She makes my pulse race.
From the moment I laid eyes on her in that ridiculous giraffe onesie, I knew this girl would rock my world.
Effa’s the lead singer of the world-famous rock band, Luminous.
And I’m their new lighting tech, Kaden ‘Mercs’ Mercury.
Going on tour with an all-female rock band would be simple you’d think, but these girls aren’t an easy push-over.
All the while things back home are taking a turn for the worse, and I’m losing a battle of my own that might come back to bite me on the ass if I’m not careful. My only distraction from the ensuing chaos – a bubbly blonde lead singer, destined to brighten my life.
But with an all-male backup band, tensions are bound to run high when jealousy flares, and lines are blurred.
She sets my pulse racing, but am I enough to kickstart her heart?

My Review

4 Stars!

Yay for a female rock band!! I love a good rock star romance, but I really enjoyed this one because, you know, all girl rock band! There was a lot that went on in this book, but Effa and Mercs were great! They had that instant attraction thing going for them and then they decided to purse it, but it wasn’t an easy road for them. They had a lot of outside interference from the band, family, and other things. All the characters were great. I can honestly say, I liked all the band members. I was a bit shocked at the ending and am looking forward to the next book!

Gabe Preston.
The man who wrecked me; who tore through my life leaving no stone unturned and then simply walked away.It took me two years to piece my life back together in the aftermath of his storm. Two years and still even the mention of his name causes my chest to constrict.

I hate him. I hate everything about him. I hate how he thinks that he can walk back into my life after all this time and I’m just going to melt at his feet. If he thinks his newly found ROCKSTAR status holds any power over me at all, he couldn’t be more wrong. If anything, it makes me hate him more.

Only I don’t hate him. Not even a little. One smile and the last two years all but vanish.

But I know what loving a man like Gabe Preston will do to a girl. I’ve lived it firsthand. I won’t make the same mistake twice. Not knowing what I know.He may be used to having all the power, but I’m the one with the secret that will change everything.

 My Review:

4 Stars!

Melissa Toppen writes some of the best characters.  After the ending of Everything After, I was dying to find out what happened with Gabe and now we get Gabe’s book.  It is so good!

Gabe was a hot mess.  He partied, drank, slept around…you know, typical rocker lifestyle.  The band has had enough of his behavior, so they head back to Georgia to take a break, create new music and hopefully give Gabe sometime to get his life together.  While on the break, Gabe runs into Rae, an old flame, who he left heartbroken and alone.  Now he gets a second chance to make amends.

This is a great second chance romance.  Fair warning, once you open the book, you will not want to put it down!  This can be read as a standalone, but you should not deprive yourself from book one.  Trust me, the boys of Everything After will soon become your faves!

New Release! Needing the Memories by Terri Ann Browning

Happy Ever After doesn’t end at the Epilogue. The Epilogue is really only the beginning. For us, it’s meant sharing every high, every low, and loving each other even more when we come out the other side still standing. He’s everything I’ve always wanted. My best friend. My lover. My husband…

My Demon.
And I’m his Angel.

Our life hasn’t always been perfect, but to me as long as I get to wake up to Angel in my arms every morning and get to tuck our girls into bed at the end of each day I’ll be the happiest man in the world. Nothing can come between us, nothing can tear us apart.

Only…I have one regret. One that is still a black void in my head.

Every year it’s the same.

The regret.

The self-loathing for the man I was back then.

The anger that I’d taken something from the woman who has given herself to me so freely and being unable to remember a single second of it. This year it’s worse for me. It’s slowly driving me crazy.

Maybe it’s time to hit rewind and give us both a do over for that night.

Maybe what I really need is a memory to replace that empty blackness that is trying to swallow me whole.

Blog Tour: Too Many Rockstars by Candy J. Starr! 4 Stars!

Too Many

New Adult
Date Published: October 30, 2015
I don’t date rockers. Don’t sleep with them. Don’t even swap spit. I’ve been working as a band booker at Trouble — the coolest indie rock club in town — long enough to know what a bunch of screwed up, egotistical jerks they are.
That would be fine if Razer didn’t keep popping into my office, making himself so annoyingly attractive. And he only gets more insistent when the mysterious, leather-clad Alex hits town.
While they compete for both rock glory and my affection, I get stuck in the middle but all I really want to do is save the club from financial ruin. That means I have to play along with their stupid games.
That’s the trouble with my life: too many rock stars.
This is book 1 in the Access All Areas rock star series. For the best, non-spoiler it is best to read the series in order but each book is a complete story with no cliffhangers.
My Review:
4/5 Stars!!

