For eighteen-year-old Becca Torrence, the chance to finish high school in a new town, where no one knows her or the secrets of that night, should be a dream come true. But when the first day of school rolls around, something is wrong.
Instead of being greeted with warm smiles and reassuring hellos, Becca finds herself on the receiving end of icy stares and cruel whispers. Putting it down to her status as an outsider, she holds her head high, because they can’t know.
Determined to make her new life in Credence work, Becca is willing to do whatever it takes to fit in. Even if it means losing herself in the process.
A white lie can save you … Too many lies will break you.
What the heck is up with high school these days?! I mean, we had drama, but these kids…phew!
Becca moves to a new school in a new town where she can hide from her past and her secrets. But, things don’t exactly go as planned. People avoid her, whisper about her and are just down right cruel. She is constantly worried that they know about her secrets.
I felt for Becca. Moving schools sucks and moving schools with secrets sucks even more. She did make a few friends, but I felt like she went way overboard in an attempt to fit in. Evan was great, but I wasn’t sure he could be trusted. Then there was Kendall. That girl was just too much.
So, this ends on quite a cliffhanger. It’s a doozy. I need the next book, because I need answers.
This may not be some people’s cup of tea, but I thought it was well-written and the story was engaging enough that I need to know what is next. L. A. Cotton has started something good with the 1st book in the Liar Liar series.
