jadedhearts_frontcover_loresSigning with Brighthouse Records was supposed to be everything we ever wanted—our better life. Our chance at everything we never had but always wanted. All our dreams would finally come true and we were on top of the world. It was our chance at the happiness we never had in life.

Our every desire was at our fingertips and the power of that feeling was all consuming. But then it took every dream we thought would come true and it slapped us in the face with the cold hard reality.

Dreams were just that…something that floated on the cusp of untouchable, taunting you with every graze of your fingertips before slipping even further away.

Happiness…that feeling is a joke.

In the end it became painfully obvious that each of us would always have each other, but we would forever be alone.

Sara’s Review

4.5/5 Stars!!

Harper Sloan gives us another hot, sexy, feel it in your bones romance with Jaded Hearts.

Listen up all you Intas-love haters!  There is insta-love loud and proud between our hero and heroine and it is lovely and perfect and wonderful, so you can all just shush it!  (But, I still love you all!!!!)

Wrenlee Davenport is living her dream of being a famous rock star with her twin brother and their two best friends.  With the fame and fortune comes sucky managers, big bad record labels, danger and a little bit of loneliness.  The guys cope with the loneliness a little better than Wrenlee, who feels she has been used for her fame and doesn’t really trust that she can open her heart to someone and not get used in the process.  But, she desperately wants that connection.  She wants her happily ever after.  Something happens and the guys want to beef up security, because security from the label is a joke.  Enter, Chance…

Yes.  That’s right.  He is that Chance, from Hope Town, from Corps Security, Cohen’s best friend.

Okay.  Confession time.  I saw Harper Sloan’s name on the sign up announcement and didn’t even read the blurb.  I just signed up.  Because, really, Harper Sloan = must read.  For me, anyway.  Soooo…that meant I didn’t know that this was in anyway connected to the Hope Town series, which it really isn’t, but it kind of is.  It’s like a standalone, spin-off, introducing a whole new group of characters for what I am desperately hoping is a new series.  (Hey, Harper.  You here that?  But, don’t stop writing those Hope Town novels, either.  I think there are still some boys and girls who need books.  **smooches**)

Confession time over.

Back to Chance.

Chance is hotter than hot.  Steamy, scorching, fire and flames shooting from the pages hot, with the sweetest little hint of insecurity that makes him oh so lovable.  I won’t tell you about his back story, because that would ruin it for you and I am not about that.  Chance is all business with everything he does and yet he comes across as probably the most human of all the Hope Town boys.  His chemistry with Wrenlee is crazy off-the-charts.

The secondary characters of Luke, Jamieson and Weston are awesomely lovable.  Especially that Jamieson!

The story is good.  Heavy on the romance and sex with a side of danger, because why else would Chance be there.  There are even a few pages that include one of our boys back home.

Harper Sloan is pretty much a genius in my eyes, so I’m biased and darn proud of it.  But, that being said, this book is a great addition to her list of books and I can’t wait for you all to read it!

One of my Top Reads of 2016!

2-insane-life

Goddamn, that smile is dangerous.

Who am I kidding? He is dangerous.

I do my best to ignore him, but it’s impossible. The steady brush of his arm against where mine is resting on our shared armrest constantly reminds me how much my body wants his touch. The scent of his delicious cologne hits my senses, making me want to climb in his lap and rub my face over his chest to get a potent lungful of it.

I can’t even remember the last time I was this horny, which is pathetically sad, since it was probably around the same time I actually got laid. Years. I think. Close to three. Maybe that’s why I’m a hot mess lately. I turn my head to study the side of his face and wonder if I can use this situation to my advantage. I mean, after all, we are in a ‘relationship’ now.

He turns and gives me a questioning arch of his dark brows, but I brush it off in favor of playing Disney Emoji Blitz on my phone.

By the time we had hit cruising altitude, I could hear the other men around me snoring away but not Chance. He’s fiddling with his phone, completely ignorant of the fact I’m about to start humping his leg.

“Excuse me,” I breathily say, unbuckling my belt and standing to move around him. I stand there, my head bent slightly because of the overhead, and wait. He doesn’t move, though. Instead, he drops his phone to his lap and gives me his complete attention; his eyes even dance a little like he’s finding this whole damn thing funny. “Excuse me,” I repeat, no longer breathy, and seconds away from coming.

No, that’s a lie. I’m still breathy and very much seconds away from soaking my panties even more than they already are.

His large hands grab my hips, and he guides me down on his lap with no resistance from my treacherous body.

