AUTHOR NOTES – Recently re-edited.
Book 1 of 2, but can be read as a standalone if you wish. A full-size novel at 96,000 words.
Perception of Life is a bad boy rock star romance.
Noah is poised to be a big rock star with his band. He is aloof and untrusting. He has suffered in his life and he can’t commit, doesn’t want to commit. Until her meets Emily. She changes everything for him.
I liked Perception of Life, but it didn’t quite live up to its synopsis. I think I expected more angst. Don’t get me wrong. Noah is angsty, but, unfortuantely, it comes off more as him being a jerk with a dirty mouth. He is redeemed some later in the book when his interactions with Emily improve. Speaking of Emily. I really liked the character of Emily.
I read some reviews where the reviewer complained about particular words and phrases. I understand the author is Australian and the language is colloquial. That did not bother me in the least. I did find the story to be a bit repetitive at times and the big jumps in time were a little hard to follow at times.
However, all-in-all, this was a pretty good book. Really, who doesn’t love a good rock star romance.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
