Spoiler Free Review
This may be the craziest book I have ever read! No joke. It was not at all what I thought it would be, but trust me, I am not complaining.
Kate and Jude are killers. Like for real. Both of them are serial killers. They are calculating and smart and I have no idea how they even worked, but they did.
Let me warn you. This book is not like any other book I have ever read. It is written in first person (?) in a stream of consciousness style mostly with thoughts about the other characters. Think use of “you” in place of “I”. I don’t really know how else to describe it, but it was quite clever and added a layer I wouldn’t have thought of. It is told in the alternating POVs of Jude and Kate. These two had each other’s numbers, as I imagine only two killers could.
The story is intriguing. The writing is great. The characters are unique and when you don’t want to like either of them, you can’t help it. I found myself unsure of who to root for, or if I should just not root for either of them. They were so awful to each other at times, but I truly think it was their nature not to trust.
I am sorry if this review is less than organized. It’s just that this book has seriously left me with a book hangover that I can’t quite contain!
And that is how I know this was one of those unforgettable books!