“Not what I meant,” I say through clenched teeth, trying to sound harsh and offended, but I just sound dazed and turned on. I wiggle in his hold, trying to get free, but he’s too strong for me.

He leans up in his seat, his chest hitting my back and buries his face in my neck. I’m sure anyone who saw us would see a loving couple who just can’t keep their hands to themselves. He’s playing a dangerous game, though, because the second the solid, hard length of him presses against my backside, I forget this is supposed to be a game and squirm a little more. His teeth nip at my shoulder at the same time his groan hits my ears.

“Stop moving, Wren,” he demands, tightening his fingers on my hips.

“You’re the one who put me on your lap.” I curl my fingers over the empty seat in front of me and squeeze my eyes shut when I feel him growing harder under me.

“Yeah, because the flight attendant who just walked by had her phone out and pointed right at us. She’s doing a shit job of making it look like she’s doing something with her paperwork.” His hand comes off my hip, and he cups my jaw, turning my head to the side just when I was about to look up at where I last saw the attendant, forcing me to shift until all it would take is me throwing one leg over his body to be face-to-face. “Do not look at her,” he stresses; the sudden movement of twisting my body makes me bounce slightly in his lap, rubbing my legging-clad ass against his erection. His eyes drop to my mouth where I pull my bottom lip between my teeth and groan.

“Give me a reason not to look,” I dare him.

“You don’t want to go down that road, Wren. I’ll protect you from the world, but you need to protect yourself from me.”

“No one is asking you to.”

Not even knowing if we’re still being watched, I twist my torso the rest of the way, pulling my legs up until they’re bent at his stomach between us. Now that I’m facing him completely, I bring my hands up to curl them both around his shoulders before dragging them up to wrap around the corded muscles at the sides of his neck. His nostrils flare, but he doesn’t stop me. I give him the chance, but it never comes. Dropping my head, I press my lips to his. I explore his lips with small pecks and little licks of my tongue, learning his mouth before pressing more firmly. He sucks in a breath when I open my mouth and slowly drag the tip of my tongue over his bottom lip.

And then his control snaps.

His hands—still at my hips—lift me effortlessly until my legs are no longer folded between us, but now digging into the hard armrests with my knees pushing into his thighs, my back hitting the seat in front of me. His mouth opens, and his tongue meets mine, no hesitation whatsoever, as he deepens the kiss.

Our breathing echoes around us, making it sound like everyone on this plane could hear us, but I know it’s just because our faces are so close. I let out a moan, one that he swallows, that turns into a whine when he pulls back.

“That can’t happen again,” he softly scolds, just as breathless as I am.

What the hell? I might not have been into this whole fake-boyfriend-slash-bodyguard thing before, but I’ll be damned if I’m not going to take advantage of the situation. Especially now that I know how alive he makes me feel. Three years since I had pleasure from anything other than my own hand, and if that kiss is anything to go by, what Chance could make me feel is ten times more powerful than anything I’ve ever felt in my whole life.

I’m not passing that up.

Nope.

No fucking way.

“We’ll see about that.”

Excerpt

I gave her a little shove, and she fell to the mattress. She aimed a meaningful glance at my jeans, and that was all the encouragement I needed to drop them to the ground. She crawled backward, and I followed, stalking her every movement until we were flat against a bank of pillows.

“Hi,” she said, running her hand up my flank and over my shoulder. She hooked her leg around my waist and pulled me flush against her. My cock was acutely aware that only my boxers and her panties separated us, and was alternately thrilled with that situation and impatient as hell. She smiled, a little shy. “I like the way you touch me.”

“That’s good because I really enjoy touching you,” I said, bringing my lips to her neck and trailing them down between her breasts. “I didn’t want to let you go when I met you last night. Wanted to keep you all to myself.”

“Oh,” she said, her eyebrow quirking as if this was an peculiar sentiment. “I don’t think anyone’s ever wanted to keep me before.”

Fuck, she was too much. Just too much. Beautiful and rough around every edge yet vulnerable and sensitive.

“I want to keep you,” I said, sliding my fingers behind her back to unclasp her bra. “I’ll keep you as long as you let me, lovely.” Her arms moved to her chest the minute her bra went flying over my shoulder. That vulnerability? There it was again. “And I want to see you, too.”

A groan was rumbling past my lips the second her arms went around my neck and she was bared to me. I thought her tits were a crime in that t-shirt, but I had no idea. They were full and pale, and delicious. I licked and sucked as if I was trying to consume her, and maybe I was.