Violet has a problem…she has one too many rock stars and they both want her.

Violet’s whole life is her job. She spends her waking hours booking bands to perform at the club she works for, aptly named Trouble. Razer is a local whose band performs at Trouble and he has had a thing for Violet for a long time. Then, in comes Alex, the hot, new rocker, who is immediately taken with Violet. A contest ensues and Violet is the prize. Only, she wants no part in it….until she does.

Too Many Rock Stars is a sweet and funny romance. There is a love triangle, but no cheating. There is a HEA and a teeny, tiny teaser for the next book.

About the Author:

Candy J. Starr used to be a band manager until she realised that the band she managed was so lacking in charisma that they actually sucked the charisma out of any room they played. “Screw you,” she said, leaving them to wallow in obscurity – totally forgetting that they owed her big bucks for video equipment hire.
Candy has filmed and interviewed some big names in the rock business, and a lot of small ones. She’s seen the dirty little secrets that go on in the back rooms of band venues. She’s seen the ugly side of rock and the very pretty one.
But, of course, everything she writes is fiction.

New Release & Giveaway + 4 star review: In the Absence of You by Sunniva Dee

In The Absence Of You
Sunniva Dee
Publication date: June 28th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Aishe is running. Running from the burn of a love she knows will consume her.

Running from a soul mate she’s never even met.

If only she hadn’t been hired as a merch girl for the hottest indie band on earth.

If only she’d never laid eyes on its front man, Emil—intense, sexy, and so unlike the men of her culture.

If only she hadn’t fallen onto his lips, then into his bed.

If only her flame hadn’t exploded into a full-on forest fire.

If only Emil’s heart didn’t belong to someone else.

Emil is running. Running from a broken heart.

Running from who he was with her.

If only Zoe hadn’t left.

If only Aishe hadn’t been right there.

If only she hadn’t been so damn gorgeous—insistent—different.

If only he could control himself around her.

If. Only.

Sexy friend teaser Absence

I come from a family that burns with love. You wouldn’t understand unless you were one of us. I’m not just talking my father and my mother—I’m talking every one of my ancestors. It’s in our genetic build to spend all of our energy on love.

Once we come of age, it strikes and blazes with a fire that eats you alive. This love is a plague that boils in my race and in my culture, and I wouldn’t know a different way unless I’d broken free and seen strangers love with milder flames.

Tonight, my eyes go from the merchandise on my table to the blond-headed burst of life hopping off the stage. His gaze shimmers with amusement, a cocky lip twitching as he slaps high-fives to guys and pinches girl-cheeks on his way over.

“Aishe! You got those super-tight, hot little tees with the broken heart thingy on the front? The ones the chicks dig?” he asks once he’s in front of me, Emil, the vocalist of Clown Irruption, one of the hottest alt-rock indie-bands out there. I’ve been their merch girl for a few months now. Each night, I zoom in on Emil with less and less difficulty.

“Yeah. Troll picked them up this morning,” I say referring to their tour manager.

“This is so cool—finally we see actual merch money,” Emil laughs out. Then he sets a hand to the table and squints at me. “You’ve done much better than your cousin. I mean, Shandor, man.” He shakes his head playfully. “He couldn’t draw dudes to the stand worth shit.”

My face loosens in a smile. I send a subtle glance at Shandor, who’s busy wrapping things up on stage, coiling cables and breaking down drums. To sell T-shirts wasn’t what he burned for. Shandor was born with the plague of our people too, but he hasn’t found his beloved yet. My people, we need something to obsess over, so if it’s not a man’s love for a woman or vice versa, it’s something else, and Shandor, he loves his music. Once the band promoted him from merch guy to monitors on stage, he recommended me to fill his spot, and voilà, here I am.

Shandor raises his head and stills on us, focus intent from under dark locks. He’s got a sixth sense for when guys chitchat with me. Like me, he left our traveling community years back, but the need to protect any girl of our people is so deep-rooted I doubt he ever questions it. Shandor would do everything in his power to stop any man, employer or not, from toying with his little cousin.

I straighten so that I’m tall for my height. Though I’m not overly curvy, I’m lean and strong. Supposedly, I’m also fiery, a bit fierce, a bit ferocious, traits that make me who I am, traits I don’t need here in the outside world as opposed to amongst those I was born to.

I intimidate most men with the stance I take right now, but I can’t intimidate Shandor. He glares, telling me without words what not to do, and next he pierces his stare into Emil’s back. Oblivious, Emil juts his index finger at the case of lukewarm beers behind me, wiggles it back and forth quickly, lips pursed in anticipation. “Hand over one of those babies, will ya?”

