pulls on it, his large bicep flexing beneath his shirt. He’s dressed casually in a dark pair of jeans and tight-fitting, long-sleeved shirt. “Uh, are you okay?”

“Yep, fit as a fiddle.” I motion with a low fist pump across my body, as if to say, just dandy. Although I’m thinking just dandy would have been better than fit as a fiddle. Who can really know at this point? They’re both something my grandpa would say with a hop and a click of his heels in the air.

“Good.” He looks around, scanning the restaurant. “Never thought I’d run into you here. Are you ShopGirl?”

“I am but you can call me, Noely. Noely Clark.” I awkwardly grab his hand from his hip and shake it. “Nice to meet you.”

Puzzled, Hayden laughs. “I remember who you are, Noely.”

“Oh yeah, of course.” I pat my legs and say, “This is weird. I, uh, I didn’t think I would be matched with you, so I’m feeling nervous and intimidated. Because, you know, you’re all hot and whatnot with your hockey body and strong thighs and nice hair. And I’m sure if you turned around right now, I would see your high, tight ass.” My hands cup together and my face scrunches as I form a tight ass for him.

Note to self.

Whiskey equals truth serum. Shit. Shit and double shit. Why tonight? Why Hayden?

“Thanks.” He chuckles and looks over my shoulder. “Started early on the drinks?”

“Maybe.” I bite my bottom lip. “Third blind date and rough day equals more drinks for me.”

Hayden knowingly nods. “Got ya. Should we get some food in you so you don’t pass out onto your dinner?”

“Good idea.” I bop his nose, hating my inability to stop my hands from doing stupid things.

Hayden holds out his arm to me, which I take no time in grabbing. Ooo, so many muscles. I can feel his forearm rippling beneath my palm. Forearms are the new abs. I’m calling it now.

4 Stars!!

Gah! This book will make you swoon!

McKenna has come up with the perfect dating app, aptly named Perfect Match. Now, she just needs to get the funding so can officially launch the app. Enter Jack Callahan, investor extrodinaire, noted playboy with sexy as hell English accent and a body that doesn’t quit. McKenna goes to some pretty great lengths (or heights) to get a meeting with Callahan and when she finally does, he shuts her down. She offers a bet, if her app can find him the perfect match within 60 days, he will give her $1 million dollars and become a minority stakeholder. The rest of the story shows just how unexpected love and life can be.

I have read all the books in this series and this is by far my favorite. McKenna and Jack are great. You can’t help but love them both. McKenna’s friends and coworkers are great secondary characters. The book is a little opposites attract, a little bit of forbidden romance and a tiny bit enemies to lovers (but just a tiny bit). I enjoyed the little bit of reluctance on McKenna’s part to get involved with Jack who is her co-worker of sorts. I also really enjoyed the social commentary that Lila Monroe wrote into the story. Jack is hard not to love and I was rooting for him all along. There is some interference from outside sources and for you haters of OM/OW, well, it’s there, sort of, but only as an added twist to the plot and not in an annoying way.

A fun, LOL romance that could your perfect match for a weekend read!

Blog Tour ~ 4 Stars for Most Eligible Bastard by Annika Martin!

Title: Most Eligible Bastard
Author: Annika Martin
Genre: Romantic Comedy

Most Eligible Bastard, an all-new standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Annika Martin is LIVE!

He’s a powerful billionaire CEO who built the family business into an empire. The money doesn’t matter to him, but the company is his life. And then his eccentric mother wills it all to her tiny dog.

I’m Vicky, the dog whisperer. (Not really, but that’s what my elderly neighbor always says.) When she dies, she surprises everybody by leaving a corporation worth billions to her dog, Smuckers. With me as his spokesperson.

Suddenly I go from running my Etsy store to sitting in an elegant Wall Street boardroom with Smuckers in my lap. And my neighbor’s son, Henry Locke, aka New York’s most eligible bachelor, glaring across the table at me.

Rumor has it Henry’s a business genius who’s as talented in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom. Sure, he’s gorgeous. Sex-in-a-seven-thousand dollar suit. But…

He’s arrogant and infuriating.
He refuses to listen to me when I insist I didn’t con his mother.
He thinks he can bully me, buy me off, control me, even seduce me.

Henry may have the women of Manhattan eating out of the palm of his hand, but I’m so over entitled rich guys who think they own the world.

No way will his wicked smile be charming ME out of my panties.

His wicked…devastating…impossible-to-resist smile.

Oh well, who needs panties anyway?