“Say something,” she whispered, her fingers raking through my hair. “I want…I want to know what you’re thinking.”

I released her nipple with a satisfied groan, and then dropped kisses on each of her breasts before finding her eyes. “I’m thinking get me inside you right now.”

Our lips met as my fingers inched her panties over her hips. I could take her just like this, face-to-face while I tasted her hungry hums, and I’d want for nothing.

“You probably thought I’d be crazy in bed,” she said, her words muffled as she spoke against my neck. “Like, I don’t know, adventurous and kinky. Like, I keep nipple clamps in my back pocket and actually prefer wearing thongs, and I’m always down for anal. And it’s my fault, really. This whole night has been pretty wild, and I kissed you like a maniac and then everything on the boat, and it wouldn’t be wrong to think that tequila on my tits is an average Saturday morning but—”

“It only matters what you want,” I said, tipping up her chin. “Don’t worry about what I think, or what you think I’m thinking. Tell me what you want.”

Erin’s fingers clawed at my boxers, and together we got them over my hips and out of the way. Her panties were long gone and my cock was in love with the wet heat between her legs.

“Please don’t make it hurt,” she whispered.

I shook my head and dropped a kiss on her forehead. “Never.”

Blog Tour: 4.5 Star Review of Hit the Spot by J. Daniels

hit-the-spot-banner

hit-the-spot-ebook-coverIs this love or just a game?

Tori Rivera thinks Jamie McCade is rude, arrogant, and worst of all . . . the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on. His reputation as a player is almost as legendary as his surfing skills. No matter how her body heats up when he’s around, she’s determined not to be another meaningless hookup.

Jamie McCade always gets what he wants. The sickest wave. The hottest women. And Tori, with her long legs and smart mouth, is definitely the hottest one. He knows Tori wants him-hell, most women do-but she won’t admit it. After months of chasing and one unforgettable kiss, it’s time for Jamie to raise the stakes.

Jamie promises that soon Tori won’t just want him in her bed, she’ll be begging for it-and he might be right. Somehow he’s found the spot in her heart that makes her open up like never before. But with all she knows about his past, can she really trust what’s happening between them? Is Jamie playing for keeps or just playing to win?

This book can be read as a stand-alone.

Book 1–Four Letter Word

My Review:

4.5/5 Stars!

If you like outspoken, dirty-talking heroes with hearts, than this book is for you.  If you like J. Daniels books, then this book is for you.  If you are a red-blooded female, this book is for you.

I honestly don’t think I have ever read a more determined hero character ever.  Jamie McCade is this dirty-talking, alpha male with caveman tendencies and a heart of gold tucked under all that loud, brash outer layer!  I absolutely loved him.  (Except for one thing, which I will get to shortly)  He set his sights on Tori and that was it.  He might have gone about it wrong, but the end result was what he wanted, so semantics….

Tori was a great heroine.  She was sassy and could give it right back to Jamie.  I like that she was flawed and real and that her fear and insecurities shone through.  I also like that she was tough enough not to give in to Jamie right away.  Plus, she used Stitch (you’ll find out who Stitch is soon enough) in her anti-Jamie crusade to go along with the Loser Special.  Ah, Stitch.  You of the piercings and beard and grunting.  I do hope you get your own book someday…sigh.

Anyway, I digress.

Jamie and Tori are great together.  In the beginning, I didn’t really feel the chemistry and I was a tiny bit sad about that, but then, after reading some more, I realized that maybe that was calculated on J. Daniels’s part and if it wasn’t then excellent happenstance my dear.  Their bickering and bantering was the ultimate foreplay.  When things finally came to a head, pun intended, it was explosive and fun and super sexy.

(You should know that I am giggling at myself right now)

I loved this book so much, I am putting it on my Top Reads of 2016 list.  It is a five star read, so let me explain why I only gave it 4.5 stars.  This is just my personal pet peeve and so of you may not agree, so please remember that.  The reason I only gave it 4.5 stars is because Jamie seems to lack the ability to use pronouns; therefore, speaking in disjointed and grunty sentences.  Again, just my pet peeve, but it drives me crazy enough to take away a half of a star.

Daniels took a tried and true trope and tweaked it just right to make a fun, sexy and romantic read that will keep you hot and bothered and up all night reading!

EXCERPT

Hammerjacks was dimly lit and packed with bodies, some dancing together and others crowding the bar, waiting to get served. I started scanning the room as I came up beside Tori, who was doing the same even though she had no idea who she was looking for.

I saw Quinn almost instantly. She wasn’t hard to spot.

The bright pink spiked-out hair helped with that.