My Review:

In the Absence of You is not at all what I thought it would be, and that is not a bad thing.  Sunniva Dee writes emotional stories that take a toll on the reader in a good way.  This book doesn’t disappoint.

The characters are powerful.  Aishe is strong and loving and flawed and wonderful.  Emil is broken and needy and loving all at the same time.

This story is not what you think it is.  From page one, you are taken on an emotional ride with wonderful highs and lows.  The characters drawn you in.  The connections and emotions anchor you to the story.

I am amazed at every book of Sunniva’s that I read.  This book is full of emotional twists and turns.  I hope you’ll love it as much as I did.

4/5 stars!

Author Bio:

Between studies, teaching, and advising, Sunniva has spent her entire adult life in a college environment. Most of her novels are new adult romance geared toward smart, passionate readers with a love for eclectic language and engaging their brain as well as their heart while reading.

Born in the Land of the Midnight Sun, the author spent her early twenties making the world her playground. Southern Europe: Spain, Italy, Greece–Argentina: Buenos Aires, in particular. The United States finally kept her interest, and after half a decade in Los Angeles, she now lounges in the beautiful city of Savannah.

Sometimes, Sunniva writes with a paranormal twist (Shattering Halos, Stargazer, and Cat Love). At other times, it’s contemporary (Pandora Wild Child, Leon’s Way, Adrenaline Crush, Walking Heartbreak, and Dodging Trains, coming in late March 2016).

This author is the happiest when her characters let their emotions run off with them, shaping her stories in ways she never foresaw. She loves bad-boys and good-boys run amok, and like in real life, her goal is to keep the reader on her toes until the end of each story.

4 star review of Assured by Kaylee Ryan

Author:  Kaylee Ryan

Publication date:  May 4, 2016

Genre:  New Adult & College, Romance

I’ve always been the guy who plays the field. I like variety and my career ensures that I can have my pick of women.

Until her…

I’ve always been the girl who wants more. I want the white picket fence, the two point five kids and the dog. That’s what all little girls grow up dreaming about.

Until him…

Why is it that she’s all I can see? I no longer want the variety instead all I want is her. I won’t stop until she believes that she’s mine.

I assure you…

He’s not the kind of guy I usually date. He’s cocky, and famous and that hair. He says I’m what he wants, but I know his type. He likes to play the field. Only with me he’s different.

He’s assured.

Soul Serenade Series
Book 1: Emphatic – Now available

My Review:

Rating:  4/5 stars!

This second book in the Soul Serenade series from Kaylee Ryan did not disappoint.  Kaylee Ryan writes hot, sexy, lovable heroes and Cole Hampton falls right into those categories.

Stacy wants to meet the love of her life.  Cole wants to play the field, not committing to more than one night.  He wants one night with Stacy, but she isn’t falling for his charms.  Cole continues to pursue her, but Stacy won’t give in.  That is until they are paired together as Maid of Honor and Best Man at their friends’ wedding.  Stacy finally admits she might want to take Cole up on all his promises of one, hot night.  The band is about to go out on tour and with Logan now pregnant, they unanimously vote to hire Stacy as Logan’s assistant.  Stacy wants nothing more than to be able to spend the next three months with her best friend and they guys from the band, so she accepts the job.  The close quarters and togetherness draw Stacy and Cole closer together and suddenly, the playboy doesn’t want to play with anyone else anymore.

I haven’t read a Kaylee Ryan book I haven’t liked and Assured was no exception.  The Soul Serenade guys are different from most rock stars in most books, which is pleasantly different and makes me love them all the more.  Cole was never a jerk in his tactics with pursuing Stacy and it was sweet to read how his feelings were changing from his POV.

There were a couple of things that bothered me about the book.  One, while I know these guys are not written as the stereotypical rock stars, it was hard for me, as a reader, to believe that Cole, Tristan and Gavin all of a sudden went from sleeping with a new woman every night to near abstinent for three months on the road.  I get that we’re supposed to see them as different and I get Cole was changing due to his feeling for Stacy, but the sudden abstinence of Gavin and Tristan wasn’t really believable.  Second, the lack of conflict sort of bothered me.  There was a pivotal moment that was traumatizing to Stacy and she had a decision to make.  I understood the decision and how it drove the story, but I was honestly expecting this big climax moment that fell a little flat.

Despite the above, this really was a sweet, fun romance with just the right amount of steam.
