My life is a hot mess.
Single, working, and raising two daughters, it’s a miracle I get us up, dressed, and fed every morning. Forget about dating—nobody’s got time for that. Even if love hadn’t left me jaded, I’m not settling for anything less than perfect this time around.
Lucky for me, the perfect man just happens to work in my office. But there’s just one small problem: he’s my boss, and is totally off limits. But hey, if it’s meant to be, it’ll find a way, right?
Then a night out with friends turns into a night in with the walking-talking bad boy cliche of a bartender. It’s just one night. No harm, no foul, right?
Except when the hot bartender turns out to be my boss’s trouble-making brother, who wants more than just one night with me. The more I resist the spark between us, the more I find myself wanting him too. Which puts me in the middle of what could be the biggest sibling rivalry of the century.
Life is messy.
Well, love is even messier.
Well, as the name implies, Lexi, our single, divorced mom heroine, is just that…a hot mess. She works for a publisher editing romance novels and frequently gets caught by her boss, Cole, while reading the good parts. **wink, wink** Lexi has a little thing for Cole, who is the only person in the world to call her Alexis. (Secretly, that drove me nuts and I kind of thought Cole was a weasel). Now, finally ready to date again, Lexi lets her bestie talk her into a night out with the girls and encourages a one night stand with the hot, dirty-talking bad boy cliché bartender. Weeelllll…turns out Hottie Luke is Hottie Cole’s brother and they kind of hate each other.
Uh oh is right, only uh oh is so good. What unfolds is pure, book goodness! Luke is sexy as sin. Cole, while kind of a big old jerk is sexy in his own right. And poor Lexi is stuck in the middle of it all. She and Luke want more than just a one night stand, but there is a lot working against them.
This is a duet, people, so it does end on a cliffhanger. Okay. Do we all understand that? If you don’t like cliffys, well too bad for you. This book is worth the cliffhanger at the end and really, why wouldn’t you want more of a good thing? Am I right or am I right?
Hot Mess is a great book that I highly recommend.