“There,” I said, pointing in the direction of the bar where my sister was sitting on a stool, head turned away from the group of shitheads swarming her.

She was alone. That pissed me off.

She was here, in town visiting, and she was looking for ass. That pissed me off, too.

Not much I could do about the second thing, I understood it, but she was gonna hear my feelings toward the other whether she wanted to hear them or not.

“What’s her name again?” Tori asked as we made our way over.

“Quinn,” I said.

She nodded, face serious. Then she tucked stray pieces of hair behind her ears and smoothed out the rest of her pony, pulled the one sleeve of her shirt down so it exposed her shoulder and bra strap, straightened her spine, tipped her chin up, and put on a smile before rushing ahead.

“Hey, sweetie. Sorry I’m late,” Tori chirped, squeezing in between my sister and the shitheads as if they weren’t standing there. She grabbed Quinn’s face, bent down, and kissed her cheek. “I missed you. Did you miss me?” she asked, bringing both hands to Quinn’s neck and holding there while standing between her bent knees.

Tori was smiling and playing the part, leaning close and making it seem like they were really together, or at least really feeling each other. My sister was blinking up at Tori, looking baffled but also looking like she was wanting to buy everything Legs was selling.

I wasn’t surprised. Quinn shared my taste in women. And I definitely had a taste for Legs.

“Whoa, are you two…damn. Is this your girl?” one of the shitheads asked from behind Tori, pointing at the back of her.

“Jesus,” another one chimed in, looking his fill. “What are the chances of me watchin’ you two go at it? This is fuckin’ hot.”

I stepped up then, not liking the tone of this guy and the shit coming out of his mouth, and wanting to make my presence known.

He saw me approach and shot me a hard look, asking, “You gotta problem?”

“Jamie.”

Teeth clenched and fists forming, I looked to Quinn, not taking the bait he was throwing out.

She was watching me, eyes serious and mouth tight, subtly shaking her head in warning ’cause she knew I couldn’t be fighting or doing anything that could draw negative attention. Then she turned her attention onto Tori when she twisted and slid into Quinn’s lap.

“Fishing in the wrong pond, boys,” Tori informed them, sweeping her gaze over the three while putting her arm around Quinn’s shoulders and pressing close. “Get lost. We’re not interested.” Then she turned all of her attention onto my sister and amped up her game, giggling as she kept her face close to hers and running her fingers through her hair, smiling, whispering, really flirting and looking into it, all while blocking the view of the shitheads so they couldn’t watch.

And everything Legs was doing, my sister was eating up.

Wrapping her arms around Tori and holding on to her, smiling back, laughing, looking like she was falling in love and thinking this was real and something sustainable.

I was starting to regret incorporating Tori into this plan. She was a little too good at her game. Straight up. Maybe the best at it.

I was also starting to get mildly jealous watching my sister getting attention from the one woman who was hell-bent on ignoring my ass.

“Man, whatever,” the one guy said, grabbing his beer and looking to his friends. “Come on. I’m not wastin’ my time on lesbian pussy.”

His friends murmured their agreement, mentioned something about hitting up Roy’s, a bar down the street, then grabbed their beers and stepped away.

When they were out of earshot, I shifted my eyes to Legs, telling her, “Think you sold it. You can get off my sister now.”

Tori smiled proudly, lifting her shoulders with a little dance. Then she looked to Quinn, keeping the smile, and said, “Hey, I’m Tori. Your brother dragged me here, so I figured I’d offer my assistance instead of letting him handle it, since he can’t fight and all.”

“Can fight, just shouldn’t,” I corrected her. I jerked my chin. “Hop off.”

Quinn moved her hands up Tori’s back and licked her lips. “Wicked plan,” my sister told her. “I was totally into that.”

“I think it got the point across,” Tori replied. “I really like your hair, by the way.” She ran her fingers through it again. “The color looks great on you.”

“Really?”

“Absolutely. It really makes your eyes pop.”

“I was thinking about going purple…”

“Have you tried bleaching the roots and just painting the color on the ends? I think that would look amazing with purple.”

Jesus.

“Legs,” I barked.

Both of their heads whipped around and faced my direction.

“You feelin’ like gettin’ up so we can get the fuck outta here?” I asked, thinking only about the food back at her place I was wanting to eat and not about how comfortable my sister’s hands looked gripping on to Tori’s body.

“She’s fine,” Quinn offered, keeping her hands locked around Legs. “Really. She doesn’t have to move.”