She glares at me now. “I can’t believe you tried to strip poor Smuckers of his vote. Do you have no decency?”
“When it comes to protecting this company?” I say. “No.”
Her gaze intensifies. “Just no?”
“None at all,” I say. “No decency whatsoever. Nada, if you will.”
Her pretty lips part. It’s shock. Maybe a little bit awe.
I give her an amused smile, adjusting my jacket sleeve over my cuff just so. The suit was tailored by a man who charges three hundred bucks an hour and is worth every penny.
“Uh,” she says. “You think you’re all that? You’re not.”
“Oh, I am all that,” I say. “I very much am. And for the record, I will crush you in the end.”
“Smuckers had this medication once,” she says. “We tried to hide it in his food, and he spit it out. No matter what we did, he’d spit it out.” She puts one finger on the paper with the new amendment and slides it back across the desk. “Smuckers doesn’t like when people try to fool him. That’s his message for you.”
“I have a message for Smuckers.” I put my finger on it and slide it back across to her. “Smuckers needs to know that we have a private investigator on this case. Smuckers might not have very nice food to eat if you ended up in prison.”
Finally she looks scared.
Brett swoops in. “I say we settle this. One-time offer from me personally.” He writes the number—$4,500,000.00. “This offer expires in two minutes.”
My heart pounds. She needs to take offer. We’ve shown how close she can come to losing everything.
She looks at the paper.
She’s all alone caring for that sister of hers. She’s poor—we have her banking information; we know it for a fact. She has every reason in the world to take it. Yet she hesitates.
“This is our last offer,” Brett says. “After this, we’ll take the company from you, and you’ll get nothing.”
She raises her brown eyes to me. It’s me she’s really dealing with. I like that she knows that.
“You know what Smuckers hates even more than being fooled?” she says.
My heart pounds. She almost lost everything to me, and now she’s going to tell me a dog story?
“He hates being threatened,” she says. “And bullied. He really, really hates it.”
“Well he’s going to have to get used to it,” I hear myself saying. “He’s used to bubbles and bows and sunny parks but he’s in the jungle now. There are animals who are faster and stronger and smarter than he is. Animals who will dominate him easily—savagely, even.”
“Then you don’t know Smuckers very well.”
“Oh, I know all about Smuckers, and I’d suggest he practice rolling over. Baring his belly for the superior predator.” I lower my voice. “Begging sweetly for mercy.”
The color heightens in her face. This shouldn’t be fun.
But oh, it is.
I keep going. “Smuckers may think he can request packets and bylaws and get up to speed, but he can’t compete here. He doesn’t have the skills.”
“Smuckers thinks owning fifty-one percent is the best skill to have,” she says.

My Review

4 Stars!

Let me just start by saying there is a lot going on in this book. It won’t appear that way from the beginning, but the further you delve into it, you will see the cracks in the facade and the little nuggets of light showing through revealing what is underneath. That may sound ominous, but it really isn’t. It is just the way it is.

The story is great, if a little complex. The writing is a bit frenetic for me and things jump around a bit, but overall I really enjoyed it. The main story of opposites attract is what makes this book shine. Henry is not what he first appears. He’s a bit misunderstood. The reason for that is revealed as the book progresses. Actually, the whole appearances thing is the theme here. Vicky is also not who she appears to be in more ways than one. However, don’t let that fool you. There is no real trickery here with regards to the plot itself. The plot is quite straight forward – opposites attract and better each other. I like that the secondary characters only play bit parts to drive the plot and don’t pull your interest away from Henry and Vicky. The dog, Smuckers is really only a plot driver, as well. Vicky is great, but Henry is the true star of the book. As those cracks in the facade started to shine through, it only heightened my interest in how things would play out. Martin certainly didn’t go the route I expected and that was a nice surprise. She could have taken the straight and narrow and made it typical, but instead, when things got a bit dicey, she turned the tables on how it played out.

Other than the frenetic style of writing, I really enjoyed the book. It will appeal to all romance lovers.

My Review

4.5 Stars!

Lauren Blakely, the queen of male POV, brings us another hot, hilarious rom com!

Patrick and Mia are amazing! They have chemistry and their back and forth banter is the best! Patrick wants to settle down and the one woman he wants to settle down with isn’t really on the same page. Mia is a cosmetics mogul with a sassy personality. I loved Mia in Joy Ride and I was psyched to see she was getting her HEA!

Adventure, banter and one seriously hot shower scene make for another Lauren Blakely hit!
