Maddie Lucas is only looking for a one night stand…

While studying in Spain for her semester abroad, Maddie hopes to escape the drama surrounding her parents’ divorce—a divorce she may or may not have caused—while researching Spanish architecture for her thesis. And if she hooks up with hot Madrileños along the way? All the better.

But handsome Spaniard Javier Montoya wants so much more.

Guitarist Javier is ready to set aside his rock star ways and settle down for good with his gorgeous ex-girlfriend. But after a one night stand with sexy, passionate Maddie blossoms into genuine friendship, he begins to wonder if Maddie might be the forever girl he’s been looking for.

Too bad Maddie believes forever is more fiction than fairy tale. Can Javier prove to her that fairy tales exist? Or is Maddie right to think she doesn’t deserve happily ever after?

Book 2 of the Study Abroad Series

Excerpt from LESSONS IN GRAVITY – Copyright 2016 by Jessica Peterson

I’m about to make fun of Rafa for being such a relentlessly cute cheeseball when a gust of cold air hits me. Skin prickling with goose bumps, I glance toward the entrance hall.

A broad-shouldered guy strides into the discoteca, hands tucked into the pockets of his bomber jacket. The collar is turned up against the cold; the leather is lovingly scarred, distressed in a way a machine couldn’t replicate.

I can’t see his face—he’s looking away from us, searching the other side of the bar—but something about the way he’s built, the dark scuff that covers the square lines of his jaw, catches my wandering eye.

He’s built like a quarterback, deliciously thick about the shoulders and arms and chest. Not huge, just the very right side of athletic. But his chocolate brown hair—cropped close at the sides, a combed swoop of longer hair at the top—along with all that scruff scream hot hipster. His clothes are somewhere in between: dark fitted jeans, tidy suede boots, the hem of a button-down shirt peeking from underneath the bottom of his jacket. It’s like he’s part Madrileño, part rookie NFL player, part hipster country music star.

I’m intrigued.

Who are you, I wonder. What is your story?

And would you like to get naked with me tonight?

He turns his head and our gazes collide. I look, and he looks, and we both keep looking.

My Review:

Jessica Peterson has done it again with another great new adult romance!

Lessons in Gravity is book two in the Study Abroad series, about a group of college friends studying in Spain for the semester.  Book two is Maddie and Javier’s story.  We met Maddie, Vivian’s best friend, in book one Spanish lessons.  (see my review of Spanish Lessons here )

Maddie is in Spain to study, party and have no-strings attached one-night stands with as many Eurotrash boys she can.  However, underneath her carefree attitude, Maddie is struggling with family issues back home.  Things happened before she left for Spain that have made her close her heart off to love.  That is until the night she meets a sexy Spaniard hipster named Javier.

Javier is Rafa’s (Vivian’s boyfriend) uncle.  Don’t worry, he’s only twenty-four, not a wrinkly, older man.  J  Javier is a far from old and wrinkly.  He is all kinds of sex on a stick.  He was the guitar player for one of Spain’s most popular music artists, for goodness sake.  Javier finds he is tired of life on the road and wants to settle down in Madrid, his hometown.  He wants to find his forever girl.  He thought that was an old flame, until he meets the fiery Maddie.

I could not put this book down.  The chemistry between Maddie and Javier is off the charts.  Javier is romantic and sexy and says these things that make you swoon.  He ranks near the top of my book boyfriend list.

My favorite part of reading Lessons in Gravity was all the feels.  I laughed.  I cried.  I was angry and I swooned.  Boy did I swoon.

The best side character award goes to Javier’s band mate, Leo.  He is crass and hysterical and he’s trying to work on his English, so when she writes his English speaking parts it’s all broken and so stinking cute.  I almost wish Leo would get his own book.  The man deserves to have the lovin’.

This book has everything you need for a great romance read—spicy parts (as Jessica Peterson calls them in the back of her book, but let’s be honest, it’s hot sex), sweet romance, angst, interference and misunderstandings and one of the sweetest reunions/makeup scenes I’ve ever read.

Jessica Peterson tweeted that the inspirations for her Maddie and Javier were Anna Kendrick and Sam Hunt, so as I read Lessons in Gravity I couldn’t picture anyone else but them.  Thanks for the visual, Jessica!!

In all seriousness, I feel blessed to have been asked by the author to read and review the books in this series.  At the end of book two is a teaser for book three and I can’t wait to read it.

My recommendation:  One-click this book right now.  Go on.  You know you want to.

I received this copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

About the Author:

Jessica Peterson began reading romance to escape the decidedly unromantic awkwardness of her teenage years. Having found solace in the likes of Mr. Darcy, Jamie Fraser (OMG love the gingers!), and Edward Cullen, it wasn’t long before she began creating tall, dark and handsome heroes of her own.

She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband, Mr. Peterson, and her smelly Goldendoodle Martha Bean.