I shot a glare at Quinn, communicating how I felt about that suggestion, then shifted that glare to Tori.

“I was getting up. Relax. We were just talking,” she huffed, moving off Quinn’s lap and coming to stand beside me. “You’re welcome, by the way,” she murmured.

My Review:

5/5 Stars!!

What did I just read?!  Pretty Lost Dolls is crazy creepy goodness!

The second book in the Pretty Stolen Dolls series, Pretty Lost Dolls picks up where book one left off.  Jade has already been through hell at the hands of Benny.  She got out and has been planning her revenge.  Now she is back in Benny’s hell, but she is not the same girl from all those years ago.  Now, she is determined to survive and to fight back.

The writing in this book is insanely good.  The words hop off the page as if playing out the twisted scenes in your head.  The use of multiple POVs was spot on, giving us a look inside the minds of the crazy Benny, the kick butt Jade and the concerned Dillon.    Dukey and Webster come up with some seriously twisted stuff in this series.  Sick, twisted, crazy goodness.

I’ll be honest.  I hadn’t read book one when I got my hands on this.  I immediately went out and got book 1 and I am glad I did.  Book 1 had a devastating cliffhanger and had I had to wait for Pretty Lost Dolls, I’m not sure I would have been able to be held responsible for my actions.  Lucky for all of us, I was able to binge the books together and once I started, I couldn’t put them down.  For real.  I started book one at 8 p.m.  Bad choice.  I didn’t get to sleep until after 4 a.m. and that was only because I fell asleep because my eyes wouldn’t stay open any longer.

Pretty Lost Dolls is a must-read, unputdownable masterpiece of crazy, messed up, sick and twisted goodness!

About Ker Dukey

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up.

My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

My Review:

5/5 Stars!!!

I am kind of in awe of this debut effort! It isn’t often that I pick up a book and read it cover to cover without stopping, but that is exactly what I did with this book.

So let’s talk about Charlotte. Charlotte is an interesting character. She’s just 23 and working her dream job. She has a history with a rock star, who is her ex, and his best friend, who she hated way back when. Now suddenly, she is in charge of PR for said rock star, Joey. Charlotte made me crazy. She was back and forth about her feelings for both Joey and Mathew. She starts this thing with Matthew, which was unexpected. I’ll give her that. She’s getting all this pressure from every direction. Truthfully, I think she handled the whole mess just like a 23 year old would. However, that does not mean I didn’t want to smack her upside the head more than once. But, then, I believe a great character brings out those emotions in a reader.

Joey was a hot mess. I kept waiting for it to be revealed that he had a mental illness. The guy was so hot and cold and up and down, I was getting dizzy. Oddly enough, the resolution of his story was kind of fitting. Please don’t kill me for what I just typed when you read the book. I just tell the truth, folks.

Finally, we have Matthew. Honestly, I had the guy pegged from his first appearance in the book. That didn’t make him any less alluring. The guy is sex on a stick with his smoldering glances and sexy stares. Benson did a great job of writing him. I figured out something nefarious he had done and was kind of surprised that when the big Reveal happened it wasn’t more of an issue. It was pretty much brushed over and that kind of bothered me.

I was torn from beginning. I rooted for Joey and Matthew. I honestly couldn’t decide who I wanted her with until the night of Joey’s concert. Then, I made up my mind…fast. The tension between these three was palpable all the way through. This was slow burn at its finest.

Fair warning, this is a love triangle at heart. I know many people don’t care for love triangles, but really, you would be remiss if you missed this book just for that.

I am putting this on my list of 2016 Top Reads! It was that darn good.

Blog Tour: 5 Stars Review of My Friends Are All Strange by M. C. Lesh

My Friends Are All Strange
Margaret Lesh
Publication date: October 18th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

My friends are all strange.

Right now I’m living at Brookside, a place for people like me. I’ve met a kitty girl, a brooding beautiful boy, one who can’t be touched, and others. My new friends. Strange people. People like me.

I’ve always been different, but lately, more so. My hands sometimes don’t seem to be attached to the rest of me. I cut up all of my clothes. I’m hot, so hot, all of the time. If I sleep, a wizard haunts every dream. I don’t sleep. Sometimes I want to run, but where do you run to when you’re trying to escape your own mind? I don’t know if I’ll ever be the same. I’m smart. I’m nice, sometimes. I just want to be normal(ish). But, right now, my friends are all strange… Like me.

Dark, funny, snarky, seventeen-year-old Becca struggles to cope with mental illness in My Friends Are All Strange, the gripping contemporary young adult companion novel to Normalish.

Goodreads / Amazon

My Review:

5/5 Stars!!

Every once in awhile, I find a book that just knocks my socks off.  My Friends Are All Strange did just that.

Let me quickly summarize.  Becca is struggling with a serious mental illness that lands her in a mental health facility after a stunning meltdown in her school cafeteria.

I come from a healthcare background and have some experience in the care of people with mental illness and I have to say, this book was a shockingly accurate portrayal of mental disease.  Becca is a complex character who will tug at your heart.  I felt for her and what she was going through.  I appreciate the care that Lesh took in writing Becca and her illness.

This is a definite must read and one of my top reads of 2016!

Author Bio:

California native Margaret Lesh lives in a narrow canyon populated by herds of wild burro and packs of coyote. The canyon is also populated with her creative, handsome husband, her feisty mother-in-law, her not-brave-at-all Border Collie, Echo, and sometimes her son (who is away at college. And she is not quite sure how that all happened so fast).

She writes books to entertain young and not-so-young readers as well as herself. She believes tacos are magic.

Blog Tour: 5 Stars for Managed by Kristen Callihan

managed-banner

managed-amazonIt started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big…ego.

I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.

That is until HE sat down next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He’s a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.

I thought I’d give him hell for one, long flight. I didn’t expect to like him. I didn’t expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn’t see coming.

If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can’t manage. But I’m tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.

Let the battle begin…

My Review:

5/5 Stars!!!

Spoiler Free Review

If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would!

I read book one in the VIP series, Idol, and gave it 5 stars. It was one of my 2016 top reads and one of my favorite books by Kristen Callihan. Well, Managed just blew that out of the water. This IS my top read of 2016 and sits atop my favorite Kristen Callihan books as a shining example of what all books should look like.

No joke.

Scottie’s gotta book!!!

We were introduced to Scottie, Kill John’s no nonsense, growly manager with the permascowl in Idol. Now, we finally get a look inside the man and it is a fabulous view! I love opposites attract concept here. Scottie is all business and Sophie is all about fun. They might be opposites but they are perfect for each other. Sophie counterbalances Scottie. He only opens up with her. She manages him with finesse, like she was put on Earth just for him. It takes a while for him to let himself enjoy her. Callihan uses a unique approach to getting them together and I loved it.

I loved getting the inside story on Scottie and why he is who and how he is. He is a complicated man with a complicated past and his buttoned up persona is calculated and well-earned. But, when the man finally falters, oh is it a glorious fall.

Sophie is an entity all her own. She is fun and perky and takes no crap from Scottie. She really does manage him. But, she has a troubled past as well and that past is lurking in the shadows of the book. You know that moment is coming, the one that will ruin everything. I read much of the back half of the book with an edge-of-my-seat mentality thanks to little clues inserted here and there. I loved Sophie’s character, her inner workings so pure and full of love for the guys, for Libby and Julia and Brenna. I hurt for her when she hurt. I was happy for her when she was happy.

When you crack the spine or tap the edge of your read to start that first page, Managed will suck you in, take you on a great journey of love and trust, and send you sailing off into the sunset of happiness with the ending.

Another great Kristen Callihan read and a Quesarasera Book Blog Top Read of 2016!

managed-teaser-5

In all this time, I had yet to see Gabriel without a shirt. He hides his body like a pious Victorian, never letting me see anything other than him fully dressed and polished. Now I know why. Had he let me get a glimpse, I might never have been able to form a coherent thought around him.

This man’s chest is a work of art. It’s every fantasy I’ve had about a man’s body made real. I don’t even know how that’s possible, but I’m not about to complain. God, he looks touchable. Olive skin, tight little brownish nipples, a smattering of dark chest hair over the most incredibly honed—

“You’re staring.” His tone is dry.

“Yes, I am.” I drag my eyes up and find his expression bemused.

A thick brow lifts. I try to mimic the look and fail when both of my brows lift as one. His lips twitch in amusement.

He shifts his weight, causing his abs to clench. Good Lord. He’s not some overdeveloped gym worshiper, just solid and strong, that perfect balance between defined musculature and healthy male—

“You’re still staring, Sophie.”

“You think it’s easy looking away from all this splendor?” I ask his belly button, licking my lips when he huffs out a laugh and just a little bit more of his lower abs are revealed, slanting toward the thick bulge of his cock, which is lamentably hidden behind his slacks.

“You’re impossible,” he mutters, though there is humor in his voice. He strolls farther into the room and then practically kills me when he sits in one of the low-slung armchairs. That body, sprawled out on display, those thick, long thighs braced as if to take me in his lap—it’s too much.

I want to straddle him and lick my way from the hollow of his throat to the tip of his cock.

He eyes me as if he knows what I’m thinking, and the air thickens. So many things we left unsaid. I’m remembering his lips now, surprisingly soft, but strong with purpose.

From the way his lids lower, I wonder if he’s remembering things as well. But he doesn’t move. Tension glides over his body and snakes around the room. I feel it in my throat and down my spine. We’re closing up again, retreating.

Slowly, I toe off my shoes and set my gear down, never breaking eye contact. “I was being completely honest,” I tell him. “I see you like this and I want to stare forever.”

He snorts, shaking his head even as he rests his temple on his knuckles. “What do you mean ‘like this’?”

“Undone.”

He tenses. It does lovely things to that chest. I focus on his face, mainly to maintain some semblance of decorum.

“You think this is me undone?” he asks quietly.

“It’s a start.” I reach for my camera bag. “Will you let me photograph you?”

There is safety to be found with the camera between us. A way for both of us to hide until we’re comfortable around each other again.

“You’re serious?”

“You sound surprised.” Holding my camera, I sit in the sofa opposite him. “Don’t tell me no one has asked to take your picture before.”

“They’ve asked. I never saw the point.” He shrugs. “I’m not the story.”

You’re my story. You always were.

“This is just for me,” I say instead. “No one else.”

His shrewd gaze pins me. “Why do you want this?”

So I can have a bit of you forever. “Pictures capture moments in time. I want this one—when you finally let me see a sliver of the man behind the clothes.”

His nostrils flare on an indrawn breath, and he slowly lets it out. When he speaks, his voice is a rasp. “Take the pictures.”

My Review:
4.5/5 Stars!!!!
I have read most of Melissa Foster’s books and this one is by far my favorite!
Tru Blue knocked my socks off from the opening chapter.  A story of love, redemption, family, hope and trust, I can’t really put into words how much I loved this!  Truman is perfection.  I mean, really, who doesn’t swoon over a sexy man with kids?  Am I right?  Truman was sweet and strong and oh so sexy.  I loved Truman and Gemma together.  Gemma is strong and brilliant and flawed.  She is perfection in her own right.
Tru Blue is one of my 2016 top favorites!

Trailer
Excerpt

TRUMAN GRITT LOCKED the door to Whiskey Automotive and stepped into the stormy September night. Sheets of rain blurred his vision, instantly drenching his jeans and T-shirt. A slow smile crept across his face as he tipped his chin up, soaking in the shower of freedom. He made his way around the dark building and climbed the wooden stairs to the deck outside his apartment. He could have used the interior door, but after being behind bars for six long years, Truman took advantage of the small pleasures he’d missed out on, like determining his own schedule, deciding when to eat and drink, and standing in the f**king rain if he wanted to. He leaned on the rough wooden railing, ignoring the splinters of wood piercing his tattooed forearms, squinted against the wetness, and scanned the cars in the junkyard they used for parts—and he used to rid himself of frustrations. He rested his leather boot on the metal box where he kept his painting supplies. Truman didn’t have much—his old extended-cab truck, which his friend Bear Whiskey had held on to for him while he was in prison, this apartment, and a solid job, both of which were compliments of the Whiskey family. The only family he had anymore.Emotions he didn’t want to deal with burned in his gut, causing his chest to constrict. He turned to go inside, hoping to outrun thoughts of his own f**ked-up family, whom he’d tried—and failed—to save. His cell phone rang with his brother’s ringtone, “A Beautiful Lie” by 30 Seconds to Mars.

“F**k,” he muttered, debating letting the call go to voicemail, but six months of silence from his brother was a long time. Rain pelleted his back as he pressed his palm to the door to steady himself. The ringing stopped, and he blew out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d trapped inside. The phone rang again, and he froze.

He’d just freed himself from the dredges of hell that he’d been thrown into in an effort to save his brother. He didn’t need to get wrapped up in whatever mess the drug-addicted fool had gotten himself into. The call went to voicemail, and Truman eyed the metal box containing his painting supplies. Breathing like he’d been in a fight, he wished he could paint the frustration out of his head. When the phone rang for the third time in as many minutes, the third time since he was released from prison six months ago, he reluctantly answered.

“Quincy.” He hated the way his brother’s name came out sounding like the enemy. Quincy had been just a kid when Truman went to prison. Heavy breathing filled the airwaves. The hairs on Truman’s forearms and neck stood on end. He knew fear when he heard it. He could practically taste it as he ground his teeth together.

“I need you,” his brother’s tortured voice implored.

Need me? Truman had hunted down his brother after he was released from prison, and when he’d finally found him, Quincy was so high on crack he was nearly incoherent—but it didn’t take much for f**k off to come through loud and clear. What Quincy needed was rehab, but Truman knew from his tone that wasn’t the point of the call.

Before he could respond, his brother croaked out, “It’s Mom. She’s really bad.”

New Release! 5 Stars for The Silent Waters by Brittainy C. Cherry

Title: The Silent Waters
Series: Romance Elements #3
Author: Brittainy C. Cherry
Genre: Romance
 Release Date: September 22, 2016

Blurb
Moments. Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday’s hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow’s promises.

I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.

I was ten years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

(Book Three in the Elements Series. Complete Standalone.)

My Review:
5 very emotional, I’m still crying big fat crocodile tears stars!!!

Brittainy Cherry – you slay me, girl! Reading your books is an all-encompassing experience and I love it!

I started the book last weekend and it took me the entire week to finish it. Not because it wasn’t good, but because it was so good that I didn’t want it to end and…and…this book is so emotional and frankly kind of frustrating.

I absolutely refuse to tell you any specifics because it will ruin the experience for you, but if you have read any of Brittainy’s other books, then you know what’s coming your away.  I will tell you that this book spans many years and is told from both of the main characters’ perspectives.  It is seriously fantastic storytelling!

The first few chapters are seriously cuteness overload. Then something happens and the cuteness is all gone. Then the romance comes in and it’s beautiful and wonderful and lovely. But, of course, things can’t stay all rainbows and sunshine forever. However, there is a super satisfying, over the moon, smiling so big your cheeks hurt, cry happy tears for days HEA!

I will admit, this was a hard book to read because there was this one, really frustrating, underlying issue that could easily have been resolved except that it couldn’t and I found myself yelling at the characters to just fix it already.

If you buy only one more book this year, make it this one! Trust me!

5 Stars for Weightless by Kandi Stein (Releasing June 16, 2016)

Weightless

Weightless

Author:  Kandi Steiner

Publication Date:  June 16, 2016

Genre:  Coming of Age

Synopsis:

I remember the lights.

I remember I wanted to photograph them, the way the red and blue splashed across his cold, emotionless face. But I knew even if my feet could move from the place where they had cemented themselves to the ground and I could run for my camera, I wouldn’t be able to capture that moment.

I had trusted him, I had loved him, and even though my body had changed that summer, he’d made sure to help me hold on to who I was inside, regardless of how the exterior altered.

But then everything changed.

He stole my innocence. He scarred my heart. He took everything I thought I knew about my life and fast-pitched it out the window, shattering the glass that held my world together in the process.

I remember the lights.

The passionate, desperate, hot strikes of red. The harsh, cruel, icy bolts of blue.

They symbolized everything I endured that summer.

And everything I would never face again.

My Review:

Rating:  five stars

I received the ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t even know where to start, that is how good this book is.  It is in my top 3 of 2016!

I am going to be careful not to give anything away because I don’t want to ruin any of the beauty that is this book or take away from your experience of reading Weightless.  It was that good.  Seriously.

I read the synopsis and was immediately intrigued.  I thought for sure I knew what was going on.  I like to think I have this special power that lets me figure out all the twists and turns before they happen.  It’s a blessing and a curse.  I thought right away I knew how this was going to end, which caused me all kinds of anxiety and stress, but I was wrong.  I was so wrong.  I was so wrong, that I couldn’t put the book down until I figured it all out.

Natalie is like all of my insecurities wrapped up in a sweet, well-versed character who portrays those insecurities on the pages of this book in such a perfect way.  The character of Natalie is beyond likeable.  She is every one of us.  Reading her journey of self-discovery was beautiful and satisfying.

Rhodes, the hero, is rough around the edges, gruff, misunderstood and, of course, hot.  But, his rawness is what makes him such a powerful character.

I literally couldn’t put this book down.  I picked it up, started reading and the next thing I knew it was the middle of the night.  I had to keep reading until I found just the right stopping point so I could get some sleep before picking it up the next morning.  You’ve been warned.   😉

Weightless has all the feels, sweet romance, a little steaminess and a dash of mystery and danger that come together to make a perfect recipe of delicious book goodness.

Weightless releases on June 16, 2016 , but you can preorder now for just $0.99 on Amazon .  It will also be available on Kindle Unlimited.
